Iodine Supplements for Hypothyroid Vegans
I posted a question similar to this one in the Herbivore group asking if any vegans needed to use iodine supplements, but I wanted to post it here as well specifically because I have a double whammy with iodine being an already hypothyroid vegan. I eat soy and whole flaxseed, which both contain iodine, but obviously no…

Armour/Synthroid Conversion Chart
This may have been posted at some point in the past. It's a conversion chart for the top 5 thyroid medicines. http://www.nature-throid.com/images/RLC_ConversionChart.pdf I was concerned because my doc has moved me from 100 Synthroid to 60 Armor and I was afraid I'd have to start all over from a low dosage, but apparently…

Purchasing 2 seats on an airplane
This photo and its story have been circulating the news. The website has some background program that runs on your PC, slowing it to a crawl, so I'm not attaching it in case it isn't safe. This is the photo taken by a passenger on a 4 hour flight from Perth to Sydney demanding a refund for being seated next to the large…

Building muscles in leg with torn ACL
I've been recovering for 2 months from a torn ACL that will leave me on crutches for another 5-8 months. My left leg is wasting away. I can build my thigh by putting a dumbbell on top of my foot while sitting down and lifting my leg. It's not much, but it doesn't interfere with my knee. But my already scrawny left calf is…

I think I over complicate things
I just realized I spend most of my free time researching food to fit into my constantly changing diet. First, I went meat-free. Then I went gluten-free. Then I cut out all white sugar and processed foods (anything in a box, jar or can). Then I cut out all dairy and eggs. Then I went raw. One more limitation, and all I'll…

B&A with pics, female 5'8"
My original starting weight was 184 lbs at the first of February. I've still got a couple pounds to go, but the pressure is off me to "lose it or die". I'm not ready yet to get off my blood pressure meds even though the doc said if I lost 40 lbs I could (too scared), but I'll tell you what ... it sure feels good to not be…

10 Banned Foods
I found this list of 10 foods that are OK in the US, but banned in Europe, Australia, China, Japan, Russia, etc. I knew farm raised salmon was bad, but I didn't realize Russia banned all meat imports from the US. Monsanto has us under its thumb. http://eatlocalgrown.com/article/11944-banned-foods.html

Self control during a sugar craving
I don't have a sweet tooth, but I empathize with those who love their chocolate and sugar sodas as much as I love pickles and olives. I was reading a health book today and it suggested those who experience sugar cravings should carry a travel size toothbrush and toothpaste with them. When cravings hit, brush your teeth.…

Hypothyroidism and the Apple
I discovered this year that I had developed hypothyroidism. Over the course of 9 months, I gained 51 lbs and nearly 20 inches in my waistline while LOSING fat in my thighs. I tried for 2 years before learning of my condition to lose the weight I was steadily gaining and all my efforts did nothing more than slow it down and…
