Lucy Mecklenburgh (best celeb figure I've seen) is 5ft 7 and 8st 12.

Personally, I needed to get my calories under control before changing anything at all. Also vanity - wanted to look halfway reasonable in gym gear.
-
Weighing and logging every last thing, good day or bad day, come what may.
-
Mine's a bit left field but it works for me when I'm stressed so here goes... Jungian dream analysis - your dreams are simply your subconscious messaging you with things you need to know. Write your dreams down, draw your dreams - read over them often. They have all the answers.

You talk a lot of sense about nutrition, no doubt, BUT the OP asked a weight loss question, not a nutrition question. According to his diary he SHOULD be losing weight - his diary says he has a calorie deficit. So his problem HERE is not nutrition - it's isn't logging inaccurately - that's the place to start, imo. Sorry…

Calories. Calories are all that matter for weight loss. One step at a time, folks. Personally, I don't think the OP is logging accurately enough - ie not weighing food.
-
I had a little look at your diary... I notice you're measuring with cups and tbsps. etc, ie 0.5 packet, 1 cup. It might be an idea to use the food scales instead, for everything you eat, as they're so much more accurate. A couple of hundred calories either way can make a real difference.
-
Yeah. It's not good for your health to eat under BMR (basic metabolic rate) as that's what you use just to breathe and keep warm.
-
I don't think it's that people are stupid... I think the software algorithms need rewriting. If you're not knowledgeable about weight loss, then you're going to take MFP's calculations on trust and ask for the maximum weekly gain. Who wouldn't? There's not enough information for the new user to make a reasonable judgment.…

It isn't always correct. It does help to put a brand name in, when you're searching. The more accurate you can be, the better.
-
You can definitely do this. It's possible to lose weight without exercising actually. Perhaps speak to your nurse about appropriate exercises? If you start logging all your calories, that's a great starting place. Good for you, btw, and good luck!
-
I absolutely don't think you're lying! I think YOU think you're eating 1,200 a day! I also think you're eating more than you think - I am trying to help - really, I'm sorry if I'm being clumsy or rude about it. Really. Would you feel comfortable opening your diary - it really would help. If not that's fine, too. Noone's…

I've never been approached once. I'm cute enough but, unfortunately, my personality sucks.
-
Woah... I didn't call anyone anything! I'm just using a process of deduction. The OP's height, weight and activity level gives her a TDEE of 2,445 calories per day. So in two weeks she will have used 34,230 calories. She says she's only eating 1,200 per day - which only makes a total of 16,800. So we have 17,430 calories…
-
OP isn't eating 1,200, though. She's eating over it. WAY over it. How do I know? Because she's 200lb+ and hasn't lost weight in 2 weeks.
-
Well, not really. You can't 'hang on' to energy (in the form of fat) when you're using up more energy living, working and exercising. And if your metabolism stops then you're well, errr... dead.
-
Yeah but that doesn't add up, surely? Anyone who is 200lb+ and active would not have a 2-week weight-loss stall on 1,200 calories a day. Where's the extra energy coming from?
-
^^^ This. You're probably eating more than you think. But you won't know unless you weigh and log every last little morsel that you put in your mouth. Everything! I was SO surprised at how much I was having when I started logging - and some things are so calorie dense you just don't realise it... cake, peanut butter,…
-
No, no, no. My point is she CAN'T be eating only 1,200 calories because of how much she weighs and the fact she's not losing. I'm thinking it's a logging issue.
-
Sorry to hear that. :( Yes I used to have terrible issues with it - debilitating panic attacks and agoraphobia. For many years. Life was hell, in short. It's a sign that your life needs an overhaul actually. The holistic approach is best, imo, ie hit it from all angles which can include; talking therapies, drug therapies,…
-
No question. Just add lots of people on here. They'll keep you on track whether you like it or not!
-
Again... 'eat more'. I really don't see it like that. OP is over 200lb and not losing?
-
I have to say I disagree with this... just because the scale is staying the same and she's not losing. To lose weight she needs to eat less calories, not more, surely? I imagine it's a logging issue, actually.
-
It's no biggie. So you had a little hiatus. You're back in the game, now, that's all that matters. Good luck! x
-
Hey, You definitely should have lost some by now. It may be a logging issue - do you use a food scale? You're doing great - you've made a positive change and you're beginning to turn this around. Stick with!
-
Nice. Perfect, really. What was the question again? *fans self* Oh yeah.. don't lose any more - you've lost all the fat now bulk up to 180-190 ish. Then post pics. Lots of pics. Just so we can, errr, you know - check on your progress.
-
Not really. What do you mean? By volume? By weight? By the amount of energy they give?
-
Soup is absolutely a meal if you choose it to be. It's not 'just' soup. The 'starter, main course, dessert' school of thought just helps restaurants and supermarkets make more money!
-
Perhaps try the TDEE-20% method, as you don't need to log exercise that way - which makes things simpler. There's a calculator at www.fat2fitradio.com

This seems to make sense. Any behaviour which puts people's health at a high risk is, of itself, symptomatic of some kind of disordered thinking. Whether it's a person overeating, a community who abuse drugs or a country sending it's youngsters abroad armed with guns, tanks and bombs. Just my opinion.
