I don't think there is such a thing as too slow of a progression if you add up to you goal distance before the race. I progressed a mile every two weeks or so, but that was me. Listen to your body.

I second interval training. Jog/run fast for a min then walk until your heart slows back down, then repeat. The better you get you can switch the jogging for sprinting and then the walking for jogging.

I was a catcher for 11 years and resulted in some pretty messed up cartilage in my knees. I thought I wouldn't be able to run or jump. However, if they bother me I take some Bayer and make sure to ice them right after exercise. I found that what prevented my knee pain was a good and properly fitted shoes.

I like numbers, charts, graphs and data. (Science nerd) I weight myself everyday and record it just to see the relationship between different exercises, food, micronutrients and water intake everyday. I measure every two weeks or so and that's what I go by to measure my 'success'. I also go by what I see in the mirror!

I log my Vitamins. Just so I can see myself hitting the micronutrients and other vitamin levels. Also, technically my Calcium supplement is 20 calories, so if I take one every day for a week that is 140 calories in a week. I just want to make sure that I'm accountable.

Hey! I'm 5'2 and started at 150.2lbs. My first goal was 125 lbs. Now that I've passed 125lbs, I'm in uncharted waters and unsure how low to go! I'm aiming for 122 right now, but I have 115lbs in the back of my head.

I love almonds so it was easy for me to transition to almond milk. I also think it has a sweetness to it. I'm having some lactose issues, so I'm laying of regular milk. Almond milk has lower calories, but less protein.

It's probably water weight. If you have a lot of weight to lose in the first place, it might come of fairly fast in the beginning but it should slow down.

Something with protein will keep you full. I like 0% Fage greek yogurt and Bare Naked Granola: Protein Plus. Keeps me full for a long time!

My cramps, flow and consistency of flow (watery, heaviness...TMI, I know) all were effected by my diet and exercise.
