Is butter a carb? Whatever, I'm getting cheese fries...

Doesn't bother me - I go for the occasional pork belly/bacon/ribeye too given the chance! Day to day though I try to stick with tofu, chicken, fish, turkey, etc so that I can sneak in dessert and/or a glass of wine.

The bottom line is that creating a caloric deficit will cause you to lose weight, no matter what foods you eat. However, 300 calories of lean protein is going to satisfy you and keep you fuller a lot longer than 300 calories of french fries. So say what you will, but eating healthy most of the time (with treats here and…

Your symptoms sound similar to peptic ulcers or a parasitic infection. You really need to see a doctor to have a workup done.

My boyfriend and I put on a decent amount of weight since we started dating. However, he has put on significantly more that I have, and it's all around his belly (imagine a giant beer belly on a fresh faced, 23 year old former prom king). I still love him, but I've had a really hard time finding him sexy these days. I know…

Hey girl, sending you a request! We have a similar start and goal weight :)

As stated above, naturally fat-rich foods will help get you up to 2300. Even so, if you're full after eating 2000, why push yourself to 2300? You certainly won't go into starvation mode unless you are literally starving yourself. Good luck!

I will admit it's always really encouraging to hop on the scale afterwards and feel like I've lost a few pounds without really trying!

Even when I drink "low-cal" I find that it has big negative impact if I drink too much. I wind up taking a few slices of pizza to the face around 3am and then grazing on anything fried and savory I can get my hands on the next day. Because of this, I really just don't drink like I used to anymore, even in the same circles…

I only count intentional, purposed exercise. It doesn't have to be intense, but something that I went out of my way to do. It's certainly not the only way to do it, but I think it reflects that extra effort a little better.

MFP won't recommend anything below 1200 per day. Since you're petite and close to your goal weight, adding exercise to the mix will be very important. 1200 per day works for me, but I allow myself to go over if I'm genuinely still hungry. Listen to your body, eat filling and high protein foods, and create a calorie deficit…

And here we go....

Hi, I'm Jackie and I'm 23 living in NYC! Feel free to add me! Let me know if you need any city advice before you get here! It's definitely a big shock when you first get here.

I can't sympathize more. I'm in almost the exact same position! Both my boyfriend and I had lost about 25lbs when we met, but we got very comfortable with each other as our relationship grew. I still had a ways to go before I hit my goal weight, but it all went out the window with fun dates and lots of shared food. I…

Welcome! Feel free to add me if you like. I'm around almost every day. Your goals look reasonable and if you commit to it, you can totally do this! Good luck!

I'm so happy that you have someone that is so supportive. Knowing that, I think once he sees what confidence looks like on you, he won't care too much about the curves he's afraid you'll lose! You need to get yourself to a place where you feel good in your own skin, and I'm sure he'll be plenty happy with whatever weight…

I've found that products like this really aren't for me, but I know plenty of people who use them. The successful ones accompany the shakes and vitamins with a healthy diet (and a calorie deficit) and don't rely too heavily on the products for their major sources of nutrition. My advice is just to make it sustainable! Good…

Why do straight people need to advertise the fact?

There's definitely nothing wrong with weighing food, but I typically prefer not to do it because it gets me a little too wound up and obsessive. The one exception to this is that I try to get a weight on meats that I eat because they're definitely difficult to measure by volume. However, those weights are usually on…

I'm not sure if you're a tuna person or not, but I make a low-cal tuna salad with olive oil, brown mustard, and capers. I usually just use 5oz of tuna (you could substitute chicken, salmon, egg, or whatever), a half tbsp of olive oil, one tbsp of spicy brown mustard, and one tbsp of capers. This usually leaves me with…

It's the bestworst thing that's ever happened.

It's not so much the booze you should look out for, but rather sugary mixers or additives. Beer isn't great on cals either. I usually go with a hard liquor and diet soda or seltzer or I stick to wine/champagne. Just go in with a limit in your head of how many drinks you'll have and stick to it. I sometimes alternate…

Not only are you wrong, but you're also just being rude. 1800 is barely a deficit for me based on the BMR and TDEE calculators that I've used.
-
I eat 1200 but I also try not to get too down on myself if I have a hungry day and hit 1400 or so. I always aim for the 1200, but maintaining a deficit is the most important to me. If I dip below 1200 I tend to just get dizzy and hangry. Not good.

I'm just curious. How many nutrition classes have you taken?

I am shorter than you (5'8") and I can't notice much of a difference in the way the dresses in my closet fit until I've dropped or gained about 15lb. Unless you put all 6 of those pounds in the same place, I think your dress should still fit just fine. **edited for spelling

I don't have a gym membership, and even if I did I wouldn't have time to go. I work long hours and study at night, so my schedule is fairly limited. However, I do try to get a good long walk in at least once a week (usually on a weekend) and I often stretch for about ten minutes when I get up in the morning. Other things…

If you're looking for something mild and over the counter, I would recommend green coffee bean extract. I only take half the dose and don't take it every day, but I find it helps to curb cravings a bit. If you're ultra sensitive to caffeine, it may make you a bit jittery, but other than that I've noticed no side effects.…

Oddly, your label seems to be presenting a discrepancy. I would use the 195 calorie measurement for the popped popcorn, as it is what you actually ate (as opposed to the unpopped kernels). Either way, a 45 calorie discrepancy on one day won't kill you :)

My sentiments exactly! Mine's set at the 1200 default and if I ever dip below it I get HANGRY. Even then, I allow myself to sneak up into the 1400-1500 range if I'm just not feeling satisfied on any given day.
