Awesome -that information is great. I did a half two year ago and didn't drink or take gels and found it ok, I'm just worried about the last 6 miles. Once my long run gets up around the 20 mile mark I'll see how my body takes it and decide then.

I've got the Garmin Forerunner 610. I LOVE it, best watch I've had. You do pay a little bit more than some others, especially if you want the heart rate monitor band, which I also like to use. It's great, battery lasts ages, the back light is great if you run in the dark or the rain. GPS is extremely accurate. It's…

Completed registration for the Napa this morning. It's a long way from Australia but I wanted to do a special one for my first. Would be great to know a few other people that are going to be there!

Thanks for the info, sounds like a great run. Unfortunately dates don't fit.

Thank you - this information is great. Unfortunately I have to be in Australia April 26 for a wedding so won't work this year!

Thanks for the tip - that's exactly what I'm planning, arrive the Wednesday or Thursday afternoon (after 22 hours on board the plane) and then have Thurs/Fri/Sat as easy days with just a couple of k's each day to keep legs moving and run the Sunday.

I've looked at the Big Sur, it looks amazing and is definitely high on my list if I get to a second one. Dates don't quite fit for me - so I need to do another.

A big marathon with crowd support would be great. Being the first an easier course and one that isn't going to be to hot temperature wise. Also one that doesn't obviously require a qualification time. Also as I said I plan to have a vacation around it, so somewhere that is good to visit.

Try upping the resistance on the machine, you should definitely feel it in your legs then! Yes they do burn calories. Just up it to the point where it is difficult to get moving. Once you have it moving you'll be fine, so try that. However, if you feel that you are doing more use the treadmill. One other thing you can do…

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm very keen to do it before I hit 30, although I do understand it will be a tough ask. I've done a couple of halves before so I'm hoping that puts me in the right direction. I'm going to have to step up my long runs though. Let's see how it turns out......I'll keep you all posted. Please feel…

I'm very new to all of this and am also looking for some people to help motivate me. I've been on my health kick the last 3 weeks and everything is going in the right direction. I found the app yesterday to log all my food and measure all my exercise, hopefully that helps me to do better. I did my first session of CrossFit…

I'm in the same boat! Feel free to ad me as I need the inspiration as well. I try to run 3-4 times a week and have just started at CrossFit.

Heya, I'm just starting off on my new exercise program as well. I started about two weeks ago and have been running just about everyday. Did my first ever crossfit session and I'm pretty sore now! Good luck with your training, keep going, watching your weight sometimes isn't the best way to see if you're improving, you'll…
