  • I have been taking CoQ10 for several years after my Dr recommended it for treating the side affects of the statin meds I were taking (tiredness, joint/muscle pain, lack of energy). It can take several weeks before theraputic affects are felt due to having to get the levels in your blood up to levels. I take 200mg, 3x a…
  • When first starting you should only weigh yourself every 7 days. I do mine Friday or Saturday morning. Like Nicolla said, this is a marathon, not a sprint, so it doesn't really matter where you are when, just where you finish at. And yes, I also lost a lot of weight the 1st week (10lbs), then 1 lb the second week, gained a…
  • At work, just finished three conference calls and getting ready to start my real work until I go home in about an hour...:ohwell:
  • I admit my recommendation was probably over the top, but it's very evident ignoring and the cold shoulder isn't working AND he is in a position of authority there. So 1st tell him you're not interested and to leave you alone; if that doesn't work you need to report him to his boss (which may be the owners) and tell them if…
  • You are NOT making something out of nothing. Tell him that you'll report him to the management if he doesn't leave you alone. DO NOT tell him he makes you nervous!!! If he doesn't stop, report him. If he's the management, drop your membership, start going to another gym, and report it to the owners and/or the local police.…
  • Ditto - I log everything and try to stay within the bounds.
  • I bought a cheapo at CVS. Most scales are within a couple pounds of each other. Accuracy doesn't matter much if you use the same device for all your weigh-ins. The inacuracy will cancel itself out. Also, don't be fooled by price - consumer reports found a few years that some of the cheaper scales are better thane the…

  • I also HATED them the first time I had them. HHAATTEEDDDD!!! Several years later I tried them again (by accident, in a friends guacamole) and loved them. Only thing I could figure is the first time they were probably still unripe, and the second time they were ripe and mixed with bacon. Yes, they are good for you, just…
  • 1st, start with the FRESHest fish you can find. If using frozen, thaw all the way, throw away the water/liquid, and pat the fish dry with a paper towel. I normally use the pouch method to cook it. Basically start with a piece of parchment paper that's about three times the size of the fish. On one third, layer some fresh…
  • I also use cast iron and LOVE it - my well seasoned pans work great and are easy to clean and NEVER have to worry about scratching them. If something sticks, just scrape out and add water and bring to a boil -- the stuff comes right out. Then dry, cool, and oil with a little bit of oil on a paper towel.
  • According to my doc, yes, they count as water. The diuretic effect is greatly exagerated.

  • true - 2 weeks is too short of a time. My doc said to do BOTH cardio and strength exercises, alternating between the two.
  • Like an earlier post stated, it's the hormones - chocolate triggers the "feel good" hormones and helps you feel good about yourself (why do you think Lupin keeps giving it to Harry Potter?). As long as you're meeting your goals, i wouldn't worry about it.
  • If the pizza is from a local pizza place, ask them if they have the calorie information. They may be surprised you asked, but I bet they can provide it. (they may have to go to the manager, but oh well.)
  • Movie theater popcorn! ~600 calories for a small bag?
  • Yes you CAN recover!!! Just like kayrevan said, finish the day the best you can and start anew tomorrow! Also, remember how you felt when you posted this and keep that in mind the next time the urge hits. Keep up the good work!
  • I don't like salmon patties eaither, but LOVE salmon steaks! We broil them, grill them, or just pan fry with a little salt, pepper, and lemon or lime juice.
  • Bethany28 - I did the updated Adkins diet back in 2003 and lost over 30 pounds and felt MUCH BETTER than I did before. My blood preasure went down as did my cholesterol. I ate MUCH HEALTHIER under Adkins than I did before. The basic idea behind Adkins is to get rid of the junk food, added sugars, refined flours that have…
  • 1st - sorry that your Mom is so insecure that she can't stand the thought of you improving yourself. Most parents want what is best for their children. Just let her comments role off your back and continue doing what you know you should be doing. 2nd - while I agree that her diabetes is largely due to her obessity, being…
  • It's an agressive schedule. Most Drs recommend 1 pound/week vs the 2.5 you are aiming for. If you stick to the exercise and sleep regimen you should be able to meet yor goals. Just be sure you get the required nutrition (to inlclude vitamins and minerals) yor body needs. Good Luck!
  • Kitty - Panera Bread (aka St Louis Bread Company) is very high in calories because of the bread. My wife and I love it, but she has to be very careful because of her diabetes. Eating only half of the bread usually cuts the calorie count by over half! It's now very normal for us to leave half of the bread on the plate, and…
  • 1st - eat a small healthy dinner/snack. Keep in mind that not all calories are the same (think diabetic/glycemic index). 2nd - I'm always shocked by the fast food stuff because off all the BREAD and BREADING. Remove the breading from the breaded shrimp, or eat half the bun, etc, and the calories are acceptable.
