No not really Congratulations on losing that weight and a big drop is sometimes expected in the first week because of losing water weight, however you really want to slow this down. When you haven't got much weight to lose how you lose is less important than what it is that you are losing. When you lose too fast you are…

So they are saying that you need to put on weight to eat a raw vegan diet, because eating 3,000 calories a day and burning 2,000 will lead to weight gain?

I wouldn't compare how long an idea has been around for to whether or not it is a myth, remember in the 1980's fat was the root of all evil and needed to be eliminated from your diet. Look how wrong that turned out to be. Now this is just my opinion but seeing pictures of results from my MFP friends and on the open forum…

No!!! Because cannibalism is still illegal apparently

I am slightly confused about the struggling to eat more calories comment, more calories than what? Eating 80/10/10 still means you need to stay in deficit to lose weight. So if you had to eat 1,400 calories to lose weight before going high carb you will still need to eat 1,400 calories to lose the same amount now

How about fats like olive oil? Oily fish is also calorie dense and good for you. The best way to keep a check on how accurate your burn calories are is your weight loss. If you were netting negative every day then you would be looking at a loss of say 4 lbs per week. I would definitely try with the calorie dense foods,…

I think pineapple gets a bad rap, apart from when it contaminates a pizza and then, yes, it is evil

Maybe its the point that clean eating means a different thing to different people I am not a clean eater by any stretch of the imagination but maybe clean eating is just a term that means the person is making the effort to self prepare more food than they used to and thereby reduce the salt, added sugar and gain more…

Hangover's can affect your workouts though, just my personal experience I know everyone is different

You live in a second floor apartment and looking for cardio exercises? How about something off the wall and really quite cheap? Spend 20 mins walking up and down the stairs to your apartment

Agree ^^^^^ The vast majority of the times "its all about calories" is used on this site seems to be in response to the "why am I not losing weight" threads where the inevitable advice seems to be: Cut out carbs Eat clean Try oil pulling Your gaining muscle Or some other weird and wonderful solution that will obviously…

I have always eaten back my exercise calories and it has worked for me. One word of warning though, it depends on accuracy, accuracy of logging what you eat (weighing and making sure the entries you use are also accurate) and accuracy of exercise burns. I tend to use an HRM (not 100% accurate I know and then deduct my NEAT…

Two words Pom Bears Come in various flavours ready salted, smoky bacon, cheese & onion and a few others I believe 19 g bags are about 97 calories per bag and if you can get your hands on the 15 g bags then its only 75 calories I am a major crisp lover as well and these got me through :-)

You can lose weight by going low calorie (eating below maintenance) without going low carb whereas you don't lose weight by going low carb without eating below your maintenance calories (apart from some initial water weight that comes back when you eat carbs again) Low carb tends to either be a lifestyle choice or a method…

I didn't give it up, nor would I want to because it goes so well with cheese. What I did do however was cut down and took control of what I drank, even to the point where I measure 250 mls out into a jug then top a smaller glass up from the jug so I know exactly how much I have had

I think the occasional unrestricted day is a great idea for many to help them with adherence to their lifestyle change What I don't like is the term 'cheat day' because it suggests that you are doing something wrong or something you should feel guilty about and that should not be the case
-
1.8 lbs for me this week so 187.1 Wont be able to help much because I am supposed to be maintaining

I prefer the Mediterranean diet pyramid and not only because it includes wine  Not sure this is saying avoid potatoes though its just that most of these eating plans don't count potatoes as one of the magical 5 a day

http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/2014/09/is-low-carb-really-king-of-weight-loss/ I believe that this is related to the article and points out some of the flaws in it

New account set up to try and convince people calories in calories out doesn't and post a link to a sugar is the route of all evil video Seems legit to me

I haven't really cut out anything, I do eat less of a lot of things such as bread, for no other reason than I found it a waste of calories most of the time and I went months without a McDonalds and even now they are a very rare treat. I drink less alcohol and eat marginally less cheese. The big difference was really in…

Where is the like button Caught out again :embarassed:

This ^^^^^ We drink fluids for hydration and not only do drinks such as coffee, tea, soda and even weak beers count but so do some foods There is a myth perpetuated by the bottled water companies about the number of litres you need to drink per day because it is good for sales (I believe it was Evian who initially came out…

I have repeated several weeks but normally if I have had a gap of more than a week for whatever reason. Always leave the day between runs that they suggest though There are times when I didn't think I could finish a run but got there and the sense of achievement is great Personally I have had to switch to a treadmill for…

Because MFP calorie goals are calculated from your NEAT the system assumes that you are not going to exercise and therefore expects you to eat back your exercise calories. Now if you eat them back and don't lose at the expected rate or you don't eat them back and only lose at the predicted rate it means there is some…

This ^^^^^ Also why are you looking to lose 4 - 5 lbs per week with only 37 lbs left to go? You would need a daily deficit of 2,500 calories to lose at 5 lbs per day, not only is that difficult to achieve, trying is not particularly healthy either If you open up your diary people might be able to offer more advice
-
Weight will come off provided you are in a deficit and are being accurate in your logging. Do you weigh all of the food you eat and measure everything you drink? Do you check the calories shown for the foods you eat (against packets or other on line sources) because there is a lot of inaccurate data on here? Do you, where…

Or oysters with bloody mary sauce

There could be several reasons that you are not losing weight, water retention, medical condition etc but the most likely cause is that you are not eating at a deficit Are you weighing everything you eat and measuring everything you drink? You will need to open up your diary for people to be able to give more detailed…
