  • I started Zumba this past spring after knee surgery and 6 weeks of PT. I love it - so much fun. My class is mixed ages and abilities; everyone does what they can but after a few classes, I could do more than I thought. Good weight loss, toning and made new friends as well. You get out of it what you put in. I can't say…
  • You should be very excited! That 1st pound can be the hardest one to lose. I lost .6 this week and I'm stoked!! Better than a gain
  • My mantra is: Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. don't ever stop trying to get healthy. don't let your "friends" bring you down because you're fighting a battle that they might not be part of. ask them for support. If they can't be helpful, are they really friends? I"ve been slowly losing (!) for almost 7 years with…
  • shopping on a full stomach is much easier! My best advice received is portion control (for food) and just move (for exercise). Those are probably 2 of the most basic issues, but they got me started and keep me going. And I'm still doing both and more 64 pounds later.
  • a HUGE yay for you! now you have another reason to be proud of your efforts :flowerforyou:
  • wow - don't listen to your fiance! If he won't support you getting healthier you need to look elsewhere. Start with yourself, family, friends and here of course. Please don't let him drag you down. Does his opinion really matter to you about your health? Good luck - you can do it - one day at a time!!
  • hang in there! I did super low-carb diet for 5 weeks (with exercise) before I saw any loss. Don't give up! A small weight loss is easier to keep off too!
  • run, don't walk those 87 steps in the opposite direction. At the end of the day, you'll be so proud of yourself. I used to work at an elementary school and the teachers' lounge was a free for all of food. Tell the home ec teacher next year think healthy!!
  • guess I should have added that when I was diagnosed I had been losing weight and keeping it off. I had an Ablation (which I highly reccommend instead of a hysterectomy!!) and got right back to losing weight thru healhy eating and exercise. After being laid up for 6 months with a bad knee, I am once again back at the fight…

  • I change my snacks weekly so I don't get bored and eat badly. This week I'm having a full size rice cake with PB on top. Last week, it was a 1/2 c of unsalted in the shell peanuts.
  • bad days happen to everyone - just get back on the d@%# wagon :) One day at a time is all we can do. Have a goal of 4 successful days in a row! Then go for 5, 6, 7..... please don't give up.
  • If one more doctor says how difficult it is to lose weight after 40 - yikes! I am 47 and have been losing slowly and steadily since turning 41. This past week I really cut my carbs - some days by more than 1/2. I have lost a pound and I know inches (because my clothes are way looser). I have my official weight and measure…
  • I am lucky to work for a small company - I can have water at my desk and use the restroom often. I have a tupperware tumbler with lid that holds 32 oz. Crystal lite helps - I try to have at least 2 different flavors at work so I don't get bored. On good days, I drink 2 tumblers full at work. On really good days, I drink 3!…
  • Nikki - I've been there so many times. DO NOT GIVE UP! Your body changes daily. Stay off the scale - it's not worth being defeated after all your hard work. You've got to give it time. Weight loss is a life change. I've been making my change for 6 years. Slow loss but keeping it off and I"m so excited with each goal met!!…
  • I am experimenting this week too. I am just 1 week out of physical therapy after knee surgery and trying to get back to exercise too. So for breakfast this week I have 2 eggs, scrambled with skim milk. Lunch is a wrap made of smoked turkey, cheese wrapped in a romaine lettuce leaf. Dinner varies but keeping it low carb…
  • hey Donna - My name is Karen. I signed up for this site about 3 weeks ago and I love it! A food journal has always helped me. I've lost 60 pounds slowly and kept it off. I had knee surgery 2 months ago and am just now out of physical therapy. I'm just getting back to working out. I'm on here everyday - sometimes I keep the…
  • good for you! We all struggle with portions, sugars, exercise,... sometimes you just need a treat to keep you going mentally and emotionally. Let's hear it for treats!
  • this is great! I shared it with my co-workers too.
