  • Morning ride - 17.83 miles @13.4 mph, 80 minutes on the bike. It has been chilly (upper 50's) the last couple of mornings which has made for a more enjoyable ride. The only thing is that I have to remind myself to drink - less sweat, less obvious need for water replacement. Oh, I surpassed 700 miles for the year with this…
  • I have noticed that you like to speak in absolutes and as if your experience of keto is a universal truth. This paragraph especially illustrates my point: I have eaten keto, and usually do it during the winter months when I can't get out on the bike (and burn off all those 'nasty' carbs) and I'm relegated to using the gym…

  • @Jabba2Hans Actually, it makes a lot of sense. When you use the strips, you are really looking at the amount of ketones that your body is discarding (you ARE checking your urine). In the example that you have given, you just ate a bunch of carbs, and your body will ALWAYS prioritize carbs as an energy source over any other…
  • Back on the bike this morning - 17.04 miles @ 13.7 mph average. Will be doing DB/body weight work later today.
  • 9/22: Exercise - rest day so no scheduled exercise Food - protein 119 grams, carbs 123 grams net A good day 9/23: Exercise - no bike ride, minor family emergency kept me up past midnight so I slept in, did manage to get some body weight work in so not a total waste for exercise Food - protein 129 grams, carbs 132 grams net…
  • 9/21 Good food day, scheduled rest day for exercise. 9/22 Good food day, lousy exercise day, no bike (minor family emergency kept me up past midnight, so I slept til 6:30 instead of getting up to ride). Did manage to get in some push-ups and squats, so not a total bust Back on the horse (wheeled horse  ) this…
  • Today is a rest day - no bike ride this morning. Will be doing some lighter body weight stuff this afternoon.
  • 9/21: Exercise was good, rode 18.21 miles before work and then ran errands after work to stay active. Still a bit sore this morning from the flooring work over the weekend. Did not ride this morning - daughter has to be at school by 8 on Tuesdays, so not enough time to get a ride in before taking her - will be doing body…
  • 9/21: Exercise -> rode 18.2 miles yesterday morning @ 13.3 mph avg Food -> good food day yesterday, protein 135 grams, carbs 157 net No ride this morning, daughter has to be at school by 8 on Tuesdays, so I don't have time to get in a ride and get her there. Will be doing body weight and DB workouts thru the day instead.
  • 9/20: Thursday and Friday were good food days, protein and carbs where they should be. Rode the bike Thursday before work, but not Friday... Thursday was date night with the missus and we didn't get in until really late, which means that I slept in till 6:30 Friday morning (oh, the horror!). The weekend was a crush... no…
  • 9/18-9/19 Exercise -> pulled carpet and installed laminate flooring in the last room of the house that hadn't been done. Lots of squatting, lunges, etc plus walking back and forth to the saw. Also some heavy lifting when cleaning out the room and putting all the furniture back. Food -> Saturday was not so good... didn't…
  • Weekend workout was to pull the carpet and put laminate flooring down in the last room in the house. I can finally mark that project as complete - across the summer, I replaced all the flooring in the house that was not tile approximately 1300 square ft of flooring replaced in total. Morning ride today was 18.21 miles @…
  • No specific exercise, but I pulled carpet, padding, base boards, tack strips to prep a bedroom for new flooring. After all that, I installed the vapor barrier and did half the laminate flooring. I will finish the laminate tomorrow, re-install the base boards and then put the furniture back in the room. A busy weekend for…
  • No deliberate exercise this morning... was out late with the better half and slept in this morning (got up at 6:30 instead of 5:30  ) Will be getting exercise after work by moving all the furniture out of one of the bedrooms... gonna pull the carpet and replace it with laminate flooring this weekend. This is the…
  • 9/17: Exercise -> bike 18.52 miles @ 13.5 mph avg Food -> protein was good at 107 grams, carbs were high at 159 net grams Didn't get to ride this morning, was out very late with the better half and slept in this morning (meaning that instead of getting up at 5:30, I got up at 6:30). Will be moving furniture out of the back…
  • Thanks! I usually ride 4-5 days a week before work - get out of the house around 6:30 and be back online by 8:00. Gives me an incentive to keep up the pace  .
  • I'm pretty sure they use an accelerometer - I usually get between 6,000 and 8,000 steps during my morning bike rides, but a vigorous weight lifting session (like leg days) where I don't move around a lot doesn't have the same effect.
  • 9/16: Got a bike ride in yesterday before work -> 17.9 miles @ 13.9 mph avg <- and today before work -> 18.52 miles @ 13.5 mph avg <-. Difference between the two rides... yesterday was cool and low humidity and today was warmer (still cool) but humidity was 78 when I left the house... really saps the energy when I can't…
  • It's that expensive because you are paying for the brand and that's what the market will bear. In my humble and worthless opinion, the reason that they put all the sugar and flavorings in the coffee is to hide the fact that they roasted the beans (at least in the dark coffees) to death and they are trying to hide the burnt…
  • 9/16: Rode 17.9 miles yesterday on the bike at 13.9 mph avg. Didn't do any other exercises because of work constraints. Food - Protein 117 grams, carbs 154 net grams. Carbs were a little higher than I wanted but not terribly so. Weight is going down, slowly, but still going down.
  • Morning ride - 18.52 miles, 13.5 mph avg, 83 minutes. We have returned to mugginess... dang it!
  • 9/15: Mid month check-in Bike miles -> 155.92 Steps -> 95,738 Weight loss -> 3 lbs On track to make my goals for the month (except maybe weight, but with it going down I am happy). I have been eating more consistently and have kept protein at 118 grams average per day and net carbs at 128 grams per day. I have also been…
  • 9/15: No bike yesterday, but I did a shoulder work-out with super-sets of OHP, flys and front raises (4 sets). Also did curls as part of the super-sets. Food was in check - 126 grams of protein and 125 net grams of carbs. I'm thinking I will keep the carbs around that level - my ride this morning was great and I clocked my…
  • Plus the Arctic natives have genetic adaptations to the high fat diet that most of the world does not have.
  • I love the floor calculations on the wearable tech - I did my ride this morning and now my Fitbit says I have done 25 floors for the day... did change height above sea level on the ride but haven't left the ground yet.
  • Morning ride - 17.9 miles, 13.9 mph avg, 77 minutes. Yesterday was a no-ride day, but I did do shoulders with super sets of db flys, overhead press and front raises (10, 10, 8, 8) plus curls (10, 10, 8, 8). Hadn't worked shoulders in awhile so I'm a little sore this morning.
  • No ride this morning - family stuff got in the way... doing a shoulder workout at home with dumbbells and then curls.
  • 9/14: Exercise: 17 mile bike ride before work, 125 incline push-ups (5 sets x 25 reps) Food: protein was good at 117 grams and carbs at 138 net grams Started doing DB workouts today (at the house) since I couldn't get out on the bike this morning. Concentrating on shoulders/upper body since I figure my legs are getting a…
  • That was a 17 mile ride before work this morning... don't know what happened to the 7 in the original post. Also, some general encouragement for folks... The bike riding has been good, but there has been that voice in the back of my head (I'm sure you are familiar with THAT voice) telling me that I am not going as fast as…
  • Best suggestion would be to try it both ways and see if it makes a difference for you. Some peeps like to eat before exercise and some don't. It's basically personal preference.
