I would also add that over half the population of the world eats rice (rice is a grain) as a basic go-to staple for a major portion of their daily calories.

There is a great answer to this on Physqnomics, but the short answer is, yes you will burn more fat to fuel the exercise, but in the long run, fasted training has no significant difference.to fed training on long term body fat loss.

I am super impressed with your progress and super excited that you and your fiance have found a way of eating that works for you! I didn't even need to see the before pictures to know that you have made tremendous progress - I could see it in your face! As to the disagrees that natasor is accumulating, I am not surprised.…

Actually, I think there is one study out there (I can't find it today or I would link it here) that shows an insulin spike in rats caused by sucralose. The only problem with the study is that you would have to mainline the diet soda to get the blood concentrations of sucralose components that the study was using to produce…

I am late to the conversation here, but it just amazes me that people (both doctors and patients) have such an issue with the concept of the doctor mentioning the patient's weight. I am paying the doctor good money to help me manage my health in the best way possible, and as it has been well demonstrated and determined…

I think we got Africa as well... and don't ever offer to let the poor starving kids have your plate of food...

The highest source of oxalates in normal foods are spinach, berries, and chocolate. I find that I don't have issues as long as I limit my consumption of these to 1 or 2 servings a week and don't mix them together on the same day. The other big contributor to stones is dehydration. When you get dehydrated or are cronically…

Really, really not how the human body works... 1. What brought him to his current state is over-consumption of calories (regardless of where those calories came from). Full stop. 2. Carbs ARE what the body prefers as an energy source. Carbs are the preferred energy source because they are the most bio-available energy…

Friday Steps -> 6,805 Calories -> 1,542 (130p/123nc) Exercise -> Biked 13.9 miles Got back on track yesterday with calories and exercise. It feels really good to get back on the bike, I have adjusted to the seat again and I am added speed/mileage each time I go out. Weight was down again this morning (only .1 lbs, but…

Thursday Steps -> 2645 Calories -> way north of what they should have been Exercise -> no exercise, last day of feeling punky from Monday Yesterday was a total train wreck in terms of calories... did good during the day but just couldn't stop snacking last night. Dude, if you didn't get notified, it was a problem on your end, not theirs. I got multiple e-mails stating that the breach had happened and what to do about it. It was also flagged at login to the site, and there was a banner on the main user page stating that the issue had occurred and what to do about it. The company…

It's not dangerous weather - all of the trail heads are in burn areas (currently on fire).

My wife recommended it to me.

It's strictly for rec and doesn't serve any shopping/business/education. There is another rec path on the other side of town, never been there on a weekday, but weekends that path is almost unusable for the number of people who are there. By contrast, the local path is usually desserted on weekends. And the drivers around…

Friday check-in: Steps -> 11,967 Cals -> 1,517 (141p/110nc) Exercise -> 3.4 mi walk to the store and back, active the rest of the day Exercise was good, it was a nice morning to walk to the store. Wife and I went to Costco after she got home from work so that added a nice little sum to my steps as well. Food was good, kept…

Saw this same thing on the beaches in Rio - the younger folks tended to be fairly fit, but that didn't stop the older males from wearing the banana hammocks covered by gut rolls.

I forgot one (that really bugs my BH) - when I eat a 3 Musketeers bar, I eat all of the chocolate off the outside first and then I eat the fluffy nougat center. It's the only candy bar that I do this with, but the only way that I eat them (even the little bite size ones).
-
M&M's and Skittles are always eaten 2 at a time (matching colors). When I run out of matches, I eat the singles one at a time from darkest color to lightest color. Other than that, I am very monogamous in my eating habits - I can eat the exact same things several days in a row (including leftovers). My wife does not…

If you are having DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), then yes, you will be retaining water that helps with muscle recovery and repair.

I actually (based on my own experience) believe this is one of the lesser issues. The biggest issue I see, is getting people to use the facilities when they are provided. I live in a major metropolitan area and there are 4 'linear parks' - walking/biking paths - that have well maintained concrete paths, a couple are tree…

Tuesday: Steps -> 6,842 Cals -> 1,700 (136p/105nc) Exercise -> Road bike (11.5 miles), stayed active as well Monday was a good day for exercise and food. The bike is feeling better, but it will take a couple more rides to get my 'bike butt' back. Yesterday was a little hungrier than normal, so I ate a little above target -…
