As has already been discussed up-thread, all of her claims in that silly book are based on the dopamine response in the brain, which is total nonsense. The reason that it is total nonsense is that ANY THING that everything that gives you pleasure also causes a dopamine response in the brain - petting a puppy, holding a…

Look for your exercise under cardio - like calisthenics - that should allow you to enter minutes.

Not to 1-up you, but... My wife had a brain aneurysm 3 years ago, ct scans, mri's, etc, + brain surgery to install a stint/coils to block the bleed and a month long stay in neuro-ICU following that... total billed cost (not what the insurance actually paid, but billed cost) was over $700,000 when all was said and done. As…

The definition of low carb is not carved in stone anywhere, but the generally accepted value for 'lower' carb is > 150 grams a day and 'low' carb is > 100 grams a day. Keto is generally defined as less than 20 grams a day, but some people (myself included) can maintain ketosis eating any where between 30 and 50 grams a day.

There already is a 'snake diet' out there - I won't post a link to it, but you can google it... basic concept is that snakes only eat every 2-3 days so we should also... just nope!
-
Nope - he was talking about the EPOC calories, not the calories for the 1 hour ride - the EPOC calories are only 28... that's definitely not 1.5 bags of M&M's...

The net carbs is valid... if the fiber they add to the product is non-soluble fiber, the body cannot process that fiber (i.e. cannot digest it and cannot gain calories from it) and all it does is pass thru the digestive system. Some foods - like oats - contain soluble fiber that the body actually does process, but most…

Yeah, but notice how they are hedging their bets - they say 'Lose 10 lbs by next week', but they do not say you can lose 10 lbs of fat. It is actually very easy to lose that much weight in a week when most of the weight loss is WATER and not FAT. Of course, it is just as easy to put that water weight back on, but who's…

Half of my dinner one day last week was a 350 calorie cookie (and dam it was good)!

Since this just popped up in another thread (again) - insulin is the boogyman and is evil!!!

I guess I read your reply wrong - I'm in the 'no magic' camp myself - IF just happens to fit my normal eating pattern and helps me restrict calories pretty effortlessly.
-
What magic do you think there is to IF?

Our company policy is the same - the only excuse accepted for not being on the booked flight is a delay/cancellation by the airline (for weather, maintenance, etc). No volunteering for discounts, etc is allowed. As for the original topic, most of the smaller regional airlines have had this policy in place for years. It is…

I eat dark chocolate every day, chips several times a week, pizza, the occasional cookie, donuts, etc. I have take-out breakfast tacos usually every weekend - easy to grab and go when MBH and I are doing yard work on the weekends, especially in the spring/summer when we are getting the planting beds in order and set-up for…

Seriously folks, there is TEXAS and there is NOT Texas... get it right! (j/k)

I'll bring the pickles!!!

Funny you say that, when I went for my second dose I told the lady who was doing the screening that I didn't get my 5G bump from the first shot so I was expecting a REALLY big jump from the second one... she was still laughing as I walked away

I can agree with the opinion of milk... I grew up drinking milk straight from my grandfather's dairy cows. Store bought milk is disgusting! I haven't had a glass of milk since my grandfather retired and shut down the farm.

Heretic!!!!

If you are comfortable at the current weight and have no medical issues that are compounding things (where losing weight would affect the solution), then why not stay at your current weight? I know that you see and read about people who are 'skinnier', but that is them - not you. You do you and let them do them. PS -…

Click on the poster's picture, you will get a pop-up, click on the pop-up and you will be taken to a page with a button labeled with 'Add Friend'. Click on the button to add that person as a friend.

This is a really hard one to get rid of... there was a recent MFP blog (one of the blogs posted in the emails that get sent out) where an RD started the article with the tired old nonsense about how skipping breakfast tells your body to down-regulate it's metabolism because food is in short supply... just sigh.
-
So do I and there were definitely snacks. My family did not eat 3 meals a day - usually never had a 'breakfast' type meal, just lunch and supper. We had breakfast foods in the house (cereal - Wheaties, Cheerios, Wheat Chex, Pop Tarts, etc) but being busy high school students, we just didn't eat breakfast before school.…

Nope - they are not necessary nor are they required (your body can synthesize all of the glucose it needs from fat and protein). They are however tasty, filling (for some) and deliver a wide range of micro nutrients. As to the original question - a very good friend!

Piggy back off of this... there was a thread on Friday where someone called ice cream a simple carb... DOH!!

The Kroger I shop in has along the walls: deli meat counter, organic processed foods, produce, dairy (including pre-made coffee creamer), eggs, cheese, frozen pastries/cookie dough, butter, yogurts, meat counter, frozen packaged foods, pharmacy and seasonal items. Staples like beans, rice, frozen veggies and fruits are…

I agree with all of this except the last sentance... I am 59 and have no issues working out fasted.

There was this one (that was closed): https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10827226/covid19-to-vaccinate-or-to-not-vaccinate#latest But there was another that got even more heated than the one above and it is nowhere to be found...

My granddaughter thinks they are candy too - she will eat a quart of them without coming up for air!

It got somewhat heated and the mods nuked it...
