  • I actually did think about that theory. One thing i did, when i first started my weight loss, was to switch from regular Coke to Zero. After losing quite a lot of weight successfully, i thought that perhaps dropping it completely will help with reducing carvings. Tried that for month, got opposite result. Clearly in my…
  • Well, it's 2017 and most of us have this amazing gadget in our pockets - it's called a smartphone and it makes taking notes very simple. But wait - it gets even better! This amazing gadget has a camera, and it can be used to scan bar codes on food packaging and automagically enter them into this superb piece of software…
  • Offline music playback of course. So I would finally be able to go for a run an leave my phone at home. Most of the competition has it by now. I like Ray's reviews too. Still, Garmin (and Fitbit for that matter) is not a scale company. It's not their core business. I'm sure it's a fine, decent scale, but for a price... I…
  • I agree regarding watches, though they are still missing one crucial feature in modern world. A scale though...
  • I don't have a Garmin scale, so can't comment uploading part, but I have a Garmin watch, so I use Garmin Connect app. Weight I manually log in MFP gets always synced down to Garmin Connect.
  • I weigh daily also and current batteries have been in my scale for a year at least.
  • I find it odd that analog versions are still available, given that price difference is almost non-existent. Technically the weighting mechanism is the same regardless of display type. More expensive ones tend to be more accurate and better calibrated. But I can't even imagine trying to figure out my weight with 100 gram…
  • If i remember correctly, MFP should adjust calorie goal after you have logged 5 kg or greater loss. But sometimes automatic ajustment fails, so it's best to set goal again after every 5kg or so.
  • Wow. American calorie calculation seems to be really complicated...
  • Helps me all the time too ;)
  • Odds are that most people leave it as default, since they don't need better accuracy or it's good enough ballpark for them or they just don't care. I have found that my Garmin watch has my default stride length estimated quite decently accurate, based on my height, weight and age. As for running, my watch has GPS, so…
  • This^
  • Just measure your stride length and set it to that.
  • Both are relatevly inaccurate, and only serve as indicators. That said most decent modern fitness trackers adjust to wearers stats over time and become more accurate. As far as excersice goes, for steady state cardio, such as running, cycling or walking a tracker with heart rate strap is most accurate, that is more…
  • I never paid any attention to my fibre intake. Seems too complicated - not worth it. Nothing bad has happened yet :)
  • It really depends how much you have to lose. It can be really expensive. Of course being a male, it was probably simpler for me. Still, my t-shirt size went from 6XL to M within 3 years and during that time I either threw away or or gave away 8 200 litre garbage bags full of clothes, which I had to replace. Of course I…
  • Number on a scale is a proxy, it's just an indicator of some things. Mirror however never lies :D Weight trending so is still fun to use though, unless you're very twitchy ;)
  • Time machines do not exist. You can't start a week all over again. Weight loss is a long term process, setting weekly goals seems very counterproductive. So what if you lose half a pound in a week, or zero pounds, or if life happens, gain a pound? You don't just "reset" your life or give up. Just continue on and try to be…
  • Wow, a week... Give it a month or 2 and if nothing has changed by then, it's time to make changes. Meanwhile make sure that you're weighing your food and logging it properly. Even if you lose 2-3 lbs in first week or 2, you most likely won't feel it or see it in the mirror yet.
  • Can very well take longer too. Moderate caloric deficit and decent weight lifting program helps.
  • I'm quite sure that you eat way more than 1500-2000 Cal. I was 150 kg / 330 lbs when I started, and lost over 30 kg eating steady 2400 Cal without any excercise except some light walking some days.
  • That's exactly how it works for me too. People are very different.
  • This doesn't make any sense. Firstly, it's literally not possible to eat zero carbs. You can get that number very low, but not to zero. Secondly, vegatables usually consist of about 90% carbs. And as said above, cutting carbs doesn't cause fat loss, caloric deficite does. If you feel better eating low carb, do it. But it…
  • Have found that old pictures of myself are very motivating ;) Still sometimes I gave to drag myself to gym and after some very stressful days I just can't find strength to go. In that case I'll go next day, or take a longer walk, or run a bit later in the evening. Thankfully I like salads. But I'm sometimes picky with…
  • Couple months ago I was abroad and ate all kinds of weird things at different restaurants. I gained over 5 kg of water weight in 5 days. That extra weight went away in a week, once I was back home with my usual routine.
  • Ignore the projection. It's just an indicator. It's not really possible to estimate progress of 5 weeks based on single day. Also, unless you have a lot of weight to lose, 2lb/1200 Cal plan is likely too agressive.
  • For me it has been WAY harder, in fact it still is. How - precise logging and paying close attention to results.
  • I lost 50 kg / 110 lbs without any excercise. So sure you can. Was it a good idea? Most likely not.
  • Not only unlikely, it's physically impossible. It is normal fluctuation due to your high sodium foods last night. It will be gone in a week, given you're eating as you normally do.
  • How do you measure your food intake? If those have been your food choices so far, then unless you're eating only one meal per day it's very likely that you eat way more than 800 kcal. 100ml of coke or similar soft drink is ~ 50 Cal, or average glass of it is 125, average fruit juice about the same. Pizza and burgers can be…
