i thin you need to try a level for a few weeks and see how it works for you and adjust. I think my organs are working just fine on 1200 cals (plus exercise cals up to about 1500) and I have lost 23 lbs in about 2 months. No one has the answer, there are indeed many answers.

I think folks want to give themselves an acheivable goal... knowing they may re-evaluate later.... at least that is my position. I am starting with an "acceptable" weight, after that I may continue but will have been successful if I do not.

I aqm 5'8" At my heaviest I was 230(Dec 2012) Started MFP at 222 (Feb 2012) Current 197 shooting for 160 then I will reevaluate.

if you look in the mfp tools page and calculate your bmi, it will tell you the range of healthy for your height. it is from that that I set my 1st goal (to get into the range), from there I will reassess.

I get my husband to do bath time - sometimes I work out while they are having dinner and I just have a shake or something light. Lunch time from work is possible too sometimes.

it depends on your shape and the cut of the dress.... it may be more than 20 lbs for the apples (like me)

i can't actually help... but I am extremely impressed!

i log everything, i want to know what damage I have done. sometimes its not as much as I think and easily balanced out with an extra exercise session.

Great feedback here. I also use an excercycle, mine has a built in hrm and mfp sometimes grossly (but always to some degree) overesimates the cals burned by comparison. I generallly burn 230-280 per half hr.
