  • Vegetable soup is my all time favorite. I probably make it a little different each time however here is the gist. I am going to try in crock pot this week and see if tastes the same. I am new to the crock pot experience. Good beef broth, I use Kitchen Basics canned diced tomatoes and canned tomato sauce if have fresh go…
  • What have you been doing for exercise? Your weight loss is amazing and what you lost in the last 2 weeks is great. Have you noticed any non-scale changes? Clothes looser?
  • Yikes! Surgery must have been rough. I have thought of getting the foam rolls for massage. I used to use at gym but for some reason they don't have any more. Thanks for the suggestion. Congratulations are your weight loss success!
  • What beautiful survivors I see on this post.
  • 5th day on MFP. When you say "add me" does that mean I will receive a friend request? Anyway, add me! I have 160 pounds overall I want to lose and my main goal right now is not to binge. I eat very healthy balanced meals however when I binge I can consume 5,000-10,000 calories in one sitting. I have been struggling a long…
  • Have you noticed any other changes that can indicate loss? Clothes looser? I'm 5'7 and my caloric intake is set at 1,651 calories per day. I am much heavier than you. For someone your height you should eat around 1,500 or so calories and really shouldn't go lower than 1,500. If you are eating closer to 1,400 that can be a…
  • Many large and small things that have happened in my life have made significant impact, good and bad. At an early age and many years ongoing I was abused in every way possible. I survived by developing an eating disorder (ED) at age 4 and by age 12 was a drug addict and alcoholic. My whole life I have been known for my…
  • I would need a little more information to be of any benefit to you. How much do you weight? How tall? Is 1,400-1500 calories what is recommended by MFP when all is calculated?
  • It could be all that was mentioned above. You may have hit a plateau that if you shake up your work outs will help with that however for me when I have eaten a well balanced diet at the correct caloric intake it is always an emotional need masked in a food craving. Are you experiencing more stress? Are you having feelings…
  • Agree, no foods should be off limits. Goal is to most meals eat a well balanced meal, I find having variety works best for me. My goal is not binging. Other than that I want to eat 3 meals/day. Figure out the foods you like and plan your meals. If you eat things that you don't like, you probably won't stay on path with…
  • Exercising in a pool is the best overall exercise for chronic pain. There is no impact on joints. Are you ok in the water? Some are afraid. If you are ok you can water walk, jog, do laps, water aerobics, wear a buoyancy belt to deep water jog, anything you can do on leg, cardio and strength training can be done in water. I…
  • Congratulations on your weight loss. Are you now at your goal? Contact your insurance company and they should supply via mail what the requirements are for abdominal skin removal surgery. That is usually the only part of ones body covered by insurance. There needs to be a medical reason to qualify for surgery. Usually the…
  • Great ideas! Thanks for the help. I love massage therapy and have not gone lately due to so uncomfortable about my weight. I guess it is time to put on my big girl panties and just get over that. I will check out Pilates and yoga. I have On Demand t.v. and may find them there.
  • I would not exercise any more, none of it, until you are seen by your doctor. I recommend you be seen ASAP. Never ever mess around with chest pain. If it turns out to be muscular then you can go from there, but always want to rule out not a cardiac issue.
  • Hi I hope you are doing better regarding depression. I have had 2 episodes of clinical major depression that each lasted a long time. Self care was impossible for me during these times. You should have no issues going to an adequate food intake. Eat the amount recommended on MFP. I would probably avoid weighing for a while…
  • I don't have pre or type 2 diabetes but want to avoid developing it. My mother was diagnosed later in life and developed complications. Weight loss and exercise best way to manage blood sugars so congratulations on your rejoining MFP and asking for support. Eileen do you happen to know what your A1c blood test result was?…
  • Since you have never used a gym I would suggest you go to several in the area, tell them you would like to work out for the day and see if this is a fit for you. In my youth I loved working out at different gyms. I would ask if you can take a class, one that you think you would if had a membership and see if you like it.…
  • It probably is best to support him at this time how he wants to be supported. You can ask him what would be helpful. You voiced your concern and he was not interested today but maybe will be another day. I would just let it go at this point. He will soon find out how his body will respond to 1,200 calories.
  • Being sick for me is very challenging and I tend to over eat. I am working on plans in future so this does not have to happen. Just go back to your previous way of eating and focus on how much fun you will have in 3 weeks at the party.
  • How do you feel at that weight? Your BMI is 18.7, the low end of healthy, but still in healthy range per Mayo Clinic calculator. If you feel good at this weight, having your periods then this should be a good weight for you. If you don't feel good and not having periods regularly then try adding more calories. How many…
  • Hi I really could relate to your post. I am just starting out but have in past been very successful then always fell back into comfortable behavior that is very damaging to my health and happiness. I gained over 120 pounds in a very short time after my boyfriend died end of 2006. I have now been trapped in some very old,…
  • Great that should really help. The body goes into starvation mode if you eat too few calories and main goal is for you to survive so your body holds onto weight to keep you alive. It is life or death at this point. Goal is to eat as many calories as you can and meet weight loss goals. 1,600+ should work. Hope you do well…
  • Hi, You may actually be hungry. I am an RN and my job is working with patient's regarding their health and one thing is weight loss. How many calories are you eating? How tall are you? Are you still losing weight? When you say bloated (remember I'm an RN so nothing bothers me lol) one thing comes to mind are you having…
  • Hi, I too would like someone to talk to/email. This is my first time on this site. I plan to be honest with others and especially myself. I also have struggled with weight since I was 4. I now have 160 pounds to lose and am age 52. I know it is possible, but oh so hard. I struggle with binging. I have healthy eating until…
  • Hi everyone! My name is Liz and I am 52 years old. I have 160 pounds I would like to lose. I have successfully lost >150 pounds which I maintained over 5 years. I have then been gaining back. Maintained >100 pound weight loss for another 12 years and then regained all of it over a very short time in 2006/2007. Even thought…
