  • SAHM of 2 here! Looking to get fit after my babies! Feel free to add me!
  • I hear you. SInce I am sooooo super skinny up top, people think I am crazy for wanting to lose. Being pear shaped means it can hide well in clothes! I want to be able to feel completely comfortable in a bathing suit and for my hubby again! My body seems to like to sit between 125 and 130. I am fortunate that I don't really…
  • If I do anymore squats and lunges... haha! I am trying. I am hoping this eat more thing works! I have to admit it is a little scary! Sending a friend request if you don't mind....
  • I am not doing C25k, but I started running 3.5 weeks ago. I still HATE it! It is the most mental form of exercise I have ever done. I signed up for a 4k to challenge myself and do something different. I am super active and do tons of cardio. Running is way harder in my mind than on my body. My body is strong enough to keep…
  • Thanks for responding. I am 5'2" and 125lbs. I do lift currently and I am trying to increase lifting and reduce cardio. I may have to get a protein powder. I didn't think of that. The bars are gross and probably have to much sugar for me. (I am hypoglycemic.)
  • I have to say, it works well for me because this is the food that I like to eat naturally. I personally love veggies. This plan is tons of them. That is what keeps you so full. I am a very small female, so I would do 2 block meals (most people do more than that). Which meals 2 blocks of carbs, 2 blocks of fat, and 2 blocks…
  • I have eaten this way! Actually thinking about trying it again to get more healthy carbs. I have actually found this to be the easiest diet to follow. If you look for the crossfit journal - zone diet, they have a great pdf to get you started. I found it easy because the way I did it, it was virtually no cooking. Just…
  • Goes to show you that everybody reacts differently. I am also hypoglycemic and do much better restricting the "bad" carbs. I still have them, just maybe once or twice a week. Otherwise, my system gets all out of whack.
  • Thanks for responding! I am guessing to set it up, you have to enter some info that gives you an idea of your bmr or whatever. Is there anyway to know how accurate that is. I am actually needing to eat more but I don't know how much, so I am having a hard time figuring that out. It is scary! lol
  • Does FitBit pretty much just track your activity? I am not worried about moving more. I have been told I move too much! I am worried about accurately figuring out how many calories I need a day. The TDEE calculators seem WAY high for me. I was just wondering if this would help me figure it out. Thanks for the input and…
  • I don't eat 1000 calories everyday. Some days I eat 900 calories and some days I eat 1700 calories. I would say it probably averages out to be about 1200 a day. There are some days I am just not very hungry. Other days, usually weight training days, I am starving! I am very small but also very active and I still MAINTAIN…
  • This is a great post. I enjoyed reading it and completely agree.
  • I completely agree with this. Everybody is different. I am hypoglycemic so I stick to mainly low carb (with an occasional cheat).
  • In term of weight loss, yes a calorie is a calorie. Eat less than you burn and you will lose. In terms of nutrition, no. A diet well balanced in healthy carbs, healthy fats and proteins will provide you the best nutrition for your body. Eating only Wendy's will not give you the nutrition you need. Having it once in awhile…
  • I was actually referring to your post - what you are doing works for you. As for the OP, I originally suggested (in a prior post) that she sits down and explains to him how this is important to her and they come up with a meal plan together that works for both of them.
  • People don't get divorced because of one meal. It is about way more than that. It is about wanting to do something nice for your significant other - even if it is more difficult for you! My husband works all day and I expect him to come home and fix his own food just because his needs are different? I do his laundry, pick…
  • Finally! A voice of reason! I was reading thru this thread and thinking "no wonder divorce rates are so high!" Apparently nobody wants to go out of their way to do anything nice for their spouse anymore. My husband is the same. He is 37 and eats whatever he wants and does not gain weight. Not only that, but still retains…
  • lol - I wish! In my house, it means more dishes!
  • MFP has me set for 1200. I workout 6 days a week with an average calorie burn (per MFP) of 400. Some days, I eat back all of my calories, particularly strength training days (that makes me hungry!). Some days I eat none. My guess is that I probably net a between 1000-1100 most days. I am ok with that - I eat when I am…
  • Exercise is the key to my sanity! As a SAHM it is the only break from my kiddos and I am way more patient and generally a nicer person when I workout.
  • I always log as I go throughout the day. This works for me because I can eat whatever I feel like eating in the moment. I always come in under calorie goal. Sometimes way under. If I am hungry, I eat more. If not, I don't. It works for me.
  • I think it just really depends on the person. I personally do not lose weight eating a lot of carbs, however, I have issues with low blood sugar. If I eat a bunch of carbs, too much insulin is produced and my blood sugar drops to very low and sometimes dangerous levels. This really destroys my body and I get inflammation…
  • I think you make a very good point. Some people see something and take it to the extreme. That goes with anything - there will always be those that just take it to the level of obsession. I am a so called "clean" eater. I eat clean about 90% of the time. I do have the occasional snack. Last night I wanted ice cream - so I…
  • I go to the gym 6 days a week. With small children, it is really hard to get in enough at home, though I do have a home gym. Plus, I enjoy the gym atmosphere. I can get through an entire class with enough motivation. The motivation is harder for me when I am by myself.
  • Try meetup.com to meet people in your area. As a SAHM this was a godsend for me!
  • The difference (for me) is that I can eat fruits that have a low glycemic index as they do not affect my insulin levels and cause dangerously low blood sugar and a subsequent craving for more sugar.
  • I don't know if you would call it an "addiction", but I definitely had an issue with sugar. I think it had more to do with insulin sensitivity. When I ate something with sugar, my blood sugar would jump up and then take a huge crash into dangerous levels. I would feel very sick and dizzy. My body then craved more sugar to…
  • I'm petite as well - 5'2" currently 125lbs (though my goal is about 115). I carry all of my weight in my hips and thighs and for me is the hardest part to tone up. I have found the best results with weight training. I do Les Mills BodyPump twice a week, but since that isn't really "heavy" lifting, I have also added 2 days…
  • I don't believe clean eating is a myth for everyone. I also don't think it is necessary for everyone. Everybody is different. I feel my best when I eat foods from nature and not processed foods. It isn't always about calories - you can lose weight eating processed food too. I feel so much more satisfied when I eat clean.…
