I'm currently 190, down from 220, and looking to get to 165, at which point I'll reassess.

Tracking into the red. But soon the persimmon pudding and eggnog will be gone and it'll be back to normal.

I'm eating at maintenance right now. Unfortunately, I'm eating at maintenance for someone 200 pounds more and 6" taller than me.
-
I have BOD and really liked 21 Day Fix to start out with. Different workout every day of the week and there's a modifier to follow for difficult moves. I did a couple rounds of it. P90 (without any X's) is considered good for beginners. TurboJam if you like choreographed dance. Youv2 for a gentle cardio dance. I'm about to…

I'm 5'8" at 190 and I have found that around 1800 is the minimum I can do without turning into Hangry Beast. My maintenance is around 2000, so I depend on getting some exercise most days in order to create enough of a deficit to lose reliably.
-
I pretty much created a deficit for myself by hitting 10k steps minimum every day during spring/summer/fall, but I don't seem to quite as eager to get outside right now, and am averaging more like 6-7k per day. Alas.
-
I've just started doing this exact same thing. I just set my calories to maintenance yesterday. I had been going over on them most days, and was starting to despair a bit, and then I realized that I'm in no big hurry and I'd be happy to maintain for a few weeks. So I'm now set to sedentary maintenance and any exercise I do…

I have BBOD and am doing my second round of 21 Day Fix. I like that each exercise is just for one minute ("You can do anything for 60 seconds!") and Autumn doesn't get on my nerves like some trainers. I plan to move on to Focus T25 and PiYo at some point.
-
Does it track your HR? I've found those can differ wildly in how many calories they give for "exercise."
-
I'm around the same place you are--30 pounds down, 25 to go, and time to get into fitness. I also do not want to go a gym. I was walking in the summer but the cold weather keeps me inside now. The thing I've started doing is the 21 Day Fix workout on Beachbody on Demand. Yes, I paid $100 for a year subscription, no I don't…

You might have lost the 2.4 pounds but the human body has many variables and you cannot scientifically calculate them all. Water, for instance.

I too hated the idea of logging. It just seemed so contrary to the idealized image I had of myself, laughing and eating salad and doing yoga because I enjoyed it. But when I decided I wanted to lose weight, I also decided that the MOST IMPORTANT aspect was keeping it off. So I did research. And tracking all food is a…

6:30am. I wake up at 6, give myself a half hour, and then I do it. Then it's done for the day.
-
That sounds awful. I like my way much better. Stay within my calories and voila!
-
I cook up several pounds of chicken breast at once, and then weigh it and portion it at 84 grams (3 oz) into ziploc snack bags. Then I freeze those. The entry I use has it at 138 calories for 3 oz.

For apps, I use MFP, Fitbit, C25k, Libra, Runkeeper, Beachbody on Demand, Simple Notes Calendar (to track all workouts), and Walk to Mordor cause it's fun. And Reddit /r/loseit.

Totally agree! I was going through my old "too small, but I'll fit in it again someday" clothes and they pretty much went from 16 to 12, with only a couple items that were 14. I seem to recall being close to 170 when the 12s fit though. I'm hoping for that paper towel effect as I get closer!

I'm also 5'8", currently at 191 and still in size 16. Of course, ALL my weight is in my gut. But 165 is my goal too.
-
You might look into strength training and recomping then instead.
-
2 lbs a week is very aggressive for your height and weight. You'll probably have better luck shooting for 1lb or even a half pound a week. What is your goal? You don't have much to lose.
-
Yes, or maybe just half of the exercise calories since it's very easy to overestimate calories burned. MFP is designed for you to eat your exercise calories back--you just need to make sure it's an accurate count as much as possible.

I'm trying to learn to love my treadmill and Beachbody videos, after a summer of walking outside. I hate cold weather.
-
Yes, I'm struggling. I bought a bag of it for the trick or treaters, and left it unopened. Then a houseguest suggested it should be opened. And now there aren't many of the tiny Twix left! On the bright side, I've realized I just need to go with the candy that doesn't really interest me. My usual daily good dark chocolate…

If you want this to be, as you said, long term, then I'd suggest not giving yourself a deadline at all. I have lost 28 pounds here since January. No, I didn't go all out on exercise, nor did I say no to all holiday dinners. I learned how to LIVE like this. Which is the only way to maintain the loss. You can't think of it…

@heybales Thanks! I will keep watching. I do love it otherwise; it's quite motivational.

12k=5 miles 10.4k=4.63 miles So, not a lot of difference. I'm thinking that the Ionic, since it's measuring my heart rate and my Alta didn't, is thinking I'm burning more calories than I am, because it will tell me I'm in "fat burning mode" when I'm sitting at my desk. It's certainly an incentive to get my heart rate a bit…

I just got a Fitbit Ionic and it's wonderful--except for one thing. It is greatly inflating the calories burned compared to my Alta. With the Alta, an average 10k-step day would give me about 350 extra calories. Yesterday I got 12k, and the Ionic gave me 690 more. I know the standard is only add half your exercise…

I've done a few days but gearing up to go full steam next week. Or as much steam as I can muster! The Total Cardio Body Fix had me sore for days last time. BUT, it wasn't terribly difficult to do. I'm seriously out of shape, so I need something that isn't going to try to kill me right of the bat. Ie, sustainable.
-
I have Beachbody on Demand and like it. So far I've only done Youv2 and 21 Day Fix, but the variety of options means I won't get bored.

DERP! I'm an idiot.
