Don't do upper body two days in row. Your muscles need to rest in order for them to grow.

That is why I didn't get a Polar, even though they are really good. I have a Garmin forerunner and you charge it. So easy!

I know you said you don't want to hear this but getting up 30 minutes earlier is an option. I workout every morning and go to bed early, knowing that I have to get up early. You can get a great workout in about 30 minutes. Examples are-Take a brisk walk/jog around the neighborhood, lift weights, do an exercise video (30…

Great job!! You're doing amazing! It only gets better from here! :)

I am not at maintenance level but pretty close. I try to stay about 40/40/20 but honestly, most days I go over on carbs. I eat healthy foods but I eat so much on workout days that it just goes over. I keep decreasing body fat so I don't see this as a problem as of yet. Like you said, it will just take time to see what…

I'm bored at work so I'm responding to all your posts. haha. I looked at your diary and I would definitely change a few things. I am in the process of weaning out all of the processed foods in my diet so I'm a little bit of a hypocrite since you will see some processed in my diet. I see a lot of processed foods in your…

I know I posted this on the other thread but, I understand your frustration. Read the 2 books I suggested and they should help you tremendously. The new rules of lifting for women book has a good nutrition section and the Eat clean recharged is a whole book about nutrition. The nutrition part is very important and I can't…

I requested you! A couple of resources that you might check out are some books that I found helpful. First is New rules of lifting for women (there is a nutrition section about cutting calories, which they don't recommend) and Eat clean recharged by Tosca Reno. I eat anywhere from 1750 cals to 2200 cals depending on how…

It basically has to do with weight, height, age, intensity of training, and gender. If you are more conditioned your heart rate won't be as high either. One of my friends burns 1000 calories in 60 minutes and I usually burn 500. It varies from person to person.

This is funny.......I think we are all married to this man. haha I love my husband dearly but the ONE thing that gets my blood boiling is when I'm hungry and he is the one that is supposed to grill the meat and he waits til 7:15pm to do it. I would like to eat at 6:30 or 7 and most times we don't eat until 8. I think I'm…

My suggestion is to take a week off and the slowly try to start running again. If it still hurts, then go to the doctor. I had pain in my shin from running and it was persistent and wouldn't heal. I went to the Dr. and it was a stress fracture. This can turn into a complete fracture. Listen to your body....it is trying to…

If you want an accurate amount of calories burned then yes, I would get one. The ones without a chest strap do not give an accurate reading so get one with a chest strap. Polar and Garmin are the best ones. Yes, they are expensive, but it is well worth it.

Hahahaha this is what I have been doing. It gets annoying when my friends keep me asking me "Why aren't you drinking?" or "drink with me!". I started filling my beer bottle with water and no one ever knows.

You can ask anyone...I mean any of my family or friends and they will tell you that I am NOT a morning person. Now saying that, I have become a morning person within the last year. I started working out in the morning because I was making too many excuses after work. I have a 45 minute drive home and my gym is within a…

I'm not an expert either but if you're doing a lot of cardio and just started strength training then thats the reason. Cardio doesn't necessarily build muscle but strength training does. I would try to add more strength training in your workouts and see if that helps. Also, strength training is VERY important to prevent…

It is probably right. I am always over what MFP says.....usually by 150 calories or more. MFP has no clue how hard you working during the alotted time. :)

The HRM's without the chest strap are not accurate.....at all. I suggest returning that one and get one with a chest strap.

I poke holes in mine and microwave it for about 13 minutes or so. This is for a medium sized one. I make spaghetti for my husband and I use the sauce and put it on the spaghetti squash. You can also put a little butter on it and some garlic salt and parmesan. So many things you can do with it. I haven't had pasta in…

I have gotten "you're not going to lose anymore weight are you?" I have lost 8 lbs.....only 8. I appear to be rather thin because of my height and yes, I'm thin, but my stomach and arm area are bigger then the rest of my body. If I lost another 8, it wouldn't make as big of a difference if I was half this size.

I am 5'11" and being tall has always been frustrating to me. Clothes, dating, etc. etc. I have embraced more as I have gotten older but the clothes thing is still a pain in the *kitten*!

I dislike that there are so many different articles on the internet about cardio. Some say no cardio, some say 30 minutes a day, etc. I do 45 minutes of cardio 5 days a week and strength training 3 days a week. The only problem I have with doing this much cardio is being hungry all the time. Sometimes I think I should cut…

I have a Garmin as well and it will probably be ok. It says on the instructions that the chest strap can be washed so I would think being in a pool would be fine. I would let it dry then try to use it and see if it works. If it doesn't work, you can order a new one off Amazon for about 20 bucks or so.

Couldn't agree more. If I switched to a low carb diet, I would be tired and miserable. For my carbs I stick to whole grains and veggies. Most days I have somewhere around 250g or so. It is all about calories, not carbs. Sure, cutting it back may help you for a little bit, but this is long term. You gonna eat low carb til…

Start lifting now and don't wait. I started lifting about 8 years ago and I learned by watching trainers at the gym. Take a look at New rules of lifting for women....I got it used for about $10 from Amazon. Also, check out bodybuilding.com. The only problem with this site is they don't give you a lot of variety. I get…

All of this has been confusing to me, thanks for posting. I can't keep my HR in the "fat burning zone", thats just not intense enough for me.

Unfortunately if you count carbs and not calories then you won't lose weight. If you eat 3000 calories of protein a day and zero carbs, then you won't lose weight. Its all about balance. Eating carbs is ok as long as they are balanced out with everything else. Good luck!
