alrighty, so I finished my 5 days of raw food only. I lost a total of 4 lbs, we'll have yet to see how much of that comes back... I'm guessing 2-3lbs, cause my normal weight loss rate is 1lb /week. I don't know if I'd do it again, but I can say now, eating cooked food again, it's easier for my to control my portion sizes,…

^ yeah that.

As I lost weight, I went through phases (and still do) of different types of "hunger". At first I wasn't super hungry ever, then went through weeks of being ravenous, spent some time in a weird phase where I was either stuffed or starving, went back to being always full... *shrug*. I think as we change our diet, and lose…

So I tried to make a raw soup type of thing for lunch today - tomatoes, basil, arugula, spinach, cucumber, onion, carrots, sweet potato... It was actually pretty good, but not cold as juice. I think it will be awesome as a bouillion type of vegetable base for making soup or making rice or something... and I kinda think…

As far as I can tell, the pulp that's removed is all insoluble fiber, so I wouldn't think it would alter the calorie count much. However, there are options for "juiced" for most veggies in the MFP database.

I love making a variety of different salads with frozen chicken! Mix it up with some greek yogurt, feta, fruit and nuts - makes a great chicken salad. See my blog for a bunch of different ones.

No worries! Yah, for sure, I cleaned out pretty good the first and second day, nothing since then! Remember this is only my 4th day, we'll see if I'm still down more tomorrow. I was pretty shocked at the 3.5 lbs I HAVE lost lol, not thinking it's small. :p (Specially cause I've been pretty consistently doing only a pound a…

agreed with everything everyone says. I find it hard to consistently portion blocks of cheese without a scale, so I try to go for the laughing cow, or proportioned stuff. But seriously, I use a little bit of cheese in MOST of my meals.

Haha, I haven't lost 5lbs, so I hope I don't gain that much back!!! :p I don't know about running tonight. I did half of yoga, and I'll do the other half later. We'll see. I still feel week and hungry :(.

Wow deadzip, huge difference in the front facing pictures! I got through kenpo yesterday, although not terribly well... Dunno if it's the raw diet or if it's a sleep schedule / lack of coffee thing, but I'm definitely feeling lethargic. Yoga today will catch me up with recovery week. Once again, I'm curious to see the…

Down another 1.5 lbs this morning, crazy! For those of you who've done short juice fasts before, how much do you gain back when you start eating 'normal' food again? I'm thinking of just adding back beans, nuts, dairy and whole / sprouted grains, and Doug at least another week completely clean, but I'm not sure about that…

There you go!

it's really hard to troubleshoot the phone thing over the internet... I'd take it into a <insert cell phone carrier, ie sprint, verizon, etc.> store. Assuming a recent version of android, here's something you can try. From the menu button on your home screen, select settings, then scroll through and select applications,…

Man, I've gotta say, the mint in this juice is truly fantastic! If you see a big bundle of mint at your local farm stand, in your garden, or at the grocery store, you've gotta try adding it to your juices! I don't think it's worth it if you use just the small amount grocery stores usually sell in those plastic…

I'm 22, 5'6", 152 with a goal of 120... feel free to add me!

I've definitely felt that way! It's like, to begin with, there wasn't anything that I wanted more than to look how I look now. Yes, I still want to lose more weight, but I still look great, I fit into size smalls, and people call me skinny and crazy, and ask why I bother caring what I eat. I think it's just a phase. I have…

This might be my favorite one yet! Fennel Root Mint ( a huge bunch) Cucumber Apple Aloe Vera Lemon Ginger This is served over ice, because we put enough aloe in to give it a little bit of a thick texture. But the taste is light, yummy, fresh and refreshing.

hmm... well that's a bummer! I guess I'll be more careful next time I eat coconut. I certainly am not going to freak out or starve myself for the rest of the day... it's just a good thing to be wary of!
-
So I bought a whole bunch of adventurous veggies: aloe vera, fennel, mint, bok choy, cactus fruit, along with the regular carrots, cucumber, apples and oranges. This should be an interesting experiment! amy

wow, those recipes look great! Makes me wish I had a food processor. I'm gonna be trying the spiced peach one, just as soon as I add back nuts, beans, etc. (For this first week it's ONLY fruits and vegetables for me)

There are many different perspectives on what is a "good" ratio of carbs to fat to sugar - Myfitnesspal defaults to a fairly generic percentage that suits most peoples needs. (it's like 50/30/20, or something, don't remember offhand) The main thing about MFP is, knowledge is power. If you conscientiously choose to eat a…

I've been feeling the same way! Decided to start my kick off by doing a purely raw food fruit/veggie week. I eat fruit for breakfast - mangoes, oranges, apples, peaches, etc. Lunch is juiced vegetables - trying new and interesting things and combinations... dandelion greens, baby bok choy, mint, fennel, beets, etc. dinner…

sounds great, *bump*ing for when I have an oven.

Depends on the type of protein, and it's absorption rate. Whey isolates, hydrolisates (sp?), concentrates, different types of soy, hemp, they all absorb at different rates. You can check out the info on the specific protein powder you are using. But I agree with the person above me, who sat eat something carb-ey before…

Syd Yoga actually helped me alot with that. I focus really hard on doing the pushups and the chaturanga stuff in Yoga with my elbows pinned, and since it's slow, and only one pushup at a time, it's easier. Doing that for as long as I could during yoga really improved my form in the rest of the videos.

I noticed the same thing Lifebloom - like adam the dancer is in the stretch DVD and Yoga... And that aerialist girl Dreya, well, she just kicks butt. But the people definitely have specific skills. I didn't make it through Yoga last night, got a phone call I had to take, which put me up way past bed time. I'll replace one…

It all depends on what you want to get out of it. A true juice fast removes the fibers from the vegetables from juicing, which supposedly has some benefits for your digestive system. Blending wouldn't really be any different form just eating the fruits and veggies raw, I think. If you're doing it to increase your uptake of…

it's pretty good. My juice is mostly carrot, some beet, and a little bit of orange. The texture is quite thick, but the citrus lightens it, and makes it palatable. It definitely tastes a little like dirt, so that's good to know about peeling the beets. On another note, I was a little over a lb down this morning, I guess…

I've done it a few times when it's really hot. I am definitely self conscious about being jiggly, but I know I'm out there fixin it!

Day 2... made: beets (greens included) carrots oranges
