Here's one part of this whole thing I don't get: Y'all keep saying that HR is only porportional to calories burned in the case of lower body steady state cardio -- so it would make sense that, take cycling for example, this means the calories are being predominantly absorbed by your quads, and other auxillary leg muscles.…

Interesting I thought neuromuscular adaptation was mainly a beginning thing. I'll read! But, the long and short of it is, I do want to gain bulk/size!! Haha. Also, it seems as though neuromuscular adaptation is very specific to the particular exercise being performed as opposed to increasing strength. Since I'm not trying…

Awesome! How does gaining strength without gaining additional muscle fiber -> thus bulk work though? Wouldn't I want to gain the additional muscle fiber? Leaning towards a lean-gains approach, as it's compatible with my schedule anyway. (ie, I'm usually under on ride days, I'd have to consume SO MUCH FOOD not to be-- so…

Thanks guys!! Basically anything not aimed really specifically at track sprint cycling doesn't apply. I fall exactly at the mean height-weight for the female track sprinters at Athens (when AIS did a study). As a specific example, Anna Meares, who won gold in London is two inches shorter than me, and weighs 5 lbs less.…

Don't get me wrong, I have a coach/nutritionist, and many mentors in my sport. I believe, however, that one thing that holds back women is their fear of eating enough to truly gain muscle. For reference the fastest sprint cyclist women in the country are basically as fast as marginally good men. So while the decision of…

I'm doing 5X8's at 75kgs right now. I think my 1RM is about 100kgs. I've been lifting since november(isn). however, I was a gymnast growing up, and I'm a fairly high level competitive cyclist now, so I have the leg strength base, just working on getting those explosive fast twitch muscles. pS, my goal is to squat 1.5x my BW

not particularly successfully :(... I thought this group was helping, but I still ended up eating a buttload of pie saturday.... Grrr!
-
Hey! You didn't finish the cake!! I consider that a major win!! Ugh, thanksgiving and christmas.... haven't quite decided how I feel about those yet...
-
blargh -- not sure if I should count yesterday as a binge or not... I did recover from the morning, ate a light lunch, burned off ~800 calories, all the morning's travesties... But then I ate another butt-load of chocolate when I got home... Going over by quite a bit, I'm pretty sure. Back on track this morning. I even…

disgruntled lol :)

memememememememe!!! That's exactly my goal. Amy

I have a mini confession -- I ate like 5 mini halloween chocolates this morning. I kept thinking, I'll record this, I'm not binging, I'll eat accordingly. I think I was a little out of control though. I'm going to make sure it doesn't ruin my day. I'll log it, make sure I get a really good workout in later, and I'll eat…

Just wanted to bump this thread, incase there were any new bingers that want to join our group! We count in # of days binge free on mondays. Amy

senior undergrad right now (/transition year to ms), but I'm currently applying for PhD programs in electrical engineering! Amy

I hear you! Weekends are my weak spot too. Especially since monday is such a nice clean day to "start over". We can defeat the weekend binge together!!!
-
Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that about how stressed you are! I totally feel you, recently I've been so down, all I've wanted was a beer and a whole bar of chocolate. Glad to hear you've avoided a binge for two months, that's awesome! You can do it! Although I'm trying to totally avoid sugar for a week or two, and see how it…

PS, Congrats on the weightloss, that's huge!!! I'm so jealous!!
-
Awesome!! I had a great week too, officially day 7 of no binges... Didn't lose anything :(, but made huge gains in the weight room, biked more than 300 miles, and never ate more than 2000 calories in a day. If I can keep that up there's *no way* I don't lose weight. Plus, all the guys I'm lifting with have gained like…
-
so not a binge!!! You totally regained control of your day!!! Way to go!!
-
How's the weekend going for everyone?? I think I can successfully say day 6 for me!!!
-
So I lift with the track cycling team... We do like 5 lifts, with 3 work sets each (5 reps) -- but it's at least 5 minutes rest between each work set, sometimes more. Supposed to *only* engage fast twitch muscles... no lactic acid at all!
-
thinking of you guys and having to post a tally *totally* helped me last night!! There was a whole freaking pile of cookies my roomate baked, and I had to stay up until 2am doing hw!! I only ate two though!!
-
ahhhh :( sorry to hear that!! You're good as of right now though, right?? Day 3 for me. Managed my nutrition between a 4hr ride, and 3 hrs of lifting fairly well today... at about 2k calories. We'll see how hungry I am tmrw, for how my body responds to that amount of food. My eat a little more once I look at protein and…

oh no!! Shake it off, and get back on track today!!! I don't know about you guys, but the day after a binge, I walk aroudn repeating to myself, "the first day is the hardest"... It seems to help. I'm curious, those of you that have already lost alot of weight, did you binge before the weightloss process? I don't think that…

My name is Amy too!! And yes! We can do this together!! I'm a university student, and *very serious* competitive cyclist... I'm sooo paranoid about losing weight for the race season, that I eat way to restrictively, then binge. I'm probably the only person in the world that eats only salads regularly, then binges, and…

Alright, everyone that posted so far, I tried to invite you to join the group! Sorry if I messed up a name or something, it totally wasn't on purpose!! Group is here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/9140-no-more-binges-2012-challenge Feel free to add me as a friend!!

A binge for me would be losing mental control of trying moderate what I eat. So a period of time, usually an afternoon, of which I pretty much eat everything I can fit in my stomach... because "I'm allowed". Definitely more along the 4k calorie variety.
-
Yes!!! Thanks so much everyone! We can do this together. I'm not sure what happens... some days, it's like one thing leads to another, and suddenly I can hardly sleep my stomach is so full... I'm probably going to post pretty much daily to try to keep up with this, so you all will probably get sick of hearing from me. Amy

Nobody?? I can't be the only one that struggles with this... :(
