I'm in a long distance relationship (GA -> CA). We "train" together in runkeeper and have talked about doing a race together during one of our visits. I think it would be great. :)

Go to races? You mean as a spectaotor or runner?

What are toxins, by the way? And what is going to stop you for re-intoxicating your body after your done detoxing it? These are some of the questions I wish I would have asked myself a few years ago but i really think I just wanted a miracle diet. I would focus on cutting the bad stuff out of your diet completely and for…

Aasics. I will never wear anything else. I've tried but I always go back. You can find good deals on many websites and Big5/sports authority on their lower echelon models. Edit: Actually, I love my new pair so much I made them my profile picture. ;)

I'm not a smoker but... my dad is. He finds that exercise helps because it makes him realize how much better he feels and it is good motivation not to go back. Best of luck to you!

I'm also 5'10"/5'11". My starting weight was 180. My goal weight is 135 but right now, at 147, I am really happy with my size. For now I am just focusing on health/fitness goals and hoping the weight just comes down with them. GOALS: cure PCOS and acne with a clean diet run a half marathon in 2hrs do 10 *good* pushups!!!…

A quote I heard once about fruit: "God packaged the antidote with the poison." The poison is sugar, the antidote is fiber. It is the white processed stuff that you want to avoid.

Have you ever heard of banana island? http://www.30bananasaday.com/ I think it seems really interesting.

I have never tried Chia, but I want to! I saved this recipe awhile ago. It looks like it would make a great breakfast. http://www.coconutandquinoa.com/2012/01/13/vanilla-chia-pudding-with-berries-and-a-chocolate-version/

Calories in Chia: 93 Calories in Water: 0 Total Calories: 93 The only thing that should change the caloric content is adding fat, carbohydrates or protein. Since water isn't any of those, it is safe to say the calories remain the same.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've just started though. My finals ended last week so I'm hoping to jump start my training for my first half marathon in July! So I'll just say *bump*, for now. Good luck!

I am aware of acne fixes like acutane, birth control, etc. and I think it is great that they help so many people. When I am desperate I often consider harsh medications, expensive topical remedies or acid peels to mask the underlying problems but I really want to cure the internal problem and hope to do so with diet alone.…

Thank you for your information Dr.! It is extremely valuable. For now, I have decided to cut out dairy immediately from my diet and I plan on reducing/removing all added sugar soon. I will see how this goes and then consider cutting out gluten too. I have also started up a vitamin regimen. I have a lot of supplements that…

So I went for a long run yesterday (~ 1 hr) and for some reason after the first half I didn't hear any correspondence from the radio but I continued to collect supplies. Then, when I got back to base and turned the mission off I don't have a green check next to the mission name (number 5). Instead there is just a red…

There are two modes: Zombie chases (1) On (2) Off. With zombie chases there are random hordes of zombies that many come out of nowhere to get you. If you don't increase your speed by 20% then they will catch up to you and you will have to sacrifice some of the supplies you collected to get away. So no, you don't die. :D

Not to be a Debby Downer, but I don't believe that PCOS is 100% curable with weight loss alone. For instance, if a PCOS sufferer lost all of their weight by eating a highly processed diet with lots of refined sugars and carbohydrates and no exercise, I doubt they would be much better off. I do agree that getting out of the…

I have PCOS. I also posted a topic a few days ago about my issues with diet, exercise and acne and a lot of women with PCOS gave some good insight: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/586170-diet-exercise-and-acne Where to begin... My two biggest pieces of advice are: (1) Stay away from refined sugars and…

I like to use target heart rates with my HRM. Example: Fat burning zone is 60-70% MHR = max heart rate RHR = resting heart rate Minimum Target HR = 0.60 x (MHR - RHR) + RHR Maximum Target HR = 0.70 x (MHR - RHR) + RHR I like working out in this zone because I can maintain it for 60 minutes or so without exhausting myself.…

Beans! I"ll often make a big bean salad and snack on that all week. I usually mix three cans of various beans, add salt, olive oil, paprika and cumin to taste. I also eat high fiber bread, cereal and lots of fruit and berries. Quinoa and brown rice are also a good sources of fiber. With all of this I rarely have trouble…

May 1- 3.9 mi. run May 4- 1.75 mi. swim I think swimming deserves some kind of multiplier! Haha.

If you are not already, I suggest immediately rinsing if not washing your skin after a workout. I often use some natural tea tree oil cleansing pads (Desert Essence brand) when I workout at the gym so I do not have to wait until i get home to clean my face. I agree with what Eleisabelle said. It seems like exercise is a…

I haven't ran much this week, just did some yoga and swimming. I have been missing my zoms. :(

Awesome article. I like a lot of what Dr. Hyman has to say. I look forward to your blog post too!

Wow, so many great answers. Thank you all for your input! I'm thinking about doing some sort of elimination diet. First cut out everything suspicious (dairy, gluten, excess sugars, processed foods etc.) and seeing how I do and then slowly incorporate (the healthy) things back in to see if I have any obvious reactions to…
