Fat acceptance is a pretty large movement that can easily be vilified-- as proven by many of the commenters here. It is pretty stupid to try an compare it to the "pro-anorexia" movement though. They are two different things, and any comparison you can draw won't benefit either cause. There are plenty of Fat Acceptance…

Want to trade wardrobes?!?! No really though, thanks for the advice. You look great!

Also, I don't think it is a coincidence that 2 separate people have told me that I look "taller" since starting starting the program. I think it is because my posture has improved a lot which also does wonders for how my clothes look etc.

For the first week or two I didn't add any extra cardio because I was really sore. Since then I do about 30 minutes of cardio after each workout. Stage 2 includes some cardio and the workouts are longer, so I might not do as much then. I prefer doing the cardio on the same day to save time. On my off days, I am exhausted,…

I read that as "everything is tightening up even though I have blueberry muffins in my belly"!!!! I was about ti get really jealous of your muffin diet... Hahaha. I'm about 4 weeks in and just started noticing a difference in my biceps, shoulders, arms butt and legs and they're all quite positive. I have a couple more…

I am 145 and happy with my weight. I do want to tone up a bit and lose fat though so I started lifting more (NROL4W). If that means staying the same weight, or losing 10 pounds, it's all fine with me. It's really mostly about fitness and and health for me at this point... And a little bit about having a nicer *kitten*,…

I'm most excited to try the protein pancakes, the protein smoothie with oats, banana and peanut butter (yum!), and the tuna salad with avocado, cucumber etc. etc. I've been eating 0% fat greek yogurt with cashews, protein powder and raisins and it is really really good.

I regularly get above 210. The highest I have ever seen in 218. The rule 220 minus your age is merely a suggestion. Your weight doesn't really have anything to do with it but as you get in better shape your heart rate will be lower when you do equal amounts of work. Your resting heartrate will also go down as your heart…

Hello Everyone, Tonight I am going to do workout 6a and things have been going so-so. I just started incorporating cardio. I do 3 miles of incline walking and jogging on the treadmill after each lifting session and it is working out pretty well. The first 3 weeks I didn't do any cardio and it doesn't seem like it is doing…

I have had Mirena for 1 1/2 years and love it. I've been on Yaz, Ortho & Nuvaring and Mirena has by far been the best although I lost the majority of my weight while on Yaz. I weighed 150 when I got it inserted and I weight 145 now which is a healthy weight for me (I'm 5'10"). I have plenty of friends with it too and none…

My gym has a little 5lb weight that I can put on top of the stack, does yours? I think you want to aim for a full range of motion to get the most benefit out of the exercise. I pull the bar down to about my collarbone.. maybe a little further down. ETA: If 62.5 is too easy, sometimes doing the exercise in a slower and more…

bump... I've taken acidophilus for awhile and I can't tell how much they help me. I am mostly looking for digestive benefits. I've also taken Good Belly shots, which I like. I once found a comparison chart of a bunch of probiotic supplements and their benefits but I can't find it. This WebMD article is slightly helpful…

Technically not all protein is equal. Whey protein is supposed to be better absorbed by the body then other sources, especially vegetable sources, but honestly, I can't be bothered to think that much about it but some people might be. I really struggle to get a lot of protein in my diet because I love carbs and have a…

My name is Shawna. I am 24 and a phd student/research assistant. I started NROL4W a few years ago and stopped in the middle of stage 1 because I got distracted. Since then I have mostly focused on running and I ran my first half-marathon in March. It went well, but now I am looking for a more well-rounded training schedule…

If you have some kind of bar, like on a smith machine, you could do australian pull-ups. The higher the bar, the easier. I like them a little better than the row becuase I think it uses more abs. I also use the bar for my inclined pushups.

Update, again: I finally went to an endocrinologist after being officially diagnosed with PCOS. While my hormone levels are "normal" they are slightly elevated and I was prescribed 100mg spironolactone (an anti-androgen that many of the first commentators on this post recommended!) to help with my skin. My Dr. also advised…

I'm taking spironolactone and I have had minimal side effects. I think its actually caused me to lose weight quicker because its a diuretic so I don't hold on to as much water weight. Best of luck!

I was an athlete too. In a lot of ways it tought me bad eating habits because I never learned to eat like a normal person. I really believe that diet is 75% of the battle. Now that I've lost weight (I'm not quite at my goal) I enjoy exercising way more!

I have been battling acne for 10 years or so. I am now 23 and believe my acne is primarily hormonal. I have experimented with all kinds of topical remedies containing everything from salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, sulfur compounds, ceramides... everything. Sometimes, like with BP, I got good results but I could tell…

This is something I was just thinking about.. .in general I sort of ignore my sugar count because it doesn't separate the natural sugars from the more harmful ones, like high fructose corn syrup. I once heard about a system in which you sort of calculate your allowable *natural* sugar, like the the fructose found in…

Oh yes! and there is this awesome article from Wired Magazine that my boyfriend actually sent me.... It kind of explains why IUDs got a bad rep. http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/07/ff_iud/

I got the Mirena IUD last November. I feel like I have had it long enough to say that I LOVE IT. There was an adjustment period of about 3 months where I was spotting but since then everything has been in the clear. Since November I have not made any significant attempts to lose weight and nothing has managed to come back…

I have an abnormally high heart rate and the highest I have ever seen on my HRM is about 225. 290 is impossible unless you're have heart twitches or fluttering, in which you would definitely notice something was wrong. I would recommend a heart rate monitor if you want to accurately record your heart rate.

I probably do. How many steps do you take to walk a mile? Maybe 3-4000? So I'd you walk 3 miles you should get close.

I am 5'10 SW 175 CW 146 GW 135 I am ok with my weight. I've been hovering for the last year or so. I really love the way I feel when I am fit though, which is why I'm focusing more on these goals and am hoping the weight just comes off as I reach them. Short term Run 100 miles in June! Long term 6 minute mile time Complete…

Thanks, I really appreciate your input. For the past few months I have been doing nothing but long easy miles. Then, last week I did a mile test in 6:54, which blew my mind. Now I'm super motivated to get faster. My best time in high school was around 9 minutes. Haha, but I think you're right. Maybe I'll cut intervals down…

Keep working on it. Do 10 sets of 5 seconds. When you can do that easily start increasing the time / number of sets. You'll get there. When I first started doing planks I could barely hold 20 seconds. Within a short amount of time I was up to a minutes and now I'm at about 90 seconds. I noticed that the improvement was…

What are your running goals? Is there a specific race you're training for? Are you just trying to lose body fat? If you frame your question a little more you may get better responses. I know a lot of weight lifters do high intensity interval training (HIIT), so maybe you should look into that. They are usually short…

On this note... When I started taking an omega-3 supplement I saw huge improvements. Maybe your fat intake is too low? If so, try and get more healthy fats.

First of all, stop with the laxatives. You can become dependent on them. Second, contact your doctor if you are feeling particularly uncomfortable or if it has been a few days. Some tips that have helped me are: [1] running and prolonged physical activity does the trick for me. [2] My friend's doctor told her to drink a…
