I have heard the insulin thing too... does anyone know more about that?

I like my coffee. I feel like it does boost my metabolism. For some this will make them eat more. I drink about 1 cup per day and I drink it really slowly. Maybe that makes a difference? I also do not add sugar or cream so there are no hidden calories.

Also, in terms of exercise duration, it is really up to you, your long term goals and your current ability. People who have a lot of weight to lose can easily lose weight without incorporating exercise. Now that I am getting close to my goal, I really need the exercise to keep my metabolism up. Personally, I just like the…

In no particular order, these are my favorites: Squats Lunges Squat Jumps (great for a cardio boost!) Push ups Body holds (a.k.a plank position) Step ups Leg lifts Burpees (also great for cardio) Yoga (lots of online videos. check out Tara Stiles on youtube) If you are up to a challenge you can try one of these programs:…

Very helpful. Love the stairs idea! I do expect Winnipeg should have some nice weather. I am lucky ill be skipping out on some of Atlanta's worst!

Montreal, I wish! I'll be in the outskirts of Winnipeg. It seems a little rural but is not too far from the city center... maybe a 20 minute drive.

I am not am idiot. :( No, I won't have my iPhone with me and will be doing field work rather then my usual desk job (definitely looking forward to being less sedentary!). As for running, I really hope I will be able to find time and nice routes. I have been looking into it. I guess I am just accepting that the weights are…

Hey! I'm 23, 5'10" and 146 lbs. I want to get down to 135 but I am focusing on fitness and measurement goals. I want to run a half marathon and the do the new rules of lifting for women program in the fall. I just love how I feel when I am fit. I crave runner's highs and toned arms and legs.

I got Mirena in December. No problems here. I love it

I think I just cured my workout headaches: Iron supplements. Do you eat meat/dark leafy greens? Drinking water is good too and keeping your electrolytes up. If the pain was severe, consider consulting you doctor.

I just posted a thread about hip measurements last week! Haha, yeah, my widest part moved down a lot too. It is difficult to gauge. I
-
Do you have a hip reduction goal? Aim for half of that. (e.g. I want to lose 2 inches from my hips so I am aiming to lose 1 inch from my thighs). 1 inch is a lot! Wrap the tape measure around your thigh an add one inch to your measuremt. It adds a lot more then you might think. In my experience, thigh measurements change a…

You look fantastic! I love your dress and hair color!

I am in a long distance relationship now. (Georgia - California). We were together for 1 year and then I moved about 9 months ago. We rarely left each other's side the entire year we were together so the initial adjustment was really tough. I have to say, my boyfriend is incredibly sweet and supportive. I barely deserve…

About being on a restricted diet: Eat something. Be responsible but let yourself have a treat now and again. An apple with some peanut butter, a couple of squares of quality chocolate or a fancy smoothie generally do the trick for me. About body image: Find some things that you like about yourself and radiate your essence.…

I do not like seeing grown men wearing logos (I.e advertisements, sports team gear, brand names). This might be ok in some situations like lounging around the house, camping or exercising but not in every day scenarios. As for specific brands, my boyfriend has managed to find some really good deals on men's clothes from…

Thank you everyone. I agree with what you are all saying, more or less.

I did. Is this confusing enough for you??? versus

Is it really just because of the temperature? I have noticed that too, but it doesn't make much sense to me. Do you have any more information about that?

The truth is, he probably just thinks you are nagging and you may be doing more harm than good. The best you can do is lead by example, be encouraging and not push too hard. No one will become healthy until they decide to do it for themselves. A few years ago I pushed my brother to run with me one morning. At the time he…

I was a competitive swimmer for years so I feel like running kicks my butt a little more. Therefore, I think running is a bit more effective for weight loss. On the other hand, swimming is low impact so you are much less likely to injure yourself. Personally, I like to mix things up because I get bored easily. So if you…

Update: It has been nine days since I posted the original post and I am starting to clear up a bit. When I first wrote this post I had about 10 cysts on my chin, cheeks, jaw line. All of the red marks are still there but the inflammation is completely gone. It is too soon to tell any of the changes I made have contributed…

I am going with the gentle cleanser approach too. I just bought CeraVe so we will see how that goes! I was using Desert Essence tea tree oil face wash but my skin was getting really dry. Anyways.. I wont go to far into it, I can talk about products all day and that isn't really what I was aiming for in this thread... My…

I have PCOS and these are some rules that I have come up for myself: I have a general rule that I like to follow with all labeled fruits (non-frutis and vegetables) Protein + Fiber >> Sugar I have recently cut out as much added sugar as I can and I do not eat any bleached flour products. Also exercise! Even a few small…

Just eat clean. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, brown rice, fish, etc. Drink lots of water. Do not resort to such desperate measures. You say, "oh, I just want to detox" but really, you just want a miracle. Hard work really does pay off.

Yes, starve yourself and you will lose weight. I did the MC. I lost about 10 pounds but my digestion has never quite recovered. It isn't worth it.

(Jealous) I left my bf for grad school and I'm constantly wishing I could go back. I say, do it. I also think you shouldn't live together if you can avoid it.
-
I didn't say I was trying to cut carbs but if I do cut out gluten/wheat I am pretty sure that would be an indirect consequence. Why do you care so much if someone wants to experiment with diet sensitivities?
-
I plan to test out gluten free soon. There are multiple reasons why someone might want to and these are the ones I am aware of: - celiac disease - chrone's disease - gluten sensitivity/allergy - wheat allergy - reducings carbohydrates
