  • oh ya first thing I bought was a digital kitchen scale .... I think my measurements are pretty accurate. 204 to 180 lbs I averaged 1 to 1.5 lb a week. 180 to 172 I averaged 0.8 a week approx. But its the slowdown in progress and back slip in the last two weeks has me trying to figure out what to adjust to get back on track.
  • oops had it set to friends it open now.
  • That's true.... I think it would be hard to find may people who are not to some degree mixed. I'm not mixed in the way referred to here( my ancestry is northern European English / Irish) but I am married to Jamaican born Canadian woman and we have two kids.
  • Dido for walking at lunch and I carry a pedometer to track my steps. Tried the gym thing a number of times but Ive realized, I'm just not gym rat ,so I look for exercise opportunities that better fit me. That has worked much better for me. We're all different so the key is finding what works for us.
  • Hey there, were just south of Ottawa.
  • Can you expand on the sort of support your hoping for. Sounds like you didn't find before what you where hopping for so it might helpfull to tell us more specifically what kinds of support your hoping for.

  • Its challenging we're in Ottawa and in the 98 ice storm we were without power for 14 days, with a pregnant wife a 2 year old and basement that floods if the sump pump is off for24 hours not fun.... Hope you wont be affected.
  • Whenever you hit a setback have failure feel like giving up you got to just: Keep moving forward..... I love this quite from Walt Disney. “Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us…
  • Oh ya I can relate to what your saying. I started at 205 lbs and just hit 174.8 lbs (5' 5" guy) but I to have hard time seeing it in the mirror. My wife says she sees it and My clothes are for sure a lot looser but seeing it in the mirror is still challenging. For me I take solace in the small weekly changes on the scale…
  • For a scale we just bought a basic digital kitchen scale at Wallmart for about $20. I dont have an HRM I would say you first need to figure out want you need it to do. Then google heart rate monitor reviews to see what will do what you want in your price range. I did buy a pedometer to track my daily activity so I can add…
  • You know both my wife and I were both pleasantly surprised at how easy to follow and effective mfp has been! Your doing great. Your progresses seems on track with mine. 30 down and I stared in Sept. 5 months as well. Keep up the good work.
  • For anything OSA/ CPAP/ sleep study related this is a great forum....http://www.apneasupport.org/ I just saw this post and I've been on CPAP for about 4 years now.
  • Just a thought ....You've had some good progress so far so have you revisited your profile? As we loose weight our BRM drops so we need to periodically update our profile and MFP will adjust the daily calorie target to reflect that as we loose weight our BMR falls as well.
  • Are you always weighing yourself at the same time of the day. That makes a difference. As others mentioned for women your menstrual cycle can case weight fluctuation as well. Beyond that I like to look at your weight over 2-3 weeks just to average out some of normal short term fluctuations. I do think us guys have it…

  • Seems to me its people noticing you and feeling like your a pretty girl. Your becoming a more attractive person people will respond to that. Its more about your own perception and maybe some discomfort with being perceived as being attractive than the other people. Sure an unwelcome advance might be uncomfortable and out…
  • Best of luck. This is a pretty good plan especially when you have support at home as well. I'm a 51 year old dad and I've been doing this since September. One of my motivators was my annual showing my blood sugar in the high normal; range. Not in the diabetic range yet but it was a motivator for me, so I hear what your…
  • There are a couple of features that do what you want: 1) You can create meals which you can latter add to your diary 2) You can add recipes. This is nice because it calculates the persevering calories for you. Ether can be latter added as a single entry in your diary. Send me a msg if you still have any questions. Cheers…

  • Fist off whatever you try it has to be something you can do forever. this 5:2 thing is so not that. 500 calories you be will be lucky to not collapse. Start with a small and manageable plan even a 1/2 lbs a week target and give yourself time to reach your goal. The change will be much easier to actually achieve. And by the…
  • Hey there feel free to add me if you like. Ive been doing this since Sept and am having good success.
  • I set my profile to sedentary then track and add my activity to adjust my daily calorie count to reflect it. Doing that I'm loosing about what I should be.
  • I count fruit and its surprising just how many calories it has. If you didn't count it you would need to over count other foods to compensate. I'm not sure how WW factors it in.
  • Hey there I'm 51. As someone pointed out the ladies have it bit harder because they tend to have a lower BMR. And ya BMR drops with age too.
