Running some numbers I get closer to 1,870 if you're exercising 3 times a week and you're actually going closer to 1,300 that's about 30% lower than recommended even while losing 2 pounds a week. I didn't have any runs planned but I must credit your creation of this thread to motivate me to get back out and enjoy some runs again. A friend and I decided to tackle a modest paced 2miles and it turned out better than expected for not having run in probably 5 months.

Typically that's considered the best way to do it. It will also normally be your lowest weight each day which is encouraging.

Like many others here I'd agree completely doable. Had great success with C25K then progressed to a 10K and eventually a half marathon all in about 9 months. The plans are great for minimizing injury and giving you confidence that you're constantly progressing.

Lately I've been doing short 400m-800m runs between sets of weights and exercises like pull-ups, dips, etc... It's just enough to elevate heart rate to about 90% then do most lifting around the 80% range. The runs probably total 10-15 depending on distance and number of sets.
