  • A lady I work with has become very thin in the last two years. She runs and watches her portions but she doesn't count calories.
  • If you get in your 3-5 servings of fruits and vegetables and your 2 servings of dairy every day, you should be able to hit 1200 with no problem whatsoever. Most of us who gained weight, did so by eating too many carbs or choosing high fat foods. When you switch to a healthy diet, it's hard to reach your calorie goal unless…
  • For real, though. I mean, I ain't a lady, but do you know how hard it is to try and blame farts on invisible people when you're in a bowling league and one slips out when you throw your ball? I end up walkin' around the alley, crop-dustin' them bad boys around to different spots of the house. [/quote] Ok that's too funny!…
  • You could take a break from it. When I felt like things were slowing down and I was losing motivation, I went on maintenance for a couple of weeks. You don't want to gain any back because you've worked so hard, but sometimes our bodies need a little change before we can lose any more.
  • I bought a fat percentage tester to use at home. I do all of the above except for the doctor part.
  • Mine was when my son's friend called him on the phone to tell him there was a "Hot Lady" in front of his house. I'm 44 years old and this kid is 18. My son was horrified and sickened by the whole incident, but it made me realize just how far I've come.
  • Plan the food for your day in the morning before you eat anything. Balance them throughout the day so you're not trying to play catch up before bed. It takes some getting used to but it's worth it. I try to get within 100 calories of my goal. That works for me.
  • I got rid of my big clothes. Keep an old picture of yourself to motivate you. Getting rid of my old clothes keeps me from letting myself gain. If the new pants get tight, I have to work harder.
  • The working out really helps. Before my mom was sick, I weighed 119 and fit in a size 8. I was little but not fit. After getting down to 130 with MFP, I was a size 6. I thought 8 was my goal size, but now I'm shooting for a 4.
  • My hunger is always greater at that time. I had a hysterectomy but still have my ovaries so I get PMS cravings every now and then. I try to find healthy alternatives to what I'm craving. I'll eat a yummy yogurt, have a hot chocolate, eat popcorn, etc. I also have to drink a lot of water because I tend to eat more sodium…
  • Great motivation to stick with it. You've done a fabulous job!
  • Your hair will grow out. Stop using damaging products on it and put it up until you can cut off the damaged part. Let it go back to your normal color. You are beautiful with the hair God gave you. Rest your muscles until they are better and start slowly. For now only do some walking and some gentle stretching. Do not think…
  • Do you have some old pants that you can't fit into? I know it sounds simple but I pulled out some old pants that I couldn't even get over my thighs. I kept them out and tried to get them on every couple of weeks or so. When I fit into those, I found myself motivated to get down to the next size. I also threw out all of my…
  • Yeah we lose from different places at different rates. When I started weight training, I really saw the inches come off. Just stick with it, it will eventually come off from where you want it to. Another thing to consider is that once you stop losing weight, your fat will redistribute. I was very small on top and very big…
  • It can be embarrassing working out in public. At first, I really had trouble taking Zumba class with these really young and small girls. You get over it though. Just do it and try not to worry what other people think. You're doing something good for yourself.
  • I need to quit so bad. I've lost weight and I'm in good shape but I'm still a slave to the smokes. I don't know whether to try some sort of nicotine replacement or just quit cold turkey. I'm a teacher and can't be all grumpy with my kiddos so I have to find a way to quit without taking it out on them.
  • Everyone likes different things. The important thing is to find something you enjoy and do it 3-5 times per week. I love Zumba, Power Pump, and Boot Camp. Well I love the Zumba anyway. I just love what the other two do for my shape. :)
  • No, don't deny yourself what you want. You just have to learn to balance your diet and work these things in. I had a Nutrageous bar on Valentine's day. I don't eat chocolate every day though. I think that would be bad for my willpower.
  • I did the Adkins thing a few years ago. I lost about 10 pounds at first, then when I started to increase my carbs (according to the plan guidelines), it came right back. I was also constipated, bloated, and miserable. I'll never do the low carb thing again.
  • Ugh. Sorry about that. One insult my hubby gave me was back when I wouldn't share my weight with him and he was talking about some "fat woman" at work. He guessed her weight at a weight that was really close to mine at the time. I was completely insulted but couldn't even tell him because I didn't want him to know what my…
  • I usually eat after the workout unless I'm planning to do something pretty strenuous. If I'm going to run, I'll eat a little protein before and a meal after. The reason I try to eat after is I'm often hungry after a workout.
  • You are an inspiration. Thank you for posting these. People need to know that it can be done. Great work!
  • It's not just counting calories that matters. You have to make sure that the calories you're taking in actually have some nutritional value to them. 1200 calories in alcohol, chips, and candy isn't going to lead to very healthy weight loss. I was never much of a drinker to begin with but I gave up alcohol completely when I…
  • That's great. Make sure you're eating enough. 7 pounds in the beginning is great but you want to lose at a rate of 1-2 pounds a week after that.
  • You look great!
  • My hubby loves me no matter my size. He think I'm sexier now though because I feel more confident in myself and I put a little more effort into dressing and looking nice.
  • I don't know whether it's a myth or not. I can tell you that I've eaten more on this plan than any other I've tried and my metabolism is way more efficient than it was 5 years ago. Lots of people on here have lost lots of weight by following the recommended calorie allowance. What I'd like to know is how many people lost…
  • Set your goals here to maintenance. It will tell you how much to eat.
