  • raw veggies with hummus are great... and I know the feeling about eating out. I have to bring lunches or I decide to go for the burger, or the sandwich and salad bar that quickly spirals out of control. I'm going to start stashing lean cuisine's at work for emergencies. Some of the vegetable mixes are really good... and…
  • That's precisely my view of it. I want this to be forever, so I'm doing now what I want to continue. I don't want to work out 3 hours a day forever, or deprive myself of chocolate and the occasional slice of pizza or doughnut. Slow, steady and sensible will get me to where I'm going, in a way I can enjoy life and not be…
  • I still have about 80 lbs to go, i'll add you as well. Cheers and let's get this done!! :)
  • For myself, I like to be able to hide tattoos if i want. A small wrist one could be covered by a watch or wider bracelet if needed (depending on size). and if it's not offensive, and means something to you, then I don't think it should be too much of a problem. Culture is becoming more accepting of tattoos, but I think…
  • between 1 and 2- totally bare would freak me out. But taming the wild with some trimming is good.
  • mine don't like each other, so it's rather an effort to get cleavage. And I have the shrinking problem too :P
  • In the same boat.. i broke down and had a third of a skor bar earlier... but i just want to eat... lots. I did get out and get some exercise for some more, but still hungry. trying to foil it with water and crystal light til i go to sleep though. Tomorrow I'll probably have some yogurt and throw some cocoa in it to try and…
  • I have a heart rate monitor and it gave me a very similar reading to the circuit training listing. It is going to depend on your effort level, though.
  • I spray a small tupperware or bowl with an oil mister, then add an egg, salt free seasoning, fresh ground pepper and a bit of salt, beat it up, microwave it for 40-45 seconds. I get a little egg patty that i melt about a tablespoon of light shredded Tex-Mex cheese on and put it on a toasted english muffin with a bit of…
  • How to stay motivated? I try to think about why I started this in the first place. Not necessarily the "oh, i should do this to be healthier", though that is important. But focus more on the 'wants' than the 'shoulds'. Yes, I SHOULD be doing this to be healthier, but i WANT to do this so I can fit in that dress and knock…
  • Curry chicken salad and a bunch of raw veggies. Or else a baked chicken breast and spaghetti squash with pasta sauce and a sprinkle of parmesan- Haven't quite decided yet.
  • I train karate, and I have the same issue! My gi has been getting looser in the thighs, but silly tummy's still in the way. We don't have classes in the summer, but I'm working out with other things to lose some more inches and be able to get my head height roundhouse kick back- it's currently sitting about shoulder level.…
  • i just started the couch to 5 Km program (c25k). I hate running (except for the stopping running part, that feels awesome) but I'm hoping this will help me like it more, as running doesn't require gym membership, and can be done pretty much anytime. The program is at coolrunning.com, or you can Google 'couch to 5k'. I…
  • nuts, avocado, peanut butter, in moderation, because they also have some fat, albeit good fat. I've also heard suggestions of adding some olive oil to various dishes. If i'm way low on calories for the day I'll have some raw almonds, though I have to admit it doesn't happen very often. :P

  • I love just a splash or two of straight balsamic vinegar or fresh squeezed lemon juice, with some fresh ground black pepper and sea salt. But my salads tend to be pretty 'chunky'- sliced red pepper, coarsely chopped cucumber, tomato wedges, carrot chunks, sliced mushroom, celery, and fine chopped green onion- so they have…
  • Breaking a plateau is a great feeling!! I got stalled for about a month, til I changed my activity level and started mixing up my exercise. Then the numbers started moving again! Such a great feeling! They're still going, but now I willhave some ideas if my progress stalls again. Keep it up!! Cheers!
  • I find Aleve (naproxen) gives me horrible stomach pain. Tylenol doesn't touch any headaches or pain I have, so I stick with ibuprofen or aspirin.
  • 5'4, and just passed 234, sitting about 226 now. Aiming for 140, but will re-evaluate when that's a lot closer. Good luck, and feel free to add me if you'd like! We can do this!
  • Yes, if i don't eat fairly regularly, particularly when i'm watching calories, I get nauseous, headache, and then dizzy. I find if i eat more often, that helps. Are you drinking enough water? I have had the "almost passing out" (plus sweats and chills) when i worked out in the heat, with nothing to drink. That's all I can…
  • I have seen flavoured stevia drops, which would sweeten and flavour, but no creaminess. I haven't tried them, but may pick some up the next time i'm at the health food store. Has anyone tried them?

  • I've been doing the shred (albeit intermittently at times) and have some observations- they may not all apply to you. - I had been on a plateau for about a month. I changed my setting from lightly active to sedentary and started the shred, and scale started moving down again. -I'm using 3lb weights too, for the same…
  • mine disappeared for 4 months when I started here. I am on the pill, and wasn't pregnant, and my body fat was definitely not too low. I think it was just the shock to my system from changing my eating and exercise habits. It did eventually come back- to be greeted with mixed emotions.
  • i too have wondered... I did consider whether wrestling would be similar. But i haven't logged it either.
  • Oh, I also do a squash soup.. roast a kabocha squash, and bake a chicken breast with a curry rub/seasoning. Dice up half an onion, some garlic, saute that in a bit of oil or chicken broth. Add the cooked squash, either cut up or scooped out. Add some chicken broth, dice up the chicken and toss that in, heat to boiling and…
  • Hearty Nine Bean Soup (4-6 servings) (From Golden Boy Nine Bean soup mix - just dried beans, nothing else) -2 tbsp vegetable or olive oil -1 coarsely chopped onion -1 clove garlic, finely minced -1/2 cup sliced celery -1 cup nine bean soup mix -4 cups chicken stock (low sodium) -2 cups water -1 -28 oz. can diced tomatoes…
  • bump to put recipe in when i get home...
  • Bad news is I can't find it in Canada. Would like to try it! May have to do a trip to Great Falls sometime...
  • fresh vegetables? spaghetti squash was awesome for me. Maybe my pasta craving is all about the sauce and cheese, but some spaghetti squash, cooked and topped with some pasta sauce and a sprinkle of shredded parmesan makes me very happy. And much easier on my counter than spaghetti with sauce and cheese.
  • Frozen grapes or fruit can be really refreshing.

  • I'm just outside Medicine Hat, in Alberta... moved here in the last year from Vancouver... Add me if you'd like :) About 90 lbs to go, slowly. Want to do this in a way I can maintain forever, not crash diet and gain it all back as soon as i go back to "normal"... So I'm going to change "normal" :)
