  • For logging food you are better off using MFP. I have my Fitbit synced to MFP for the exercise calories to carry over to here.
  • The HR isn't specifically mentioned in this article, but I think that it does show that the clip ons are more accurate than the wrist worn Fitbits. http://jama.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=2108876
  • There have been quite a few similar threads to this since their new program came out.
  • I wouldn't even go as far as calling it a whey protein. Shakeology only has about 16-17g (depending on the flavor) which is a bit less compared to other whey protein powders.
  • And the only thing worse than that is when they try to start recruiting you to sell it even if you haven't used the product. I had a friend who was selling an MLM (not a weight loss product) and she was more interested in recruiting me as a consultant than she was about getting me to purchase a few items. It didn't matter…
  • If you are the one making the claims then you are the one who needs to provide the research. If a customer were to approach you with these questions would you tell them to use Google? I would think that if you sell it then you would already have links bookmarked or readily available. Your lack of any studies/research just…
  • 'If you leave you will fail' sounds like they are trying to scare you in order to keep your business. You are switching plans not quitting weight loss all together and you will be fine. You may have a bit of an adjustment period because your intake may increase slightly but it will be temporary. If you feel like you need…
  • I won't go into detail, but I dealt with my emotions by stuffing my face and gaining 36 pounds.
  • If someone wants group support and accountability I would suggest looking into TOPS instead of WW. That way they could follow their own program and pay a lot less (TOPS is $5 a month plus a yearly $20 fee). I don't think I would want to pay $40 a month to have someone weigh me in and get materials & listen to meeting…
  • That is a group started by a member, not the "Earn Your Holiday Dinner" and "The AvoLifestyle" challenges that are being ran by MFP itself. If you look on the More menu on the app you will see what is being discussed.
  • The challenges are open to U.S. members only.
  • I think that if people like the accountability and support of the meetings but don't want to count points, a better (and much cheaper) option would be to check out TOPS. Their meetings are only $5 a month plus a $20 yearly fee. I did WW a few years ago and while the program helped me drop 20 pounds in 6 months, the meeting…
  • Sending hugs. Are there any support groups in your area? Maybe it would help to have a group of people to talk to that are going through the same thing.
  • If you use the barcode scanner, make sure to double check those entries as well. I would suggest reading this to help with finding good entries. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1234699/logging-accurately-step-by-step-guide/p1
  • It also depends on what time it was that she was looking at her Fitbit calorie burn. It gives a exercise burn estimate based off of what she may burn up until midnight.
  • Good job. I like walking when I just need to clear my head but other than that I get bored with it too easily.
  • No advice, just wanted to wish you a speedy recovery.
  • If you are referring to what you see on the TV ads it's a waste and potentially dangerous.
  • It depends. If you are already at the minimum amount of calories (1500 for you) then it will not adjust. If you are eating more than that and it hasn't adjusted automatically, you will need to do that.
  • Sounds like more drivel to make obese people to sound like victims of the food industry by placing the blame on something other than the person. I find taking personal responsibility for my choices that brought me to this point much more powerful than playing the victim and blaming others. At least now I know that I'm in…
  • I wear a Fitbit so any activity that involves walking is added automatically. I've noticed that doing things like doing laundry, vacuuming, and other housework really doesn't add much to whatever else I'm doing for the day. I figure any arm movement or extra calories burned by carrying or pushing things is already…
  • I am obese and 2 pounds a week is not possible for me. At 1200 calories I could only expect to lose 1.4 a week. About your Fitbit though, when did you start to wear it? If it's today than you have to give it some time to get to know you and the data will be more accurate. If you want a better idea of what your calorie burn…
  • You just need to pick something, keep it simple without mixing several programs together and stick with it long enough for it to work. You seem to be stuck in a cycle of indecision and over complicating every single diet or program while making little to no progress. I've been around long enough to have seen you making…
  • I agree, and bananas were often demonized for stalling weight loss.
  • WW does have a limit on the 0 point fruits and veggies (5-8 servings depending on an individual's stats). That's where people trip themselves up. They think "free" means "free for all" and the next thing you know they are complaining about not being able to lose. It was a pretty common topic on their discussion boards.
  • I'm 5'5 and my goal weight (160) is in the overweight category. I chose that because that is what I feel good at. I really don't care to compare myself to others. It only does more harm than good. People think that I weigh about 20 pounds less than I actually do. I really don't see that as being a problem.
  • Just the other day a friend was complaining that they found a verified item that was very far off. It was a teaspoon of maple syrup for over 1,700 calories. I don't trust the scanner either and I have found several items that have been incorrect. I go by the rule of thumb to double check everything the first time I enter…
  • I think this is why progress pictures are so important. It's hard to see differences when we are looking at ourselves in the mirror everyday. I was getting discouraged about my face looking the same, but when I put a before and current picture side by side I was able to see a big difference right away.
  • I tried Hydroxycut to lose a quick 10 pounds and pretty much lost my mind. Once I upped the dosage as directed my brain was foggy, I had a hard time concentrating and I felt like I couldn't slow down. A few years later I tried Atkins after a friend recommended it. I lasted about five days before I broke down and had a huge…
