Back in '08 the Army was actually doing trials by looking for volunteers to take it to see if it was something they would make available to those in the overweight program. I declined after hearing the side effects but my friend took them up on it. I think she was on it for less than two weeks when she quit. All it took…

Maybe start taking baby steps instead of trying to go all in from day one. Start by focusing on getting into the habit of logging and slowly change your diet (noun) if you want to. As far as the gym goes, just play around until you find a routine you like. I've also found that my gym time is much more enjoyable when my…

Keep things simple. There is no need to go on a overly restrictive, complicated diet with a bunch of rules to follow.
-
During the evenings I crochet. It keeps my hands and mind busy and I'm not about to risk getting food on whatever I'm working on.
-
Age, activity level, and how much one chooses to lose each week all play factors in a person's calorie goal.
-
It's a personal preference. Weigh in as often or as little as you feel comfortable. Personally I do best with weighing myself daily.

Take the time to learn how MFP works by reading the guides in the announcements. There are a lot of people out there that don't understand how things work and give out bad advice based on assumptions. In general though, be realistic and patient.

My former best friend started selling one of these teatoxes that she found on Instagram a few months ago. After reading what it supposedly does, it's mind boggling to see how gullible people can be.

I drink mine black. I quit putting cream and sugar in it back in my early 20's. Baileys makes it a nice treat, but I wouldn't recommend it in the morning lol.

Go into Settings, and then Diary Settings. You can change it to public.
-
What is your daily goal (in grams) for your macros?
-
Screen shots of your diary won't show your macros by the gram. You would be better off setting it to public so others can see that information.
-
I had that problem with one entry. It would change grams to pounds for a Granny Smith Apple when I would close out my diary. Nothing scarier than seeing that I was 60,000 calories in the red lol.
-
It might also be a good idea to set your food diary to public so people can see if inaccuracy is the problem. Along with using a food scale to weigh all solids, you have to make sure that you are using the right food entries. There are quite a few inaccurate/outdated ones in the database.
-
I really don't understand why people ask for advice and refuse to be open minded about it. Good luck.
-
Being accurate/correct also means using the correct entries from the database. This is a very common problem for people starting out. Because there are so many user made entries it can be very easy to pick the wrong ones and you could be calculating your calories incorrectly without even knowing it. Make sure to read this…

The point that many people have made and you really haven't addressed is the fact that she may not be ready to join you at this point and you are going to have to accept that while continuing on with your weight loss. Learn how to be a good healthy example for her and as she watches you progress then she may decide to join…

Why, because she is not ready or willing to get 100% on board with changes you decided to make?

I would suggest asking your wife to make a compromise and put her treats in her own cupboard. That way she can still have them and they will be out of sight, out of mind for you. At the same time you have to learn to take personal responsibility for your stress eating and learn other ways to deal with that stress.
-
Why do you want to do this? You don't have to answer in this thread, but I would suggest sitting down and writing out a list of your whys. Read it a couple times a day especially when you feel like you don't want to log or exercise. Sometimes having it written on paper or saved in your phone can be more powerful than…

Logging accuracy will help. Along with using a food scale you have to make sure that you are using the correct food entries in the database. A lot of them are user entered and may be inaccurate or outdated. Reading the Logging Accurately thread will help you learn which entries to use and which ones to avoid.…

Read the helpful posts in the pinned announcements in this and the Getting Started forum. They have a ton of information on how to effectively use MFP. What is causing you to binge eat? Is it from being overly restrictive by cutting out too many things or your calorie goal being too low, or is it more of an emotional or…

Not all of us Americans buy into this. The only thing this mumbo jumbo motivates me to do is roll my eyes. And +1 for what blankiefinder said. I'm not trying to burn myself out physically or mentally.

It really depends on what post it is. If it's one of the automated posts about their food diary, or weight loss then I usually like it. I don't think that many people expect their friends to say "way to go", "nice burn", "nice logging" on every single post. I don't expect it from my friends. If they are asking for advice…

She lost me at "coach".

Along with using a food scale, the best advice I have received is to make sure that I'm choosing the correct entries in the food log. Both of these together make it a lot harder to eat more than I think that I am. I also learned the hard way to not let what others say or don't say get to me. I'm doing this for myself, not…

Along with using a food scale you also should make sure that you use accurate entries. I can tell you right now that your celery entry is off by a lot, luckily that one is in your favor. Read this guide to help you find correct database entries.…

She was the absolute worst, but a perfect example of someone who received help but was clearly not ready for it.

Maybe dad is part of the problem. Someone is enabling him and until that person gets help as well then an at home program won't work.
