  • The Diet Trap Solution by Judith Beck. It's great for learning how to deal with the mental/emotional hurdles of losing weight.
  • The first thing I would do is open my diary and ask others to take a look at it to see if any inaccuracies are causing me to be eating more than I think I am. A second set of eyes will catch things that we might not see as being inaccurate.
  • If you are forgetting to drink water there are plenty of free apps that will send you reminders during the day.
  • Thanks for the info! I'll have to make sure to order one.
  • The One and Zip are clip ons. If you plan on syncing it to MFP or have the data on the Fitbit be accurate then you should be wearing it all day.
  • The only thing you are doing wrong is comparing yourself to others. Some people have a lot to lose so they are able to lose faster at first. Some people aren't going about it in a healthy manner. The last thread I read in the success story forum the person lost a large amount in a short time period by eating 500 calories a…
  • I have learned to not expect anything from anyone, and that includes my MFP friends. I also don't expect comments on the auto posts. I figure by the time I post, the ones who have already completed their diary for the day aren't going to be back on until the next day. I have noticed that people are more likely to comment…
  • I think that sabotage is a word that is becoming overused when it comes to weight loss. They are offering you something, usually out of kindness or habit. Its not like they are secretly adding in calories into your food or forcing a cookie down your throat.
  • I would have replied with the phone number for the nearest eye doctor and suggest that they make an appointment. Also ignore the comment about looking pale, need lip tint, blah blah blah. You don't need to change a thing. Don't let them get to you. You have made a lot of progress and you should be very proud of yourself.
  • My first serious boyfriend broke up with me after receiving a stern talk from my dad. He basically told him that if he stayed with me he would ruin my life. I was 16 and heartbroken. I didn't know about this talk until a few years ago but after seeing how his life turned out I realized my dad did me a huge favor.
  • I tend to avoid the success stories forum because of this. I did peek in there after reading your post and the first thread I opened was exactly what you described, 100 pound loss in a short amount of time with a very low calorie goal.
  • I like mine. I had the Zip for three years and just upgraded to the Alta this week. I like that it reminds me to get up and move. The challenges are fun too. I like that it syncs to MFP. It takes the guesswork out of figuring out my exercise calories and the burns seem more realistic to me. I purchased mine at Target and…
  • I have thin, fine hair that I have been growing out for a few years now. I find that if I don't let it get too long it's still fairly easy to manage. Right now it's about the same length as yours. Using a deep conditioner a few times a week helps with the frizz. I also use a detangler that also protects from heat and it…
  • You do not need to change your starting weight. Go into goals and run them again to get an updated calorie goal.
  • That's kind of hilarious. I probably would have been OMG, I love him or something like that. [/quote] That's pretty much what I did. I also made sure to mention that the 'before' picture was actually his during picture since he gained the weight on purpose.
  • I have one weight loss MLM person on my friends list who posts other people's progress pictures several times a week. I finally caught on that these were not 'clients' but pictures she was finding on Google. I didn't call her out but I did mention that I recognized one of the pictures she posted was Drew Manning (the fit…
  • Don't forget to have a dress code.
  • I take my progress pictures in the same spot each time. I prop up my phone on my dresser and use the timer as well. I think that works better than a selfie in the mirror since my arm isn't blocking my body and I get a clearer picture. ETA: I also take my measurements when I take pictures. This way if the pictures don't…
  • I think the oddest thing I have seen logged is meal prep. Some people don't realize that day to day things like that are pretty much covered even if they are set to sedentary.
  • When it comes to the formula that MFP uses, you are supposed to eat them back (or at least a portion of them). There are other formulas that people use like the TDEE method where people don't add in their exercise calories since they are already added to the calorie goal.
  • I don't find it all that hard to figure out what half my exercise calories are. As a basic guideline I made for myself, I just try to make sure that my NET is at least 1200 (my before exercise goal is 1480). I use a Fitbit so that helps me with being more accurate than using cardio machines or gym equipment to figure out…
  • When I was 4 I wanted to be Pat Benetar.
  • Congrats! A destination wedding sounds like so much fun! I'm recently engaged but we haven't set a date yet. Feel free to add me!
  • If you are meeting someone, asking them a bunch of questions, and then asking them out in 5 minutes or less, then you may be coming off as being desperate and/or too pushy. That can be a big turn off and explain why you are being rejected by these guys. It would also be a good idea to adjust your expectations of what goes…
  • I've been a member at PF for a few years now. The only reason why I'm still there now is because I don't want to get roped into a contract when I plan on moving this year. My main problem with the one I go to is that while they do have free weights, there is really no room to use them. When I wanted to start using a…
  • When it comes to bananas I weigh it with the peel and then weigh the peel and subtract that weight when I'm done. It's less messy that way.
  • After three years I still love my Zip. The only downside to it is having the battery die at inconvenient times. If it ever does go out for good I want to replace it with the One.
  • I have a friend who posted a picture of a pair of panties that she found in her bed that didn't belong to her. She eventually deleted it but not before a bunch of her friends and family members commented on how horrible her husband is and telling her to leave him.
  • I think a lot of it has to do with the weekly weight loss goal. Someone sets up a new account and when they set up their goals they see that 2 pounds a week is an option and they go with it. I did the same thing but once I seen the recommendations from other members in the forum posts I changed it to 1 pound a week based…
  • I also ask people to include a message with a request. I have been accepting them without one recently because I don't think that information is viewable on the app. It's the same reason why I don't fault them for not having their own profile filled out. If someone unfriends me for whatever reason I don't take it personal.…
