  • Check out your gym's classes. I joined the YMCA and they have an indoor pool and water aerobics (1 hrs. sessions). Between that, the classes, and taking a book while doing 5-8 miles on the recumbent bike makes time go by fast. I also do the machines. The YMCA is on a monthly basis, not a yearly contract. And that helps.
  • I make my own Homemade Egg Substitute: •3 egg whites •2 tablespoons instant nonfat dry milk powder •1 teaspoon water Directions •In a small bowl, combine all ingredients. Use as a substitute for eggs. Yield: 1 serving (equivalent to 2 eggs). Nutritional Facts 1 serving equals 64 calories, 0.55 g fat (0 saturated fat), 2 mg…
  • I also have to lose 50 lbs. Since March 1st (when I had my Angiocath) I have lost 21 lbs. I do Water Arobics 5 days a week for 1 hr., and work out every day from 9 pm - 10 pm. I do both at the YMCA. Also, I have three "Taste of Home Comfort Diet Cookbook"s - and I cook everything out of them and they are my best friends.…
  • I would put the apple and grapes in a blender/food processor and eat them with a spoon. It's soft and still fresh fruit. I have a BlenTec and do that quite frequently. Or make a smoothie by using apple, grapes and vanilla yogurt. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
  • South Beach is a lot better than Atkins. It is low carb AND low fat. My friend did his own "lifestyle change" eating, stuck to 50 "bad" carbs a day, and lost 85 lbs. between May 31, 2010 and December 1, 2010. I have been able to lose 25.5 lbs. since February 15, 2011 by just sticking to my 1,200 calories per day as MFP…
  • Welcome to the MFP community. You will succeed by being accountable to yourself regarding what you eat. I am on a 1,200 calorie life style change (I refuse to call it a diet - that word make me want to eat), am 59 1/2 yrs. old, on all kinds of medication (bloodpressure, heart disease, diabetes, no thyroid, hormones, etc.…
  • What an inspiration! You look amazing.
  • I am 5'9 and my starting weight was 232 lbs. I put in my goal weight of 180 lbs., and MFP calculated 1,200 calories a day for me. I hope this helps. Good luck and keep up the good work.
