Care to take on what? The unverifiable "credentials" of an anonymous internet poster? Oh wait...you're being serious, aren't you?
-
I think you need to catch up with the thread. And, since "too much of anything is not good for you," why bring it up at all (unless it's just an attempt to discredit the "water is good for you" guy). Anyway, time for the gym. Anyone that would argue against water being good for you isn't going to change their mind anyway.…

Look, I'm about to let you have the last word, since you folks seem to get off on that (regardless of how much you know). Moderation, remember? No one said "drink tons and tons of it." At least use valid arguments.
-
Sorry, I feel the amount of water you listed (which no one recommends) is "ridiculous." But carry on with water being "dangerous." Just don't forget that drinking the same amount of those wonderful diet drinks is just as bad.
-
I drink plenty of water and feel fine. My authority is just as good as yours. Hint: Neither of us has any.
-
"All of these cases are associated with more than 5 L (usually 10-20 L) of water intake during a period of a few hours." Thanks for proving my point. It's funny. When someone mentions ice cream is "bad" for you, all the choir here preach about "moderation." When someone says water is good for you, you get those discussing…

Well, let's get this silly thing out of the way. I know it's all the rage on these forums to say how there's no such thing as too much sugar, fat, and how all the "cool kids" have a pint of B&J's each night, but now water can be bad? Just like everyone here says we don't need cleanses, since our body can handle it, we…

Can't really help you out, since I'm embarrassingly attractive... However, I've looked at more than a few of the profiles on here, and I think you'll do just fine!
-
I just knew there was a reason I didn't like skinny people!
-
Of course it isn't. And has anyone been advocating that the "friend" seek "permission" from her spouse? When I decided to lose weight, I let those close to me know about it, since it was important to me, and I wanted them to be a part of the experience. I guess some look at it as "why tell your spouse?" whereas I look at…

Is this actually a "friend" or yourself? There is no helping someone who doesn't take accountability for their overeating. Is your goal just to make your "friend" feel better about her weight, or to actually help her lose it?
-
Some on this site actually want to gain weight. Shocking, I know, but it's a crazy world.
-
I lost 40 lbs. too, and by doing whatever I felt like. I guess we sorta cancel each other out, huh?
-
It's even more "miopic" [sic] to not even finish reading the whole sentence (actually, that's closer to the literal meaning, come to think of it). I know the bolding didn't help, so I don't have much hope, but here goes: If you eat back all your exercise calories, exercise becomes pointless, from a weight-loss standpoint.
-
I think these forums are giving you bad habits. In the "real" world, you usually provide REASONS when disputing claims. Note: Cute little gifs and snarky phrases (e.g. "lolwhat?") also don't count. Just thought I'd offer some free advice, in case you try to debate someone on the outside.
-
You're correct. If you eat back all your exercise calories, exercise becomes pointless, from a weight-loss standpoint. Not to mention the fact that if you overestimate your caloric burn during your workout, you will actually be WORSE off than if you didn't exercise at all.
-
Congratulations on all your accomplishments! I only have to add my admiration at racing your daughter up the stairs! I don't know what age she is exactly, but that doesn't seem to be no mean feat at ANY weight!
-
Hmmm, I guess all the moderation advocates are still in bed. I'm looking forward to your interrogation regarding why you think soda is so evil (or else you wouldn't give it up, right?). I also like the kitty gifs.
-
I smell troll, but just in case... You've lost 75 lbs. and you ask a bunch of strangers for help in not binging? Why don't you just go back to doing what you were doing before this little episode?
-
Well, if you're going to play the ED card... You know, not everyone that decides to lose weight differently than what the MFP community sanctions has, or is going to submit to, an ED.
-
Not as miserable as being overweight, but that might just be me.
-
Just because I didn't eat back ALL my exercise calories while losing doesn't mean I didn't eat plenty. And LOL at your being "afraid" of food comment. I enjoy food all the time. The problem some people have is that they're not afraid ENOUGH of food.
-
So, if someone lost oh, I dunno, 2 lbs. per week (for the same 40 lb. total) WITHOUT eating back their exercise calories, do they win? (Without losing all their teeth, or some other horrible side-effects, obviously.)
-
Well, some say there's a such thing as being "addicted" to food. If this were the case, such poor afflicted souls would certainly have no choice in the matter. I don't believe in such a ridiculous concept, however. Obesity is most definitely a choice.
-
Well, I'm in the simple AND easy category. Most of my life I've been on the thin side. Over the last 3 or 4 years, poor lifestyle choices resulted in gaining around 40 lbs. Around 5 months or so ago, I decided to start limiting the amounts of food that I would eat (without drastically changing WHAT I ate), and to start an…
-
Thankfully, 15 pounds IS a lot of weight to me, especially since my (current) goal weight is only 40 lbs. below my lifetime high. You know, some people just might not like swinging around such a "small" amount of weight. No skinny-haters, please.
-
Re: "Stomach shrinking is a myth" I've lost around 40 lbs. over the last 6 months or so, and have drastically reduced the amount of food that I eat at one sitting. In the past, I've eaten whole large delivery pizzas (cheese only, however) by myself. Just last night, I went to a sandwich restaurant (Newks) and ate the whole…
-
Not to nitpick, but the original statement wasn't "One pound of muscle weighs more than one pound of fat," so your rebuttal isn't even appropriate. Anyway, carry on.
-
So what happens when a body "burns out?" It dies, right? Well, the OP is far from dead. She's posting AND gaining weight. Only on MFP does "I'm not losing weight" = "eat more food."
-
The forums certainly are "simple" here, I will grant you that.
