Some people have health reasons that prompt them to go low carb. I was one of these people. My addiction to simple carbohydrates was making me sick. It seems some people on these forums care more about weight loss than general health. If you really want to consider cutting out an entire food group, talking to a…

I don't eat true keto, but I eat VLC. I do allow myself a potato or some rice from time to time and 1/4 cup of berries as well. Other than that I eat veggies, proteins and fat. I am losing weight, gaining muscle and feel amazing. I've considered trying true keto but the halitosis really doesn't appeal to me.

Just so you know, this attitude of "I want to lose the weight fast or why bother" is what is making you gain weight. It isn't about instant gratification and you can't procrastinate with losing weight and then expect to make it up at the last minute. Bodies don't work that way. Sure, you might lose weight but you won't be…

I don't agree that how fast you lose weight effects how well you will keep it off. Calories in, calories out. That is true while you lose weight and after when you are trying to maintain. It's a myth people tell themselves when they go back to their old ways of eating and want to blame the weight gain on something else.…

I think what you eat is very important as far as hunger is concerned. If I eat mostly carbs (which let's face it, is what fruit is) then you will constantly be hungry. That's how they are. It sucks, but many people end up overweight simply from eating more carbohydrates. Eat more healthy fats (avocado, peanut butter, olive…

That salad looks kinda hot.

As for ideas: I will bake chicken breast (brushed lightly with olive oil and seasonings) with some roasted veggies (zucchini, squash, onions, carrots, parsnips, eggplant etc) and then make myself a baked potato or potato wedges. If I don't have time to roast the veggies, or have some leftover chicken I need to use up, I…

I started at similar height and weight as you and even had a similar diet. I honestly cut out all breads, pastas and sugar. I decided to start with just a week to see how I could handle it. It was so freaking hard but by the end of the week, my carb cravings were gone. Since then I have not re-introduced any gluten…

Maybe you're coming down with a cold or something? I find I get dehydrated a lot more quickly when I'm sick.

I think the theory is that you trigger your sugar receptors (I'm not a scientist or doctor, so whatever registers sweetness in the food in your brain) but don't actually get the sugar. Your brain is often left looking to get the sugar fix it believed it was getting. On the occasion that I eat artificial sweeteners, I don't…

Patience with myself is a big one, and one I never really had before. Also I have found the right balance of food instead of trying to get by on small amounts of junk as I have in the past. I have played around with my macros in the last few months and found a balance that makes me feel great and gives me steady results.…

It's dangerous stuff. I took it as a teenager. Granted, I lost ten pounds a week, but my heart raced, my moods were terrible, I would sweat and just the smell of the pill bottle would make me want to vomit. It also KILLED my appetite instead of reducing it, so many days, I ate nothing. It wasn't for me. I have a few family…

I think "naturally thin" is a thing heavy people make up in their minds because they'd rather believe that they were dealt an unfair hand in life rather than admit that it's because they eat a lot more than other people. I used to think people were naturally thin too, but they just eat less. If you judge your friends…

Yes I think I finally have overcome it. I LOVE food. I always have and always will. Don't get me wrong, there isn't a magic pill that will cure you of your desire to eat and enjoy. For me though, I have always used food as a reward for myself. Dealing with family is difficult: I load up on pasta and bread and focus on that…

To answer ndj1979, I cut all grains, fruits, honey etc. for the first month. So obviously I didn't cut ALL carbs, just the carbs that cause a huge spike in insulin. Eating a piece of whole wheat bread is the same as eating a spoonful of sugar and until I cut all those things out for a while, I couldn't shake the addiction.…

Cold turkey is the only thing that worked for me. And I haven't gone back yet. Weaning is just like slow torture to me, though I know it works for others. I quit cigarettes the same way. A few days of misery has been well worth it.
