I totally agree on that. There are some super cool recipes people post, but you have know idea how much or how many you can eat! It just takes a little extra effort (OK OK.. I better do this when I post a recipe!) Now to open up Pandora's box. If you are making your own food entries PLEASE don't make them public For…

Hi... I used to use nothing, but then I got sucked into all the gear and it makes working out more fun and I am learning a lot more. 1. I have a fitbit one which has been fantastic. I sync it up with MFP and it keeps me moving. I know that if I do 12000 to 14000 steps a day I have a good balance and can eat and still lose…

Here is another take: The groups that I see prosper are the ones where the members interact and become friends. Sometimes there is an element of competition. Here is a great example of a group that has been going on for a while. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/17713-move-your-ss-challenge Another good example are…

@hkristine1 What a great and simple method. Part of the fun of all of this is "rewarding" myself if I exercise extra. You have a great plan going there!
-
@Janie I used to do fitday.com and It was really hard to figure out how much you could eat. I workout more so that I can reward myself and enjoy this journey and then maintenance. (Then maybe bulk and cut - gulp) It is so cool that you are making it work!

This post - Wow!

@sijomial - That is what I have found... it's all 6 of one half dozen of another sometimes.:drinker: Some peoples pattern really lends itself to TDEE where others to the MFP eat back method. (I am an "eat back" kind of guy)

@Tibby - I had great input for this topic! :drinker: :drinker: :flowerforyou:

^^ what everyone above said Hi - There is some really good advice from the above posters. I understand that this may be a "tough pill" to swallow, but it is important to eat an appropriate level. Like many have said before: Look up BMR and TDEE Here is an awesome resouce: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ And…

The miles are one thing, but the calories burned are something else.. I had a wakeup call today when I realized some things: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1348299-snap-i-have-been-wrong-about-calorie-burns

@Mykaelous - Brilliant - I I do the same things sometimes with a Quest or Zone bar after a big workout - It is "all good" !

@Jkal1979 I think I just heard the sound of a giant hammer hitting a giant nail right on the head! :flowerforyou: It's the same thing as the "bogus" entries in the food database that "shave" 30-40 calories of something that is clearly published on an online website for that food just so that they "feel better" about…

@R3Ban1x The George Costanza quote Jerry, just remember. It's not a lie... if you believe it... just doesn't work here LOL!

@jwhited Referencing the classic Hogwarts gif! you just made my day! :drinker: :flowerforyou:

@walkingalong You have a pretty good point there. That is why I normally eat back 25% to 50% of my estimated exercise calories. But... last year... It looks like I probably ate several times over my TDEE and didn't know it DOH! :drinker:
-
@sijomial I did the worst case estimate from this site: http://www.topendsports.com/testing/norms/vo2max.htm I am going to try some self-testing (I know that is a can of worms) and then go to a reputable lab where they strap the mask on me and find out what my VO2max really is! Thanks!

Thanks for the post all of you who have contributed to it! :drinker:

I have a great mix of highly motivated Men and Women of all ages and fitness levels on my friends list, about 30% male. The common bond is that they are all trying to better themselves. On top of that a lot of them are really irreverent, sarcastic, and just plain hilarious! :drinker:
