  • 2 weeks ago I ate 7 tacos for dinner. I was so full and miserable after eating all of them. It didn't affect my weight loss any. A mistake here and there is no big deal. And that's not even the most I've eaten. Before I started losing weight, I could put down 12-15 tacos. I could never eat that much now without great pain…
  • It's a myth that you need to eat more calories to lose weight. The important thing is that you're getting enough nutrients. It's not easy to do that on very low calorie diets, which is why doctor supervision is needed for people who are eating less than 1200. If you know you're getting enough nutrients in 1300, there's…
  • Years ago when I was trying to diet, I would "plateau" because I was eating more and not counting it. If you plateau, it's probably because you either didn't account for your reduced bmr after losing weight or you are eating more than you're admitting to yourself. My advice is to eat maintenance for a few days or a week if…
  • You can lose water weight fast in a healthy way by drinking more water and reducing the amount of sodium you eat. Other than that, no. You're limited by your metabolism in how much fat you can burn each day. Exercise helps a little, but it's only a small percentage of the total calories you will burn. The good news is, it…
  • I do ADF which isn't much different from IF. You have to keep in mind that meal timing doesn't matter as far as weight loss goes, but it can keep you on track if there is something psychologically holding you back. ADF works for me because the more I think about food and plan out my meals daily, the more I want to overeat.…
  • I was 350 lbs and struggled to put my socks and shoes on. I couldn't walk a few feet without breathing heavily. Today I made it under 300 lbs for the first time in 7 years. Socks and shoes? Piece of cake. Walking? Easy peasy. My quality of life is improving with every pound I lose.
  • Not every guy thinks that way. It's just as likely that a woman would make the same comment. It's a relationship issue, not a gender issue. Either you've given him a reason to think that or he's insecure and controlling. Either way, your relationship needs work.

  • Tacos are my weakness too. I have a hard time controlling myself when I eat tacos or lasagna. I still allow myself to have them, but only once a month. If you do overeat, just remember that one day isn't going to ruin everything. Stressing about overeating is the worst thing you can do imo. It makes you want to give up.…
  • Congrats! I hit the 200 club today too! So happy. I haven't been this weight in 7 years
  • I started at 350 and now I'm 302. Hopefully I'll be in the 200s this week :) I have a desk job, don't exercise, and I'm still losing weight. I also dislike salads...there's not much nutrition in a salad anyway. I do plan on exercising later, but it's not my main concern right now. Exercise really isn't important to lose…
  • You shouldn't be feeling dizzy when you exercise. You should talk to your doctor about it. It could be a deficiency or medical condition. You may just be doing too much at once and need to slow it down.
  • Yes, this is a problem with most bmr calculators. Even the best ones are still only an estimate. They often assume more lean body mass than overweight people have. I use this one http://www.fat2fittools.com/tools/ It lets you put in your body fat percentage so that there aren't assumptions about your lean body mass. The…
  • It doesn't really matter where you add it. It's the same either way. But if I was in that situation, I'd add it to the next day so that I will be more aware of it.
  • I had my gallbladder removed about 7 weeks ago. My doctor told me I could eat anything I wanted after the first day. I did just that. Although I retained about 10 extra lbs of water weight after surgery, it fell off after about 3 weeks. I haven't had any problems losing weight since then. The reason most people gain weight…
  • I don't look at macros at all at this stage. I only care about calories. When I'm no longer obese, then I may set limits on fat for myself for health reasons. But I already eat a diverse diet, so I'm not too worried about macros in general.
  • You're not likely to see a change in one week. My weight fluctuates as much as 5 lbs per day. I could easily weigh more at the end of the week from water retention when I had really lost weight. It's not always going to show on the scale.
  • I've lost 48 lbs so far doing it. A lot of people here are against it, so you'll probably get a lot of negative responses. It really doesn't matter when you choose to eat though. It's easier for me to do ADF than to try to cut calories by a small amount each day. As long as you're not starving yourself and your overall…
  • I can't tell a difference in the mirror. Granted, I was 350 lbs when I started and 302 lbs is still obese. But my clothes don't fit anymore. All of my shorts are 4xl and they fall off of me even when I tie them with drawstrings. I started on the 2nd notch on my belt and now I'm on the last notch. Some of my fat 4xl shirts…
  • I didn't worry about it. I ate dinner with my family TWICE. It didn't affect anything in the grand scheme of things. One day isn't going to ruin anything. And if you do get off track, just eat maintenance until you can get motivated to lose weight again. That's what I do and it works wonderfully. I haven't gained back a…
  • I've found that for some people, the bmr/tdee calculators can be off by a LOT. I use one that lets me put in my body fat percentage and takes that into account. It spits out a number that is 1000 fewer calories than other calculators. I think the other calculators tend to be off by a lot for people who have high body fat…
  • I'm not a big pizza fan, but because of family I've eaten it twice in the past 2 weeks. I've still lost weight. I even had a couple of days of very high calories and that hasn't stopped me from losing weight. When you stay under your goal consistently, a day here and there of splurging really isn't a big deal and may even…
  • Skinny Cow ice cream isn't bad. Personally, I don't bother substituting anymore because it's more difficult for me to lose weight that way.
  • Wellbutrin isn't an SSRI. It also doesn't cause weight gain. In fact, studies have shown that it helps promote weight loss.
  • Assuming you're actually eating a deficit, it's probably just water weight. Someone who is sedentary and starts exercising can end up retaining water to repair muscles. When I exercise, it's not uncommon for me to gain water weight for 2-3 days.
  • Some people find that changing their diet and eating only healthy foods is easier for them than having junk food around to binge on. Others find it easier to lose weight by eating what they normally eat, but smaller portions. Depending on how overweight you are, losing weight on a less optimal diet could be preferable to…
  • Everyone is different. Nobody can tell you how much you should be drinking. Some days I drink as much as a gallon. Some days I drink half a gallon. How much you need to drink depends on how big you are, how much you move around, how much you sweat, what you eat, the state of your kidneys, whether or not your body is…
  • Don't think of it as cheating. If you can't sustain your diet, then eat at maintenance for a few days or a week until you're ready to get back at it. No damage will be done. You'll be able to pick back up where you left off. It will take a little longer to lose the weight, but it will be easier.

  • What I used to do is add up the total calories of all the ingredients I was using, then divide it by how many portions you have. It's not going to be exact, but no calorie counts are exact anyway.
  • Buy and cook smaller portions. I've tried replacing foods with healthier alternatives, and it didn't work out for me. I've always eaten a lot of fruits and vegetables, so I'm not really worried about what I'm eating as much as how much I'm eating. Now instead of having 2 or 3 burgers, I have 1 burger. You can eat anything…
  • It wouldn't matter much except in meats that have a lot of fat or water and will shrink considerably. In those cases, the calories you'll find online are usually based on pre-cooked weight. And there's no real way to determine exactly how many calories a particular steak has for example. Some steaks will have more fat…
