Does it count if my dog is also starting the c25k today? :D It's funny, I got her from the pound a few years back, and she's always been extremely excitable and whines almost constantly if anyone puts a leash on her or takes her on a car ride. Since I've been walking her for the last few weeks, she hardly every whines now!…

Isn't the Color Run in October at the Pomona fair grounds? You must be a local in my area! LA County, CA. Or is it a different Color Run somewhere across the country? I really want to try it, but I have some asthma issues. Most of the time it doesn't bother me, I don't even have an inhaler. But what really exacerbates it…

My highest was 16k on an exceptionally busy day at work. I'm only had mine for 4 days though, and I haven't used it during a running day like today, so we'll see how it goes!

I got a fitbit zip a few days ago and I'm sort of ambivalent about it. On one hand, it's nice to see an estimate of how much I move. On the other hand, mine doesn't seem to be very accurate. I think because I am fat, when I walk I jiggle quite a bit, which is causing a bunch of extra steps to be registered. And LADIES! If…

Today I forced myself to eat all my calories, and I feel so bloated right now. My stomach hurts, I have abdominal cramps, and it feels like a 10lbs weight is in my stomach. Even though I'm accurately logging everything, I'm wondering if the MFP calorie goal is actually too high for me. I mean, I didn't get to be 230lbs by…

Had a bit of a set back. Twisted my ankle pretty badly, so I had to take a week off the rest. Right now it's still tender to walk on, so I'm taking a couple weeks to walk, and then I'm going to start the c25k. This time I'm confident I can do it aerobics-wise, it's just wondering if my ankle will be up to running by then.…

Yes, it is Santa Monica. Is the course actually on the sand? We have no idea what it's going to be like. And I agree it is more important to support my mom than to worry about running. There are plenty of 5ks I can do on my own and run those. There's no way I could leave my dog behind while I went running. My dog is a…

Personally I like the timed ones, because then I don't have to mark out the distance and figure out where to start and stop. I like having the little chime in my pocket that tells me when to run and when to walk. I'm a neighborhood runner/walking, so it's probably different if you're on a track or treadmill and distances…

SW: 229.4 CW: 227.6 GW (July): 224 GW (total): 170 Still got a long way to go, but I signed up for a 5k in September, so I'm training for that now.

Many years ago in some PE class, I heard one of the coaches say that "running" was the speed at which your back foot leaves the ground before your lead foot contacts. In walking, one foot is always on the ground, but in running, you have a short period of being in the air. That being said, everyone's running speed is…

I use MapMyRun app on my phone. I love looking up the little peaks in my run intervals afterward.

I find that when I need to mull over a scene, going for a nice long walk really helps to loosen things up. Sometimes you need to distract yourself from your problem before you see the solution.

What fanfiction are you writing in? I do FF too, but I was an original writer before. I was always afraid to try FF because I thought I'd have too much of a hard time being true to the characters, but I stuck my pen in last year, and to my shock people actually liked it. It was a very encouraging feeling.

There is a group called Let's Lose 50+, and so far people there seem pretty open and friendly.

I'm slowly getting into running. I'm not getting into c25k yet, but I plan to in a couple weeks. Right now I'm doing walk/run intervals for 30 minutes 3 times a week. I'm looking for some kind of strength training to do when I don't run, but I haven't found a program I like yet. Eventually I'd like to get into biking as…

For me, I found that if I couldn't even finish the first day, it was too discouraging to not see any progress. That's why I started my custom run program. This way I improve every week, and I can move onto the next week knowing I was able to complete the last week.
-
Maybe I could start the c25k program now. When I tried it before, I was feeling like the runs were too long and the walks not long enough, so I basically cut the run time in half and doubled the walk time, and repeat it 8 times. When I did that, it was the first time I was actually able to run intervals and complete all of…

Keep going! I also have dreams about running for the joy of it. I'm one of those people that are so unfit that even the c25k first day is too hard for me, so I started my own running (30 seconds running, 2.5 minutes running for week 1). I'm on the 5th week of my running now and am up to 1.5 minutes running with 1.5 minutes…

You need to get one of those little counters bus drivers use to count kids, click it every time you do a lap. Then you'd know how far you go. I wouldn't mind running on a track, but I'd want it to be a large track, I think 17 times a mile (for me that a little less than 1 lap per minute) would drive me nuts, like a hamster…

I live in Southern California, so it does get quite hot here. However I try to go running in the mornings, before it gets killer hot here. Maybe as the summer progresses and we have 95+ degree nights I might have to find an alternative. I think that carrying a 1L bottle and drinking half of it before I'm done running is…

This is my first horse, so it's not like I've had a lot of experience with other genders, but I have to admit I'm glad I have a mare. The thought of sheathe cleaning terrifies me! :-)

Yep, he's an awesome reader! Wait until you get to Changes! There's a part there (and if you've listened to it you know what I'm talking about) that just makes me shiver every time.

Okay, I'll look up Mare Magic and see if my local feed store carries it. My mare isn't a problem most of the time. She prefers running away to standing her ground with the other horses, and I've never had an issue or really noticed a difference when I worked her during her cycles before, but with the gelding now, she was…

I'm working on a medieval fantasy romance about an arranged marriage between a conqueror and the native princess, and I will also admit to writing JAFF as well. If you know what it is, I'll tell you what I wrote, if you don't know, you wouldn't get it anyway.

Hi, I'm Autumn, I write a lot of fantasy romances (above the waist, clean romances) and of course I read a lot as well.

Awesome! I'm proud of you! I'm working on the 4th week of my custom intervals (1:15 of running to 1:45 of walking), and I'm looking forward to another couple weeks, when I'll finally be starting the C25K program. How did you get pictures of your MapMyRun page? Did you just take a screen shot, or is there an export option I…

I'm a YSA too, glad to find other LDS people out there!

I think you have a great improvement between those two screenshots! Good job at finally being able to complete W1D1. How have you been doing lately?

The audiobooks are actually how I discovered the series, they are awesome! (Except for Ghost Story, for obvious reasons.) You can tell that James really gets into the reading, and he's a natural the way he is able to not just read the story, but sound like he's actually going through the motions. In my head, Harry's voice…

I actually finished week 1, and now I'm at week 2, just completed my second day with 45 second intervals. It's 15 second increase to each run interval (with 8 running intervals), with a 15 second decrease in my walking intervals at the same time. I know that the C25K increases much faster than that, but that's what I have…
