Okay, so I was showing my bar off to my mom, and she tried to do an ohp by basically straight arming it directly over her head. I took the bar back and offered to show her how to do one... while standing under the hanging dining room lights. Thankfully, she stopped me before any damage was done. *cough* Usually I exercise…

It doesn't hurt, it feels exactly like I'm cracking my knuckles, only in my hip. It was definitely deep on the inside of my groin where I felt it. I have the bar, but I was going to start the stronglifts Monday, so do I still need to check in? And yeah, having the bar is pretty cool. I've been trying to practice with an…

Okay, another question, do you prefer the paper or the digital version?

I finally got my barbell today and was fiddling around with it a little. Even though I got a standard bar that is "only" 15lbs, it was still heavier than I expected! I'm really, really glad I stuck with this one instead of going for a full olympic. If I had a full 45lbs olympic, I can almost guarantee that I wouldn't be…

Which version of the book do you recommend? I was looking online for it since it's referenced so often, and found a 2013 SS, a 2014 Practical Programing for SS and a 2007 2nd edition SS. I'm just wondering if there's a practical difference between the three, and which is considered the most up to date/useful?

Thanks for the good advice here. I downloaded the app and have been messing around with it to get used to things. Do you recommend purchasing the extras in the app? Do you find they are worth it? Do you use all of them, or are only 1-2 of them useful?

So you recommend carbs after lifting? I heard it was protein. I've been trying to get some protein within half an hour of lifting (right now I'm just putzing around with 3lbs weights on my own, which is why I like the structure of SL 5x5

I'm pretty good with wood working, do you think I could build a power cage?

This might be a stupid question, but I was doing squats today just to practice form, and I had a hard time holding my breath. I took a big breath at the top, held it, went down, came up, and breathed. I was getting very dizzy and light-headed, and now I have a headache from that. That's not supposed to happen, is it? I did…

I'm 5'5" 240lbs, "Lightly active," and my calories are 2240! I do feel that's a bit high for me, but what I do is prelog my entire day of food and put everything into a bag, then when I get hungry I can reach into the bag and eat anything I want that's inside, because I know it's all accounted for. By the end of the night,…

This is my safety method too!

I went for my 6th ride today, and there were a lot of firsts in this ride. I once heard someone say that when you're trying something new, you need to try it at least 6 times before you make a decision about it. Today I feel like I reached some kind of threshold when it comes to cycling. I added hills for the first time…

Thanks, that's a great inspiration!

Went for my third ride today. I brought my saddle way up, and adjusted the angle to make sure it was flat. I also tried to focus on my posture more, make sure I was resting on my sit bones. It felt a lot better. My legs are still tired, but at least the same felt uncomfortable instead of a torture device. Also, I went two…

I have a couple questions that are probably very stupid. One, where do you put the pedal on your foot? I know it's not the heel, but do you pedal with the ball of your foot or the arch, or does it not really matter? Second, does biking improve your core because you're using your upper body to balance? I don't expect it to…

I know what the sit bones are... on animals. I'm going to school for vet tech, so I am fairly well based on animal anatomy. I guess I'll have to brush up on human anatomy!

I just did my second ride on the bike. I shifted to a lower gear and it was a lot easier. I think I'm now in 3rd gear. I'll probably continue to shift downward on my next ride. I was still winded after only five minutes, but I could tell I wasn't working as hard. Still having burning in the muscles just above my knees. And…

Question, do you recommend I do a little every day, or like any other new thing, give myself rest days between efforts? Also, I found that my backside was sore the next day, even though I rode for less than 5 minutes. Is that something else that will get better over time?

I actually find music during my runs to be super annoying. I don't like the feel of headphones in my ears while moving. Also, I use my phone to track myself, so I basically only use i<3radio for music. While most the music there is good, but there are several songs I don't like, and I find it really irritating to have to…

It only has 7 total gears. It says 7 on the right hand side, with nothing beside a hand brake on the left side. My last bike was a cheap mountain bike that was really uncomfortable, and I never rode it until it was in such bad shape it became scrap metal. I was hoping that a more cruiser-type bike would be more comfortable…

Have you joined the C25K group yet? Great bunch of people, and they off lots of good advice and encouragement. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/30-couch-to-5k-running-program-c25k

Thanks for the advice astrose00, and can I just say your dog is really cute? I do have a bike shop nearby, so I'll probably stop in and see them with my bike to get fitted. As for what kind of bike I'm using, I don't rightly know. This is the bike I'm using:…

I'm Autumn, I love to read and write. My main genre is anything with a supernatural element to it, whether it's sword and sorcery, or urban fantasy.

I loved Skin Game. This is my favorite in the series. Of course I also love heist-type plots too, so I might be a little biased. There are too many good parts to choose a favorite, but I'll say any of the interactions with Karrin (not the dream, though, that wasn't real-Karrin), and when Michael gets to come out to play…

I thought that was a great book, and I was lucky enough to be able to attend one of Deborah's signings. She had a sore throat, poor thing, but did her best to answer questions. It was awesome!

I use Body Fortress Chocolate powder, and I mix it with twice the amount of milk as recommended. Diluted like that, it's pretty good. I definitely don't like it with water though.

Is there a way to adjust how many calories the Fitbit says you're tracking? For example, mine says that at resting, I burn 1.2 calories per minute. Can I manually adjust that rate, or is it pre-calculated and untouchable?

Ever since I twisted my foot a couple weeks ago, I've had sharp pain in the meta-tarsal area whenever I put pressure on the ball of my foot. It comes and goes, sometimes it's extremely sharp, sometimes it's only a little ache, sometimes I can walk perfectly normal without pain, and then without warning I'll have that same…

Just finished W1D1! It was a little harder than I expected, which usually means I need to slow down. I did have some wheezing issues this morning, I passed by a couple fresh-cut lawns and my hay-fever triggered some mild asthma. For the most part it isn't too bad, just a feeling of heaviness on my chest and a tightness in…
