Thanks for the reference, I will do some more research. Appreciated!

Oh yes, definitely going with a group, they recommend doing whatever you can to increase fitness and get used to being on your feet with additional load for several hours - have also been to a personal trainer who's done the trek. I just figure there is a lot of accumulated experience and knowledge amongst the folks on…

This is a really useful insight, thankyou! I might acquire one of those altitude training masks...and it'll make me look badass as I hike :-)
-
Yes I wish I could but I live in Australia, our "high mountains" are nothing really and aren't high enough for any kind of altitude training. Altitude is probably the only thing I'm a bit worried about because I can't do a test run and don't know if I'm one of those folks who are sensitive to it

You have awesome muscles in your success pic! All power to you

Snake oil. Just Eat Real Food. It has all the stuff we need

I'd be a bit worried about the sodium in all that tinned fish

Walking is great for weight loss, especially if you enjoy it.....and it can be good for clarity of thinking and overall mental health, especially if you're exercising outdoors. Enjoy, that's what it's all about

There is some really good advice here, but what's so nice to see is how supportive everyone has been to the OP. The interwebs can be a nasty place sometimes, but this goes to show it doesn't have to be. Lesson: you are not alone :-)

This is all really useful info, I'm doing the everest base camp trek in September!

There's one near me and I've been putting off going to it. All your lovely positive posts are telling me to stop procrastinating and just do it!

If nobody else has suggested : souffles are easy when you get the hang of them!

I'm a new convert to coconut amino sauce, it's really delicious, not too high in calories.

My understanding is that the omega oils are less stable at room temperature, so the flax meal retains more nutritional benefit by being refrigerated - I store mine in air tight container in the fridge.

This is really good advice. I second the sentiment :-)

Find a good beans recipe! I add red and green peppers, leeks, celery, tomatoes and of course chilli. Great meal, keeps you full for hours

I second the above post. Garcinia cambogia is yet another product (in a very long list) for which there is no real evidence that it actually works. It does however, makr a lot of money for people who are happy to sell it to naive folks

I wouldn't expect anything more from news.com looking for clickbait!

Just. Keep. Swimming.

Well done you! I can totally relate to the whole "no starting pic" situation. There is no photographic record of me. Anywhere. Hadn't allowed my photo to be taken in more than 5 years

These are noble and worthy goals, good luck!

I have it mixed into my overnight oats, cinnamon and grated ginger. Yum

I found it interesting : the more I do, the more I CAN do! So much more energy
-
Wonderful! A lot can happen in 100 days

Sorry, can't seem to find the pic you refer to

Yep, vegan here and I have no problems meeting my protein goal - chia seeds every morning. Pulses at least once a day, and quinoa with salad quite often. PLUS large quantities of veg.

Agility, feeling fit, strong and healthy, accidentally catching a glance of myself in mirror and not avoiding my own glance

Apples are delish! And the health benefits of eating the whole fruit, including skin are well-known. Good choice!

I take "blackmores B12" tablet, in addition to fortified plant based milks and truckloads of nutritional yeast

I travel a lot for my work too, and I'm vegan, so getting food can be tricky, here's what I do: I have a little induction cooktop, its the diameter of a dinner plate, so quite small. I cook basic meals, often in the bathroom. OR you could adapt your diet to eat a lot of salads you can prepare yourself - I find I can do OK…
