I think you should go for 1lb a day first. As the weights come off, you will feel more comfortable with eating less. Then, perhaps you can go for more weight lost. I am 5'2" and was 181lbs. Now, I am 149.9 (according to this morning scale). I started out with the goal of losing 1lb a week.

You need to drink enough water to lose weights. Exercise more can help losing the water weights.

Yes, I walk daily for 5-9 miles with the speed of 3 mph. I have lost more than 20 lbs already. You have to watch the calorie intake as well.

losing 5 lbs in a month is healthy. My goal is to lose 1.1 lbs in a week, and that is less than 5 lbs in a month. Lots of people on here take a year or two years to lose all the weights.
