  • It's my birthday in two weeks and there's a dress I'd love to wear. It's the Hell Bunny Jackie Pin Up Dress. It's somewhat unforgiving. I'd be THRILLED if I felt comfortable in it in two weeks.
  • I'm not too big on Disney but I'm really into Harry Potter.
  • I know I'm going against what everybody else is saying, but it IS possible to fit in treats even at 1200kcal. Eg my diary today: Breakfast: 50g pumpernickel bread with jam (it's VERY dark bread and keeps me quite full for a long time) Lunch: Mixed leaf salad, 3 slices garlic bread and a sausage Dinner: two big bowls of…
  • I go for low-fat in yogurt, milk and quark. I can eat more and they're good for my protein levels. There's one German cheese that is naturally very low-fat and I love it. Other than that I've made cheese a special treat and only have some once a week or so and then I go for full fat, no matter if it's cheddar or gorgonzola…
  • I drink a lot of cold tea in summer. Mainly peppermint but also some green teas or fruit infusions. You can either just out the tea bags into cold water and leave them for ages or into hot water and drink it the next day. If you add splenda etc, it's pretty low-cal.
  • I've got another 2 weeks until my birthday and i'd like to get under 90kg until then. I've already lost 5kg. The next big date is the school reunion in December, I'd like to be at goal weight then, which is 75kg.
  • Yup. I had a nice box with a carrot, some cherry tomatoes and two low-fat frankfurters. I did have some chocolate biscuits in the afternoon but they were within my calories.
  • I weigh myself most days but I only log it when the weight goes down. I know as long as I eat reasonably, then sometimes the scales might go up but they WILL go down again.
  • In Germany we only call social services if a child is being seriously mistreated and I as a normal teacher wouldn't even be allowed to do so. I'd have to tell the principal if I think a child is being abused and he can choose to inform child services. German schools also don't have school nurses - what do they do in…
  • Thank you but I'd like to stress that I work in a rural area at a school with kids from fairly affluent families. There are no hard drugs, hardly any crime. Your thanks need to go to those teachers who work in underpriviledged areas where parents honestly can't afford to feed their kids. Once or twice I've bought kids…
  • Gotta jump back into the convo now that I'm back from school. I teach children and young adults age 10 to 18 and I don't just see myself as being the person who talks to them about history and literature but also as another person who cares for them. I know "my" kids. When one of them looks upset, I'll ask what's wrong.…
  • I used to LOVE swimming when I was a kid but then I developed a slight allergy to chlorine, so I get itchy skin and red eyes now. Still, if I wear good googles and shower immediately, i CAN swim. But then, there's the money. I pay 20€ for my gym membership, that's less than 2€ if I go 12 times a month. A pool membership…
  • Energy drinks are banned at my school. They are not just unhealthy, they're potentially very harmful to growing bodies. I don't think one should make a fuss because of some sweet treats but a child should not be consuming caffeine and taurin etc.
  • I've had my gall bladder removed and was told absolutely nothing about what and how to eat. Yay. I'd recommend eating low-ish fat, I tend to get stomach problems when I eat very rich foods. I think your 1610 should be fine. It's not super-low and while you're healing you probably won't move very much. If you feel really…
  • Basically, what the others said. Even I don't feel hungry on some rare days, maybe because I ate more the day before or because I'm feeling under the weather. But it definitely shouldn't become a habit to eat too little because you simply can't get all the nutritients you need and enough fuel for your body.
  • IF I ever had large amounts of calories left over, I'd have apple with peanut butter, maybe some cheese, maybe even with good quality bread.
  • I really like having dessert, so I tend to leave some calories so I can have some chocolate pudding, pudding, cookies etc. Most nights I have a small pot of chocolate pudding that clocks in at just over 100kcal. Tonight I'm at the cinema and will be eating at Subway's, so I've already logged a cookie.
  • Tomate soup with shrimp, 2 slices of crispbread with some low-fat weird German smelly cheese.
  • I really truly could not care less about whether or not people wear socks to the gym. Matter of fact, as long as their clothing is gym-appropriate (no evening gowns), I don't care about that either. They aren't there for my visual entertainment and I'm not there for others to think "uhhh look at those pink socks, so…
  • If you're not watching sodium, why not just drink a nice cup of broth? Maybe add some peas or even an egg?
  • To you, too, thank you for your concern! On some days I AM very hungry. And that's when I eat something in between. MFP gives me 1310kcal/day but I tend to aim (!) for 1200. Aiming for a lower number means I don't log the milk I put into my coffee at work. It also means that if a colleague or pupil brings cake or other…
  • Thank you for your concern, I appreciate it. And I have indeed been eating very little this week because there are two parties coming up this weekend and I've been saving up my calories. I know there a lots of people who don't agree with the concept of "saving up" but I think it's ok to disagree on that. The thing is:…
  • I don't follow a plan as such but roughly this is what I eat. I tend to eat very little during the day because I hate being hungry in the evening. Weekday breakfast: a banana or a banana with low-fat joghurt or quark Weekend breakfast: either skip or scrambled eggs with bacon or smoked salmon Lunch: Salad (lettuce, tomato,…
  • Somebody to grade my 5th grade paper. And a hug. Mostly a hug.
  • Just a banana most days. I arrive at work at 7 and start properly at 8 but I usually eat my banana during break at 10.15. Reason: If I eat before work, I'm STILL hungry during break and I eat again. But even if I eat plenty in the morning, I'm still horribly hungry in the evening. So I prefer to be hungry during the day…
  • Oh come on folks, don't give up on them. So my last boyfriend was an idiot who cheated and tried to turn my friends against me. But the one before was gentle, caring, trustworthy, and so many more good things but I was too young and stupid to understand. And my current partner is a man I would be proud to call my friend…
  • All the guys in my group of friends have beards but I was never into it. Until I met this guy whom I really started to like. Didn't matter that he had a beard. So I guess now I like beards ;-)
  • Nope. I broke up with my long-term partner June last year and started dating late August. I weighed in at around 200lbs at 5ft6, so not exactly elven maiden here. I had a semi-serious fling with a guy first. An ex of his had told me he like girls on the big side but I was still majorly scared of undressing in front of him.…
  • That's what? A 2.xkg fluctuation? NO need to worry. I've only recently started eating better and exercising again and the first 2 weeks hardly anything happened. Now I'm beginning to lose. There are different reasons why you might have "gained" weight. It could be water retention. Or maybe you've been eating a lot more…
  • I think it would be wise to go before work. Maybe let a trusted colleague know which gym you go to. But IF something happens, these measures won't really help. Maybe you could try and find a gym buddy who keeps similar hours? Maybe you could even get a work colleague to join?
