  • You are definitely not alone! Unfortunately, my 2nd instinctual response is a glass of wine and trashy TV. I really push myself to go for a walk in silence and allow myself to clear my head. That works pretty well for me! Good luck!
  • I have used cottage cheese in smoothies before! I don't measure, but try some cottage cheese, vanilla whey, a teaspoon or so of cheesecake flavored jello powder It takes very similar to cheesecake & you can add in fruits or other liquids, as well :)
  • I did my first Warrior Dash this past weekend and it was a BLAST - and I hate running! My personal opinion is that I actually had the guts to sign up, drive to it and finish the race (albeit very slowly) and that was an accomplishment in itself. I have several friends who didn't even dare sign up! There are PLENTY of…

  • I used to be a religious Quiche eater! I'd make a quiche on a Sunday and eat it everyday for breakfast. You can vary it in many ways. I used greek yogurt to help "fluff" it and then mushrooms, onions, spinach and whatever else to mix in. Otherwise - I'll do a protein smoothie and a banana or something. Good luck!
  • Thanks everyone!
  • This thyroid journey is tough! I'm also on an antidepressant (Zoloft) - I wonder if that is messing with my weight loss? Hmmmm.
  • I'm standing in a wedding on Sept 15th. I would really like to lose 2" around my waist, or 10ish pounds by then. I'm not sure which is more realistic! I'm hypothyroid... so it's a slow process for me to lose.

  • This is seriously SUCH an inspiration! I tried on bathing suits last night and CRIED in the fitting room because I was SO unhappy with my body. You ladies are ALL incredible - simply for having the guts to post on here. Hopefully I will be able to contribute soon :) Keep it up!!
  • It's unfortunate that we CAN'T spot train - wouldn't that make life so much easier? Keep doing the total-body workouts that incorporate cardio and strength training. I'm a big fan of Jillian Michaels DVD's. She really rips on your entire core. Good luck!
  • Great post! I am fortunate enough to have a doctor that LISTENS to me. I am "in range" with my numbers, but still low in range. So, she gave me 3 months worth of samples of a higher dose of Synthroid. I feel fortunate here. But, even still, I HATE being on a weight-loss journey and having to work twice as hard as some…
  • Fire up Chips! CMU Alum circa 2011 :)
  • There is a group for Hypothyroid if you're interested - search for it!
  • I have an FT4 and have only had problems in 2 situations: 1. My strap wasn't wet enough when I put it on 2. I was running alongside somebody else with a Polar HRM --- maybe some interference? Good luck!
  • I make a large version of this "salad" and eat it for a few days: Chicken Breast (shredded) Garbanzo Beans - 1 can, drained Chopped Red Bell Pepper Chopped Cucumber Diced Tomato Chopped Red Onion Feta Cheese Dressing: 1/4ish cup EVOO A few table spoons red wine vinegar Dash of oregano I don't measure much, I just throw…
  • I live in Midland - from St. Johns (just north of Lansing). I ALWAYS fall off the exercise wagon during the winter. My big motivator is about setting mini-goals to have something to reach for. I've recently been doing various workout DVD's at home and that's been great! Winters in Michigan seem like they should be spent in…

  • I agree with most of these posts. Try 1 thing at a time. Your situation DOES sound overwhelming - don't overwhelm it even more by trying to change every part of your entire life. What's most important to YOU? Work on incrementally changing that first. Does that mean NO MORE sugar, salt, cigarettes, etc? Not at all.…
  • I am loving 30DS. It's only a 20 minute work out, so it's easy to stick with. And, for me it's HARD. It makes me work on muscles that haven't been moved in a while :) Best of luck!

  • I agree with Mirror_Mirror. I am in a similar boat and I just plan snacks into my day! If I bring my lunch, I will pull something small out of it and save it for a mid-afternoon snack. Or, I'll drink lots of water or crystal light. Mints & gum work wonders, as well. I wish you luck!
  • Today will be day 9! I've been motivated with the workouts... not so much in the kitchen!
  • Hi Chelsea! I graduated in May 2011 and now work at a chemical company. I studied Marketing & Professional Sales. I would NEVER exchange my 4 years at CMU for anything! It's an amazing school with amazing people! I've never been thin, but sitting at a desk all day has taken a toll on my body. I need something (like MFP) to…
  • I am definitely going to try this! Thanks for sharing!
  • My boyfriend and I are on a tight budget and we're pretty lame :) Things we like to do consist of: Bike Rides to new places Ping Pong (I bought a cheap, used table) Cook new things Invite a couple of friends over for "game nights" Crossword puzzles I like to work-out, but the boyfriend doesn't! But, I've recently gotten…

  • Hi All! My name is Shelby and I will be 23 in just a few weeks! I graduated from college a year ago and have an awesome job at a large chemical company. I have no children and am not married, but have been with my amazing boyfriend for about 5 years. He recently moved to my area of the state... so hopefully the ring will…

  • I'm from St. Johns (Clinton County), but live in Midland now. And, I still choose to workout at home :)
  • Bump! I need to get with the program :)
  • Welcome! I just returned a bit ago, as well. 22 years old, unmarried, no kids, working professional at a chemical company... sit on my butt all day :) I need to get my college weight off! Add me if you'd like! I need support, as well.
  • Stayed the same! I'm happy with that, though. I have my hormones running like crazy this week :) That always means lots of bloat for me!
  • Don't be embarrassed! I can absolutely relate. C25K is a great program. However, this is what I do and it works wonderfully! I do run/walk intervals. It sounds like it would be "too easy", but it's wonderful. I jog for 4 minutes and walk for 1 and then repeat. I do this starting right away. I can easily go for 40 minutes…
