I am at 1438 per TDEE-5%. I actually lost more weight upping my calories slightly. I take synthroid…my endo won't switch me either (same reasoning). I am actually feeling a lot better so I'm not interested in "switching" at this point (just remember that everyone is different so do what works for you).

Have you taken any measurements or are you strictly going by the scale?
-
MFP had me at 1200 calories which seemed extremely restrictive.....been losing weight using TDEE.
-
Synthroid when I get up....supplements in the afternoon.

5 ft. 6.5 inches, BMR 1270, TDEE 1524 daily calorie goal is 1438. Carbs: 67.3 Protein 135 Fat 54 I always end up going over on carbs but am WAY under on Protein.

I shop at thrift stores so I am constantly donating clothes I do not wear or don't fit....that way someone else can wear it. :)

Thanks everyone…..I really appreciate your feedback. :)

Logging....just going out to dinner and then bowling with friends. Already recorded my dinner calories.:)
-
It's like with all things that are "estimates", as long as you recognize that the calories burned in MFP is just an estimate and you don't eat based on those being accurate, then I think you are fine.
-
The only time I don't log is when I am sharing a bunch of different appitizers or eating "family style" where trying to figure out every item is problematic.
-
My TDEE has me at 1490 for now....I am currently 2-3 lbs from my goal and then I get to go into maintanance mode. :)

Orange and White DMH. :)

Welcome back...I live in Northern VA. :)

Honestly...I think you would benefit from joining one of the Clean Eating Groups and posting this there. In these forums, expect to questioned on your definition of "clean eating".

TDEE is definately workiing for me. I see way too many people who are trying to keep their goal at 1200 and to me, that is too low. I'm currently at 1490 with 3 lbs to go. :)

I think that Brandolin11 covered it extremely well. Losing weight should be part of a larger goal to be healthy, to adopt lifestyle changes that will keep you from going back to old habits. Also, weight flutuates...that is just part of the joy of things. Don't sweat the occational tick up/tick down..but do look for…

I think treating hypothyroidism is much trickier than any of us would like....I thought I was finally stable at 112 mcg but my endo wants to see me in 2 months versus 3 due to my TSH levels. Good luck.
-
You may want to check out the groups for hypothyroidism.....I can't really help you as I have Hashimotos and was never in an "in between" state. What did your doctor suggest you do?
-
I've had several "scares" with "losing" things in public.....drivers license, car key.....my grandfather had parkinson's which worries me.
-
I find that sometimes when I think I am hungry, I am actually thirsty so I try to drink more water. I also stock up on fruits/veges as snacks so I am not tempted by chips etc.
-
Thank you!! How do you adjust your numbers to accurately reflect your Carbs, Protein an Fat numbers? I was only able to adjust the percentages and although close...they are not accurate.
-
I would wonder about your scale. Is it accurately determining your weight or do you need to invest in a new scale.
-
I'm 5ft 6.5in and weigh 137. My size 8 jeans are getting really loose so I'll have to start looking at size 6.
-
That is what MFP had me at as well…and that did not work for me. Several people on this site told me about TDEE-20% and I went to one of the calculators and entered my information and it provided a calorie intake of 1410. Since I've been eating around this level, I have lost more weight. :)
-
I did not lose that much weight while eating at 1200 calories or less…I actually lost more when i upped my calories to equal my TDEE-20%. Just something else to consider.
-
Just because you feel sluggish etc. from eating that food, doesn't mean that others will. :)
-
When people say that they are struggling to lose weight....I always recommend opening up your diary so that we can look to see if there are any trends in your eating that could be the culprit. I realize that having a bunch of strangers review it is scary...but there really is very limited advice that we can give without…

Most places I go to I aim for protein and veggies. I love getting a petite steak and double veggies. Usually around or under 550.

I don't think it is bad at all...just probably going in a direction that the OP wasn't expecting. Truthfully, i enjoy the Clean Eating discussions because I always learn things. I have a friend who swears by Whole 30. Not my thing, but I can respect if it works for him.

Alll my friends know that I am a member of MFP and that I am counting calories. I don't consider any food as "bad" or "crap" but if I have 700 calories for dinner...I am going to try to maximize those calories (and allow myself dessert) by focusing on protein and veggies. I actually prefer burgers without the bun or with…
