You are not the only one. Eating healthy foods is a much better option, imo.

Eat if you are hungry, don't if you're not. Listen to your body, not just MFP. I don't agree with MFP's calorie allowances after exercise. The human body was developed around the premise of food was not always available and we could not always eat if we were hungry, and did not eat if we weren't hungry. Intermittent…

Chocolate is always the safest bet for flavor. But.. MusclePharm Combat Powder is hands down the BEST whey isolate protein powder I've ever tasted. I've tried several flavors. Chocolate peanut butter, banana cream, cookies and cream, and now I'm on the chocolate milk flavor.. all have been really good with just water and…

Artificial sweeteners do not make you gain weight themselves, and they affect everyone differently on an individual basis.. Some studies have shown that there are taste buds on your intestines that will 'taste' the artificial sweetener and elicit an insulin release because your body is preparing for sugar, which drives…

I'll start off by saying consult a physician and/or nutritional expert. My personal recommendation is cutting out grains totally. If you're not taking in all of those carbs/sugars, your body won't have to try to regulate all of that. Fruits, nuts, vegetables, and meat. I'll leave it at that.

Thanks for the advice. I've readjusted my BMR.. when I started losing weight it was 3600 cals/day, but now it's 2500 cals/day and I have adjusted goals as such. I'm not sure what TDEE stands for. I know all to well about the water weight shifts. I also get a lot of water; typically about a half gallon at least. I used to…

I do measure body fat as well. I went from 34% in January to 26% now. The problem is I was also 26% about a month and a half ago. It seems like all changes have ceased.

baby steps. I rarely ever think about how much more I have to go.. I just take it day by day. That is the best way to go about it, IMO. Just get out and move. Actually, for people who have a lot to lose, I usually recommend NO exercise for the first 2 months. I know that sounds illogical and crazy, but it's true. Your diet…

My ultimate goal is to get to 220 (I'm 6'3). I started at 363, so I am looking at losing a total of 143 pounds. I'm at 90 lost now and I can tell you it's been an amazing journey. A journey of ups and downs. Of self-loathing and self-discovery. I'm learning who I truly am and what I am capable of and it is absolutely…

You sound like you've just hit a small plateau. I didn't lose any weight for a month and a half not too long ago. Sometimes plateaus are a good thing because I was getting lax with my diet. The plateau forced me to go back and look at what I was doing and rectify some problems. I've since lost 4 pounds.

Of course not, it's about adapting that eating and exercise style in a modern society. We evolved technologically, but the human body largely has not evolved. We learned how to use our brains more and more, but our body has not changed.. except with the outward expanding waistline.

Congrats, you arm yourself with articles just to argue with people on the internet. Personally, I don't have anything saved in bookmarks nor anything I can whip out at the drop of a hat, but I've read plenty and have watched plenty of documentaries. Just because I have no links to post doesn't mean I'm an idiot. Laziness…

You cite one article, which its research was probably funded by some biased agriculture agency, and expect me to take it as truth? lol.. There are just as many low carb advocates and articles that refute what you say as well. The human body has largely not evolved. Oh, so spiking your insulin repeatedly for years and years…

Maybe in the form of fruits, I could see that happening. But where would Grok have gotten grains from? All of those were inaccessible to him.

No. Everything you eat affects your body differently. The general idea behind weight loss is calorie in vs calorie out, but to be in your best health and prevent future dietary health-related issues, you should want to eat healthy foods and get exercise. Also, an added benefit of healthy eating is, generally speaking,…

If you plan to follow a paleo/primal diet, 50-100g carbs/day is the recommended area for 'effortless' weight loss. I recommend ditching the grains. Our bodies are virtually identical to our ancestors of 10k years ago, yet we eat and exercise completely differently. Humans are not supposed to be ingesting 200g+ per day.…

There is a grain of truth to the OP, but it's overblown. If you eat something very fatty with something with a high glycemic index, your body releases insulin to handle the incoming sugars from the carbs.. and you will store all of those fats and store any excess sugar as fat. The bottom line is to not overeat. The next…

Because you're torturing your body with this "cleanse". You need to re-evaluate your personal trainer. Cleanses are ridiculous. You shouldn't have toxins whether you're on a cleanse or not. If you have excessive toxins in your body, you then need to see a urologist about your kidneys.
-
You may want to have your doctor check you for diabetes or insulin resistance if you're having that big of a problem re-adapting. I know I was having blood sugar problems when I cut out the grains and I feel terrible the day after eating them. Rollercoaster ride of energy levels.

Nobody can make you be motivated, it has to come from within. Personally, I felt like one day I hit a wall and something snapped. A week later I started dieting and haven't looked back. There has to be a deep-seeded drive and 'fire' burning within. The only person that can be held accountable is you. That being said, what…

I still have another 50 or so pounds to go, but I did most of it so far by going on Atkins and being strict. I switched to a paleo/primal diet back in January and started working out... the weight loss slowed but my body fat % dropped from 36% to 26% in a matter of a few months, although that's slowing down too. Being fit…

I commend you for your effort in losing weight, but 'cleansing' is all but a sham. You drop nothing but water weight. Your kidneys and liver will take care of any cleansing your body needs so long as you drink plenty of water. Crash diets are tough on your body and you'd be better served by dieting properly. But good luck…

Coconut oil alone won't make you lose weight, but it's certainly much healthier than every other oil out there, besides maybe EVOO, but EVOO can't maintain a high temp. Coconut oil is loaded with healthy fats, which are a necessary part of any diet. If you're on a low carb, high fat diet, enjoy a little coconut oil freely.…

I don't keep track of how many calories I burned through exercise - I just exercise. I walk 2 miles 4 days a week, and the other 3 consist of 2 lifting sessions and a sprinting + plyometrics session. None of my workouts last over 45 minutes, but lifting and plyo can burn a ton. I lose weight without losing lean body mass…
