First off, try to get most of your daily protein intake from real food. I currently get about 75% of my daily intake of protein from real food, and supplement the last bit. How much protein you need just varies on your goals; generally 1 gram for every kg or 1 gram for every pound of lean body mass is the usual for your…

You're not alone bro. I do the same thing. I've at least been able to taper the binges to healthier stuff, but I have problems with snacking and binging. Like watching a movie and mowing down a whole bag of celery stalks and hummus. Or when I'm bored I want to snack, etc. I've been at this for 2 years and I still struggle…

Where your body stores fat is highly genetic, as is where it drops excess fat stores first. If you target muscles with exercise, you'll build those muscles up, but you can't target fat loss. Maintain a healthy diet and exercise and it'll come off.

I'm an advocate of cutting out all grains, and your sources of carbs should come from veggies, including limited amounts of sweet potato, and limited fruits.. but that is because I believe it's what is healthiest and more along the lines of what a human being is supposed to eat. That being said, it is entirely possible to…

I agree with this article. The most efficient way to work out is strength training with high intensity interval cardio between sets. Example, my normal workout consists of 4 compound lifts: bench press, squat, military press, deadlift. I usually warm up with dynamic stretching and then some jumping jacks to get the heart…

I've had to replace some of my wardrobe 3 times now. My brother is a big man and I give most of my old clothes to him or dropped them off at Goodwill, but I kept my biggest shirt and pants and will always keep them as a reminder.

Fellow gamer and call center worker here also. League of Legends is what I play most, I'd say (Zed is a monster jungle!!). I just got Blops 2 and have been playing that too. If exercise is your concern, you have to commit to going to the gym at least 3 times since you have a sedentary job and your primary hobby is also…

Keep it going!!! For people with a lot to lose (as I did/still kinda do), you just have to take it one day at a time. When I look back at my own journey, it's hard to believe that it's almost my 2nd anniversary. Just one day at a time, focus on your food and tracking. I recommend not exercising until 2-3 months in. Get a…

In my personal experience, it's darn hard to resist holiday food. I understand this time of year is chocked full of bad meals, but it's my policy to eat whatever I want on holidays or special occasions. The key thing is to NOT OVEREAT. I figure that this is a lifestyle for me, so I may as well enjoy my time with my family…

When I started removing carbs from my diet way back when, I adjusted in 4-5 days. The last day was pure misery.. I had 0 energy, felt sick, cold sweats. But I woke up the next day feeling fantastic. Just give it time.

I would define heavy as 7-10 reps. Not heavy enough if you aren't experiencing total muscle failure by that 10th rep.

No food scale here, either.

Yes, there is a point where you can be taking in too much protein, but to be honest, you'd have to try really, REALLY hard to reach it.

It's not; common misconception.

Great thing is I don't really even miss all of the grains, outside of occasionally craving a spaghetti or pasta dish... or beer. That's my biggest vice; I usually have beer once a week. I know, it's terrible, empty calories. But I just love beer and love the social times with beer. Liquors just don't do it for me the way…

Add me. I'm not the greatest and most dedicated logger but if you ever need any advice I usually log on every day.

I don't know any low carber that thinks that it's impossible to lose weight while eating carbs. Personally, I advocate a paleo diet not because I think it's impossible to consume carbs and lose weight, but because I genuinely believe that starches, particularly refined starches and sugars, are terrible for your body. Paleo…

First 2 weeks I lost something like 15 or 16 pounds I think. But I had tons to lose.

I enjoy lifting weights, and I loathe cardio. I force myself to go through some cardio with every workout, but I need more.

The dread weight loss plateau. I'm there myself. Typical plateau-busters are a 24 hour fast, or since you're on a low carb diet, carb load for 2 days and then cut the carbs again. The only true, proven plateau buster is good old elbow grease and time.
