Thanks for the repost! This is all very important information and I completely agree with you - particularly about paying attention to how certain foods affect you...so many folks focus on "just" staying under their calories and don't understand why they're constantly starving, or why they're tired...could be the choices…

I had my standard "go to" sandwich: 2 slices of Sarah Lee 45 calorie whole wheat bread 1/2 avocado spread on one (instead of mayo) Alfalfa sprouts 1/2 Persian cucumber, slices 2 red lettuce leaves 5 slices of roasted turkey (1 serving) 5 slices of ham (1 serving) I also had a side of about 10 asparagus spears.

We're all in the same boat!!! I'm 5'3", starting this change back on 9/15 at 286.4 lbs. Today I'm down to 265.6 . Like @bgheald2010, I'm not following any diet, either...I eat CONSTANTLY throughout the day - 3 meals and 3 snacks. In order to spread out my calories to cover all of that, I've got to make smart choices and…

Chicken is cheap and you can buy it in bulk and keep it in the freezer until you're ready to use it. Try making stews and soups...what kind of food do you enjoy?

First of all, WELCOME TO YOU ALL!!!! :-D There is a WEALTH of information here!!! I sould suggest using the SEARCH tool - type in any topic you might have a question on - believe me, somebody else has already brought it up!!! If you see someone you think might be a good MFP friend, send them a request! There are all kinds…

Wow, you look FANTASTIC!!!! That last side-by-side photo is very telling. GREAT job!!!!!

I agree with the previous poster - I don't think you're eating enough! I eat all day long - starting from within an hour of waking up to an hour before bed. That's 3 meals and 3 snacks per day...now, that having been said - and YES, you CAN eat whatever you want as long as there's a calorie deficit - I have to make smart…

I see a few snacks in your diary that have some high sugar content...you might want to tweak those a little bit - either have less or change it up a bit. Sometimes it's surprising how much sugar something has!
-
I don't even really pay attention to the sugar, to be honest as I eat very little processed sugar. I think that's the key - there's a difference between eating a high sugar content donut and the sugar from natural berries, ya know?
-
Aloha, Steph!!!! Welcome and feel free to add me, as well. I'm also 5'3" but currently weigh a bit more than you do...there are also groups focusing on us shorties if you're interested...nose around - there's a wealth of information here!

If you seriously want to do it, then do it. Someone previously mentioned career aspirations - I think that may play into it, but it also depends on where you live. Here in the SF Bay Area of California, not too many employers would bat an eye. I'm professional - I have my entire back done that very rarely now and again…

For breakfast, sometimes I just drink a Muscle Milk Light chocolate. When they're really cold, they taste good. Even my kids like them. Otherwise, I mix a Jay Robb whey protein shake in Vanilla. Supposedly voted "best tasting" and has the following: Made With 100% rBGH-Free Whey Protein Isolate as the protein source 110…

Great advice! I do, however, weight myself every single day. I think it helps to "keep me honest" when I'm eating!!! Plus I like that my scale shows me other parameters - body fat%, water, and muscle%. Sometimes my weight number doesn't change, but my body fat% went down, which is still a win in my book! :-D
-
Y'all are tiny.... I'm 5'3" SW: 286.4 lbs (9/15/13) CW: 265.6 (10/21/13) GW: 135ish I bought a kitchen scale - WOW, did that make a world of difference!!! I was completely clueless about portion sizes!!!! I bought a digital scale that shows me not only weight, but body fat%, water% and muscle%. It helps to see that even…

It depends; if I've brought my lunch/snack box to work, then I may pre-plan everything out (although I always bring myself "choices" for snacks); sometimes I do it in real t ime, esp if I'm at home on that day. It just depends!

Ditto on the soups and stews!!! I also eat a lot of fish and grilled veggies - simply prepared - just drizzled with 1 TBSP of extra virgin olive oil and sprinkled with either Italian seasonings or just fresh ground black pepper.
