too much oatmeal fermenting in your gut? LOL That happens to me :) Seek MD if it doesn't go away.

The biggest back-handed compliment a person can get. Ugghh. The other favorite is "you have such a pretty face, now if you could just lose the weight". My goal is to NEVER hear this ever again!

It very well could be the incline setting on the machine. If your toes are elevated higher than your heel, your toes don't get proper circulation. Lower the incline and INCREASE the resistance to get your heart rate up :)

Thankful for your sincerity and honesty. You've turn devastation into power and positivity. My your heart, not your plate, be overflowing with love every day ! Your friendly dietitian

At my highest weight 263, bra size 42DDD. After 84lbs lost, bra = 36DD. My naked chest looked like I had a pair of knee high stockings with $20 worth of quarters in each sock attached to me. No, they weren't hanging to my waist, but since I am short-waisted, they did look really saggy. And super flat on the upper crest.…

Lovely. I feel the same way about french fries and chips...way too salty and greasy for my digestive tract now. I experience physical pain in my stomach as they are digesting. Not fun. I'd rather have crackers or sliced cucumbers with my lunch.

Very true and your friends/siblings who are still fat can't share in your success because of this perceived threat.

ANY food can be addictive, not just junk food. An addict will look for anything to make them feel better or avoid feeling emotions he/she is afraid of. An addict abuses a substance or habit (shopping, sex, gambling) as a coping tool. Albeit, a destructive coping tool. The reality is that these "things" don't make the…

Does MFP have cardio exercise entry for "typing frantically for 30 minutes while experiencing diarrhea of the brain" ? Ha Ha Ha. Jayzus!!

Do we all not look at the price of that bottle of wine before we order it? How about the surf n' turf entree? How about on Yelp where they show the price category of the restaurant we pick ($$ or $$$$)? We are constantly looking at prices all day long...which gas station has the cheapest gas, which store carries the…

It's perceived as harder cuz tracking your food can never stop while maintaining. "Diets" have an end date and people don't plan for maintenance from the get-go. Does an alcoholic say "ok, I've been sober for 6 months now and did really well, back to the bar I go"? Nope. The book Thin For Life is a great read BTW. Jennifer…

I weigh daily also and keep it logged on a calendar. I can gain up to 7lbs in fluid the week prior to my period. Depressing, I know, but the calendar helps to remind myself that it's fluid. I also gain 3lbs during the week of ovulation. Basically I'm a human sponge. I do see that the 3 days after my period is when I weigh…

Thank your little girl for us! Now we can ALL enjoy your being around much longer as a healthier person. Keep it up and put that "before" pic of you in your purse as a reminder to NEVER GIVE UP! Your story is inspiring so many people as you can see ;)

^What he said. And actually the tiny annoyance is forgotten every time someone tells me how good I look ;) How "annoying" is it to check your bank balance either. Think of it this way: Logging your food is like being fully awake. Blind eating is sleepwalking. I love being fully awake now. I look at overweight people…

You can check out great books at the library or buy them used online. Here are some suggestions: Life is Hard, Food is Easy by Linda Spangle Thin for Life by Anne Fletcher 50 Ways to Soothe Yourself Without Food by Susan Albers Also a suggestion, and one that I used myself is to call your HR dept at your husband's job or…

I have 2 male coworkers (20's) who eat fast food for lunch every day in the break room. They know I've lost a lot of weight and eat super healthy foods. They allow me to stare at them (laughingly) while they devour their Burger King, In-n-Out, McDonald's, Carl's Jr, Jack-in-the-Box, Fat Burger, The Habit delicacies EVERY.…

Holy Crap!! Is that really you?? You're only 19?? OMG, I am amazed by your dedication to improve your health. Damn! Sorry, need to pick my jaw off the floor now. :) Congrats to you. That took a LOT of work for you to transform that body into an Adonis.

Maintenance = management. Management = every day (most days). It's boring, monotonous, annoying, and time consuming sometimes. And guess what? It's worth everything to me to feel this good and love what I see in the mirror. Losing 80lbs is my #1 accomplishment and I plan to never take that away from myself. I'm a food…

You are SUPER WOMAN!!

I'm still picking up my jaw from the floor after seeing your "after" pics. What a transformation, my friend. You gotta post a profile pic of yourself with a HUGE smile! Your kids are so proud of their dad and so are we on MFP. Hooray for YOU!!

You bring measuring cups and a food scale to work to weigh portions of food at potluck days. Yes, I am a dietitian. And yes, I do measure my food 90% of the time. It makes it way easier to log. I even ask the host of a party for a 1/4 cup measuring cup BEFORE I dig in at the food served. I'm not going back to my 80+ lb…

Your friendly dietitian says: Get blood work done to see if you are deficient in any vitamin or mineral. Increase the foods that are rich in the vitamins/minerals you are low in. If you have functioning kidneys, they will filter out any surplus to keep our blood in balance. Supplements are necessary, but mainly for people…

That's all it takes my friend! No gimmicks or potions or supplements. You're doing great and inspiring so many of us out here :) Keep going and keep logging. Your friendly dietitian

CHEERS to you! Wow, you mean no gimmick diets and crazy workouts? Ha! I knew people could lose weight if they just stuck to restricting calories and walking. I will be using you as yet another example for all my patients who are looking to lose the lbs. Your friendly dietitian

Yesss! Every time I'm at the checkout and want an innocent "little" chocolate treat, I am so saddened by how even M&Ms plain are about 220 calories in that little bag. So not worth it. Only on occasion do I get the pretzel M&M bag. 160 calories is still quite a lot for a little taste of chocolate. I try to only buy them…

I made vegetable Thai curry with tilapia last night and was surprised that even with the light coconut milk and rice/potatoes it only came out to 370 calories per portion :) And it was soooo tasty! Costco pizza at the food court window was the biggest heartbreak of my life. How can a slice of cheese pizza have…

Exactly my dear Watson!! A calorie is a measurement of heat/energy needed to raise 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius. We get so wrapped up in the source of the heat that we miss the point of calorie counting and make losing weight so much more dramatic and confusing. If you 3000 kcalories made up of vegetables every day,…

You can message me personally and I'll tell you about my experience with my head to toe plastic surgery reconstruction process. I will guarantee that even if you have complications, you will NEVER regret having excess skin removed :)

Awesome observation and education of other members of the forum! If you'd like to be disgusted even further, check out the "healthier" cereals at the grocery store. Most of them have the same grams of sugar as Frosted Flakes or Trix. I know people who only buy their kids cereal from Trader Joe's here in Los Angeles…
