I feel you. I felt the same way at 50lbs lost. I beat myself up for not losing more. I think I felt this way b/c I had soo much flappy skin and no one could tell all my hard work underneath all that mess. The only thing that helped was plastic surgery to remove the skin.

You sound really overwhelmed, and it breaks my heart. Do you have resources to seek counseling from a psychologist? You have so much pain and sadness, and no amount of calorie counting and exercising is going to get to the core of your eating issues. You've made a great step is realizing that your life needs some changing…

I am a Registered Dietitian, and have worked with diabetic patients for over 12 years. Plastic surgeons, and the majority of doctors don't know squat about nutrition...leave that to us. If you would like to chat one-on-one with me, message me. Meats have zero carbs...everything else is a carbohydrate. What else are you to…

Ah, the internet....why haven't we all figured out that cyberpeople cannot diagnose ailments or diseases? You gotta see a doctor, and did you REALLY need us to tell you that?

My best advice is to get a heart rate monitor if you REALLY want some accuracy in your workouts. I bought (for all its great reviews) the Polar FT60 from Amazon for about $120. No, I'm not getting kick backs or anything, but I'm a Registered Dietitian and have done some extensive research on calories measuring during…

Jeezusss! You look so itty bitty now!. Try on a dress or pants in your old size....but LEAVE IT ON ALL DAY (hopefully you'll be loafing around the house and not in public since you will look absolutely ridiculous. Keep looking at yourself in the mirror ALL DAY. You'll need more days to repeat this. Also keep a big photo of…

Starvation mode? That would be less than 800kcal per day. I am a registered dietitian with a gastric band (5 year anniversary is in July and maintained 80lbs loss) and agree with your dietitian. If you're in the weight loss program with Kaiser, they will want to see some effort on your part to believe you are a candidate…

My opinion, as a Registered Dietitian? I ask you, Are you on a DIET or are you on a LIFESTYLE CHANGE? If it's a diet, then of course you'll eat gluttonously and drink lots of calorie-laden beverages in the hot Florida sunshine. You'll gain weight, feel like crap when you get home, and beat yourself up that all your hard…

chips, cookies, pizza, doughnuts, junky kids' cereal. These items will be thrown away if they enter my house (when I'm feeling emotionally strong enough to do it). I have a LapBand and whatever is dry and crunchy will go through very easily without getting clogged up. I know what my drug of choice is and it's VERY hard to…

I feared being under 200lbs but was not admitting it to myself. I sabotaged my weight loss for about a year and maintained at 201/204 blaming it on everything else but the real reason. My therapist helped me get over the hurdle and the 190's came and I was over my fear, but my god did it take a LOT of weekly sessions…

I like to keep challenging myself with my workouts. I bought a really good heart rate monitor for the first time (xmas present to me) and love to see how many calories I'm burning. I would take it to the gym and compare it against the cardio machines..boy are they way off. They over estimate my calorie burning for sure.…

After my body lift and brachioplasty last November, I'm quickly learning who is on my side and who isn't. Funny thing is, my sisters are non-supportive in my new physique and my goal to have all the excess skin removed from my body this year. I'm down 80lbs and it sucks that a positive comment cannot come from my sister's…

I lost 65lbs with the help of my Lapband and went for a body lift and brachioplasty last November to get rid of a lot of saggy skin. When I came back to work, my male coworkers called me "sexy" and it's an adjective I've never been called before. I was a little uneasy with that label, but now it's ok. My female coworkers…
