  • You pulled an ab muscle? That's exceptional. What on earth did you do?? I imagine it should be over quickly because there are no tendons involved

  • Yes, it's normal. Don't worry, Keep training and you'll rarely have mucle pain again.
  • Four months should be okay, but only if you let your knee recover well. Agree with others: walk normally with incline or use elliptical in the meantime. Good luck!
  • Be careful, very careful! If you mess with your knees, it may never be okay again. How much do you jog now, before the knees play up? Do you mean you are training to do 25 kilometers? May I suggest you drop that goal until your knees are firm?
  • Runs... what was it, 70 miles a week? Holy mallony! Cool!
  • Ya, THIS one should be added to the advice though: IF you decide to work out with a cold, please DO take extra care cleaning up your sweat.
  • That's good advice. I had a slight intestine disorder in the past couple of days and went to the gym. It went .. oh-kay but I was clearly not as fit as other times. . I have also experienced that I cured a cold from sports when I was a teenager. A bad cold was coming up, but I went to do gymnastics all the same. Intense…
  • Being a guy, I already feel aweful having to go inside a clothing store regardless of my sizes. Now that I'm losing weight I have another excuse not to go shopping: I might lose more weight and those expensive clothes wouldn't fit me in a few months time, would they? Haha... I have my moments when I have a clothes shopping…
  • Ab exercise is still good for psychological reasons. If you train your abs regularly you''ll begin to feel the muscles firm up under that soft layer, and then you just want to make sure that it comes out. But, it takes time.

  • Is that in kilometers or miles?
  • Yep, that was what I wanted to find out. I don't think MFP can come up with an algorytm that is reliable. I just kept track of total calories lost.
  • Welcome on MFP!! I dont' suit your request, but you need an odd one out right?
  • Eating double the protein in excess of MFP's target may be fine for you, but out of solidarity I can't help myself but highlight that it can be a problem to the common source of our protein: cows, pigs, sheep, fish. Well, before triggering a heated political debate about animal rights I just want to say that one has to…
  • 3. Which one(s) do you personally recommend? The more inexpensive, the better I keep my iphone in my underpants :blushing:
  • It's quite confusing, I agree! When I started working out a year ago, I was glad to have burned 300 cal. Now, I'm fit enough so that a half hour run is warming up. So 800 Cal per training is not a huge achievement for me now. That is not to say that it isn't hard work. I have noticed that I am one of the few people who…
  • My inner thighs. A guy would normally have little fat on his legs, and I won't claim to have much left now (he hee). But I can feel that there's still an excess layer left when I stretch. I got rid of the worst, which I could previously feel rubbing when walking, let alone running. Uggghh, won't allow that to happen again!
  • Welcome! Strangely, your icon says you already joined more than 2 years ago. MFP does work well. You should be able to lose weight pretty quickly. Just don't underestimate volumes and weight of foods. I suspect that I do at times.

  • Haha, the topic title of your posting had so much sense of guilt in it, it sounded l like that of an AA alcoholic who sobered up after a week long binge! Perhaps you can go a little easier on yourself and your loved ones. What counts is that you learned something.
  • I don't get it. What's the problem with sodium? Sodium as in salt, salt as in the stuff that raises blood pressure?
  • It's a visible success already! Keep it up!
  • Warmly recommended: **** Dale and his Del-Tones (oh ya his first name is going to be censored away here pffff). The Apemen and Pyramids... So, instrumental surf guitar. It's perfect, esp. for cardio. And esp. for guys hehe
  • Yep, we're here to motivate each other and share experiences. And you got some amazingly consistent responses so that's a good thing for you to start!
  • If I may, step one: stop feeling guilty. It's the worst advisor you could have. Step two: get out there in the gym, and do your thing. Sweat, suffer, sigh and tear the place apart. In a couple of months, it will already go a lot easier. But the tough start is necessary. Step 3: commit to going at it step by step. Your 70…
  • But Sarah, it's not all that long before you go to Jamaica is it? Nonetheless I can relate to what you feel. I also joined in February and have mixed feelings about being preoccupied with calories. It has, however, helped me reach my target, seriously in NO TIME! Well, what to do? I think that if realize that you feel…

  • Now, here's a success story! Agree that the exercise can make the critical difference. I too was told at one point that I'd be taking stomach acid suppressants the rest of my life.
  • Hahaha, totally agree! Let those kids sweat it out. (not meant all too cynical, I thought it was quite funny to read this)
  • BUMP How is it going now? To be smoke free, that is... Hope you're still on it!
  • 1) You can adjust the calories burned estimated by MFP. Just replace the figure that pops up automatically. That's assuming you remember what the treadmill showed. 2) I'm pretty sure that different treadmills measure calories differently. I do not believe, however, that the difference matters. If these differences were to…
  • Have been weighing myself too often in the past couple of weeks. That measures one thing more important than my weight: my preoccupation with weighing in. And that's the part I should be more worried about addressing.
  • But now you have to buy new clothes all over! ;) Well done!!
