I definitely feel like I had a better cardio workout when I run, so if your goal is heart health, jog, if your goal is simply calories, walk.

I see a lot of people suggest that if you can do more than 12 reps per set, your weights are too light, and if you can't do more than 5, it is too heavy.

Congrats on a job well done. :drinker:

I saw the MFP app in a magazine, and decided to give it a try. Best decision ever.

I weigh in every day, because I use a wi fi scale, and it tracks my progress trend on trendweight.com. I find it very helpful as they make a distinction between total weight, body fat, and lean weight. The total weight don't matter at all. I just keep my eye on the latter two.

That is 500 cals below your tdee (total daily energy expenditure) This is the 500 cals that you are eating less than what you are burning, resulting in the 1 pound a week weight loss.

Well, I had boobs, and got very little friend requests. The got more as my boobs got smaller.

Just add it as strength training under the cardio header if you want the calories to be added on.

I made a spreadsheet that calculates my 1rm and then percentages of it for my different sets, divided into 4 week programs. Works great for me.

+1 on this.

I had this. What helped me a lot, was taking a dolomite supplement, and generally reducing weight with other activity until my knees felt good enough for squats.

It will. You have a set number of days. Make today count. Just go for it.

This is really sad that this thread is so long already. People are generally pretty awful to one another. I say, use this feeling as motivation. Remember these stories when you are feeling like giving up. And most importantly, when at last you are at your target weight, remember how you felt, and maybe spare someone else's…

I got asked by that yo-yo:bigsmile: dieting niece that everyone usually have, if I wanted to borrow her bikini top once, while we were swimming at their house, and I am a guy.... Worst of it is, she is no Greek goddess either. I guess that there are some people that just get off on putting others down. Anyway, I chose to…

I always laugh at myself when stuff like this happen to me. Do you really think that thin people don't indulge in too much food, or unhealthy snacks from time to time? The key is the "from time to time" bit. Don't worry about it. The bloatedness usually help keep me on track again for weeks to come. Stark reminder of how…

The flex works fine when in your pocket as well, I have found. My wife clips it to her clothes, and it stays accurate.

So did I...

Congratulations on taking the first, and for me, the hardest step. From here on it can only get better. I keep telling myself on the days that I find it hard, that it is ok, as today I am the fattest I will ever be again.

I'm doing great for the first time in 20 years, and then I have this relation that keeps trying to get me on a yo yo diet. It really p15535 me off to no end, but then I just decided to each his own. I don't comment or try to tell ppl what to do unless they ask. I will make my body do the talking in a couple of months.

Don't do it to be skinny. Do it to be healthy.

I think the idea would be to walk/run more, so it gets you over the 1200 mark. This is what it is for. Motivating you to do more. If you are already very active, it is very likely that your put your numbers in wrong. Got mine in December, and made all the difference.
