  • I chose the sleeve for me because: 1) I didn't want to deal with the possibility of malabsorption of nutrients that I understood was greater in the bypass. 2) I didn't like the idea of re-routing my digestive system. 3) I didn't like the idea of experiencing "dumping". I have a friend who had her bypass closer to 10 yrs…

  • What is C25K?[/quote] Couch to 5K. Its an app that helps you prepare for running a 5K.
  • That is really an interesting finding. I think my "moving target" is because I have never (in my adult life) been the weight that I am now, much less a lower goal weight. I have no idea if my "goal" weight is a reasonable expectation or not. I wonder if part of the moving target has to do with how the people perceive…
  • Its a hard thing to keep the carbs from taking over the diet. You recognize it is happening, so that is a step all by itself. Now you can address the issue and make some headway. I am sure you will be successful.
  • You have done awesome! You are so inspiring to me and so many others. Your commitment to yourself shows and it is great!
  • Congrats! No, it isn't always easy but the results are so worth it. Keep it up!!
  • Welcome! You made a great start pre-surgery so I'm sure you will do great post-surgery too. This group is a great source of knowledge and support.
  • My problem area has always been my middle, and it still is. I think exercise in general will help you lose weight all over your body. I am working on extra toning for my problem area.
  • You get a lot of fluid while in the hospital. It can take awhile to get rid of that. Keep drinking and walking and you will keep losing.
  • Donating clothes as they get too big. I have been lucky to get some clothes from my sister and a friend, and that saved me a bunch of money. Also got some some clothes in clearance sections of stores, where I was only paying $5-10. I have just enough clothes to get through a week of work, but not too much more. Waiting…

  • Congrats! I have not regretted my decision to be sleeved. Try to start eating more like you will after surgery. Protein & veggies, a little bit of fruit. Get rid of sugared drinks, such as pop or juices. Try to get as much activity/exercise in as you can. You can and will take off the 15 lbs and be successful!
  • Thaeda, I love following your updates. You help me to understand better this process that we have chosen to put ourselves through. You remind me that having the surgery did not make us perfect and we will have some days where we don't make the best choices, but its ok. Mostly, you inspire me with the success you have had,…
  • I just had my 6 mo post-op yesterday and they took blood for a full panel. Now I don't go back until the 1 yr mark.

  • Pat: My dr wants me to have my breakfast w/in an hour of waking up. That means I need to eat it between 6-6:30. My lunch isn't until 11:30 to 12:00. My dr would prefer I don't have snacks, just my 3 meals per day, so ideally I'd like to have my breakfast keep me until lunch. Except that it isn't. :( Maybe I'll just have to…
  • The lady that did my fitting told me that as I lose in band with, it is likely I will gain in cup size. She said it is possible to lose a little in cup size, but mostly you don't. I'm about 60% to my goal weight. If I'm a DDD now, I can only imagine what I will be at goal. How many letters do the cup sizes go up to??? :)
  • My first stall was at week 3. I was freaked out. It didn't last. I have had stalls since then too. (I'm almost 6 mos out) They haven't lasted either. If you are following your program, (fluid, protein, calories) your stalls won't last either. Your body just has to reset every now and then.
  • I say that I had weight loss surgery and now am also eating healthy and exercising.

  • My significant other works for a bread company. One night I told him that the focaccia loaves (long, oblong, flat shaped) look a lot like my boobs these days. I think he mostly thought I had lost my mind. The girls as currently in a 40DDD. My plan is that after I hit goal weight, I am looking at a reduction that will…
  • The pureed stage was a welcome after liquids. I also stalled at week 3. Don't worry, it doesn't last. I'm glad you are feeling better. It will continue to be better as you go on and move to more regular foods. Welcome!!
  • You are ready. Wishing you a speedy 10 days, easy surgery & recovery, and then you will be off to the races!
  • My NUT asked me to not have soup for a meal. She suggested I have soup for a snack instead, and something more solid for my meals.
  • I have had this happen 3 times. (I am almost 6 mos out) Twice it was from eating too fast. You don't realize you are eating too fast as you do it, but within a few minutes you suddenly feel it. The other time it was because I didn't chew my food enough before I swallowed it and it got stuck. All 3 times I ended up throwing…
  • I have the Flinstone vitamins which I could chew. The other meds I had were tiny pills, otherwise it would have been difficult to get them down. Hope you are feeling better every day.
  • Amazing! You are doing great, and it shows. Keep it up!!
  • That is incredible and inspiring! You really challenged yourself and you met the challenge. The point isn't what "place" you came in, the point is that you "came in!" Congratulations!!
  • I'm a little different. I don't mind the look or smell of sweets. However, I've tried a few bites and it really makes me feel bad. I'm coming to accept that I should just skip eating them, not matter how good I think they look.
  • I did mostly walking for the first 3 mos. A couple of times I tried the elliptical machine but could only do it for 10 minutes or so. If you have a pool available to you, you might try swimming or walking in the pool. That should be easier for your joints.
