[quote Thaeda: because the idea is you only focus on the present moment-- not what is coming, or what should be-- just what is. It takes practice, but can be very helpful in reducing anxiety. [/quote] Boy, this could not have been more timely. This past weekend my Dad fainted, hit his head and had to go to the ER to get…

Had my sleeve on 11/19, so just over 4 mos out now. Feel free to send a friend request. You have made great progress so far, you should be proud of what you have done. The sleeve will just be a reinforcement for you and added motivation. This place is great for questions because while no two people will have the same…

What a great post! The clinic you went to should have you giving the orientations for them. You are a great spokesperson for them and for WLS in general. You inspire me. Congratulations on the success that you made happen for yourself.

I had this right after surgery and I had never had it before so it was a very strange sensation/feeling for me. I was on prescriptions strength Ranitidine for the first 3 mos post-surgery. I would take 1 pill in the morning and 1 at night. I actually noticed no reflux/heartburn after about the first 2-3 weeks on the Rx.…

That is a totally cute suit and you look wonderful in it. I'm hoping when I go shopping for a new suit a year from now, I will be able to fit into and find a cute suit like that.

Wow, I did not know this and I am a mouth breather. That helps (at least in part) explain why my attempts to breath and calm myself down are not working to well for me. I think your plan is something we could all practice at the stressful/anxiety points of our lives. The walking away part is hard for me because I get more…

I had some trouble with water at first because I just don't like it. For me, drinking it cold and with some crystal light added in was the way to go. I also didn't take naps during the day because that took away from sipping time.

I am amazed at the family members who "love" their overweight family member but continue to feed them almost to the grave. I am amazed at the family members who are not supportive or try to sabotage the weight loss process after surgery. I am amazed at those who have the surgery but don't see the blessing in it and…

My fault. When I said I "knocked on wood for you" it was my office desk and that is faux wood. Sorry.
-
I assume prior to surgery you were checked for sleep apnea, so that probably isn't it. You should have your hemoglobin checked to make sure you aren't anemic.

Water weight can come on quickly, but it can also go away quickly. Keep drinking so your body doesn't try to hang on to the water. You will be fine.

4 mos out. How much I eat depends on the density. I can do almost 1 cup of cottage cheese. I can only do 2-2.5 oz of a hamburger. I eat 3 meals and 1 protein supplement, usually a drink. I try to stay w/in a 600-800 calorie range per day, preferably on the lower end. With the calorie range, my dr expects me to work out 3-4…

I was off work about 2 1/2 weeks. I have an office/sedentary job so it was pretty easy for me to go back at that point. I could have even gone back after 2 weeks.

Wow, I'm not sure there could be anything left to add to your stresses. (but I knocked on wood for you, just in case) As for the "fat acceptance" thing, if that makes them happy then more power to them. In some cases, I think it is more of an insecurity defense. Don't let them rain on your parade. You have worked hard to…

Like Pat, pre-surgery I would eat every comfort food I could find, and almost anything that had a higher calorie count would fit into that catagory. Post surgery, I have had a bad day or two but for some reason food no longer comes to mind for comfort. I imagine partly because I'm rarely hungry and partly because sweet…

My doctor told me not too look at the scale for the first 2-3 weeks because my body weight would fluctuate a lot. Your body is just adjusting.

I am on BP meds and the dr warned me to watch for these symptoms as I may be able to get off the meds as I lose weight and exercise. I also know it could be signs of not enough fluids. For sure, address this with your doctor.

I've had it happen a couple of times, once from eating too much/fast, and once from not chewing well enough. So, my advice would be to watch how much you are eating, how fast you are eating and if you are chewing enough. Now that I'm uncomfortably familiar with the consequences of not doing the above, I am very careful to…

I have given most of my "bigger" clothes away. I have some that a friend of mine is going to take. I'm not going to keep anything that was from pre-surgery or is too big. I don't want the temptation of thinking I can gain a few pounds and still have clothes that fit.

As Pat mentioned, I got a card from the surgeon's office that tells them I have had surgery and asks that I be allowed to order from the kids menu. If there is nothing there that I think will work out for protein and fewer calories, I will try to find something on the appetizer menu. If that isn't an option, I just take…

I had the sleeve. I had never had reflux prior to surgery. After surgery, the dr put me on a prescription to stop reflux. I took that for 2 1/2 mos and then stopped. I haven't had any problem with reflux.
-
Fantastic. You have worked really hard to achieve this, so celebrate you!!
-
Fabulous! How great to have to go out in a little black dress :)
-
That is too cool, and the pic of you and the kids is cute. Good for you.

I would say you are doing great in spite of the stress. You are losing and your body is thinning-- the pictures say it all. I agree, stress does inhibit weight loss but you are triumphing over it. The best is yet to come, both in your job status and weight. Stay positive, which I know you are.

I have not found a way to do it either. It doesn't seem to like anyone eating under 1000 calories per day.

I had my sleeve surgery on 11/19/14. I was like you in that I could lose X amount of weight but couldn't keep it off. The sleeve is a tool to help me limit the amount of food I eat at one time and to a degree what type of food I eat. It is only a tool though, so you have to do the work in conjunction with it. That being…

Best wishes. The surgery will go fine. In fact, my actual surgery (here in the USA) only took 45 min. I was in pre-op longer than the actual surgery took. The day after surgery is the least fun but not terrible. Every day after that gets a little better. Once they start having you sipping liquids, be aware that tastes can…

Welcome! I had surgery in Nov 2014. I too find it easier to watch the calorie intake than to commit to exercise. However, my dr told me I would not get to the goal weight I wanted unless I exercised-- so I do. I started out walking on a treadmill and have continued to increase my pace and added some elevation intervals as…

At 5 weeks out, I had lost 21 lbs. There are so many variables that is just doesn't help to compare yourself to anyone else. Some people have a higher starting weight (or lower), some are taller/shorter, some were already exercising, and some are men. Yes, when I see people post who seem to be losing more or quicker than I…
